Chapter 34: Contract

"Big Brother, can I go out?"

Maria hugged his legs and asked, putting on a pitiful gaze. Being a kid, she was pretty much cooped up, living inside this tower.

Marx rubbed his head. After naming his new flame, he decided to return to the mansion and test his alchemy skills.

Just as he predicted, he was able to produce several Good-Grade Pills immediately. So, he continued working on it for a few days.

If he practiced for a few more weeks, he would be able to produce Great-Grade Pills.

But just as he was about to leave, he found Maria sitting in the garden, talking to the puppets.

Seeing this, he felt guilty and stayed the whole day with her, talking about different things to relieve her boredom.

During the night, he even wrote more stories as she went to sleep.

But just as he was about to leave, Maria didn’t let go of his legs. She kept pestering him to stay.

’There is a way that I can leave her out. That is, if she can bring out the power inside of her. But how am I supposed to do that?’

He thought for a moment.

’Let’s test System’s idea!’

He crouched down and patted Maria on the head, fondling her hair.

"Maria, you know I can’t let you go out. It is very dangerous outside."

"But I don’t want to stay here alone. Brother, can’t you just live here?"

Maria asked in a crying tone as her eyes turned red.

Marx realized he couldn’t tell her about the resurrection plan of his parents.

"Hmm! How about this? I will make you a few medicines and give you some exercises. As long as you train with those, I will take you out."

Maria’s face showed an excited expression as if she hadn’t been crying before.

"Really?"

Marx nodded. He knew about a medicine that was similar to the Blood Empowering Pill but with lesser growth impacts.

But it had one unique use. It could be used on little kids who hadn’t trained their bodies before.

This made it a perfect medicine.

And what made it even more exciting was that, except for one herb that acted as a calming agent, the ingredients were the same as for the Blood Empowering Pill.

So, he told her to wait outside as he entered the alchemy room and started making this medicine.

The process was similar to making the pill, except for adding that one ingredient. In less than an hour, he made nearly three batches.

Holding those jars of pills, he walked out of his alchemy lab.

He showed her the jar and said.

"This is known as the Blood Tempering Pill. You need to put it in a tub and fill the tub halfway."

"Then, you have to take a bath every day after exercising."

He took out a book.

[Five Elemental Body Tempering Technique]

He had found this technique a long time ago. It was a Mortal Rank Low Grade Body Tempering Technique.

But it was used by mortals, allowing them to achieve the body of a Martial Artist without absorbing Qi into their bodies.

Because it wasn’t very useful to him, he never practiced it before.

In fact, it could even be bought at every Treasure House or Martial Art and Spell Pavilion.

This recorded a set of exercises that could be done by five years old kid. Of course, that was the starting point.

Since his parents weren’t rich, they couldn’t buy this technique.

In fact, he was only able to get it from the same kid from whom he got the Spatial Bag.

"Is this what I need to do?"

Maria took the book in her hand and turned the pages.

Seeing this, Marx couldn’t help but watch her in awe.

Not only did she barely miss words, but she also had photographic memory. That’s also why he was worried about reminding her about their parents.

After all, it was only because she was a kid that her mind changed constantly.

"Hmm! You need to train this exercise every day."

He pointed at the puppet and continued.

"When you can break this thing with a punch, I will take you out."

"Promise?"

Maria excitedly raised her pinky finger.

"Promise!"

Marx held her pinky with his before leaving the Pagoda.

As soon as he came out, he rushed towards Arashi City.

Six hours later;

He entered Arashi City.

’First, let’s go to the Taixu Treasure House. Then, buy more of the ingredients!’

Marx went to the Treasure House just as he planned.

He was quite surprised when he was directly brought to a special room by the worker.

Not only that, but the worker also brought him some tea before Tina even arrived.

Marx didn’t comment on their behavior. It was normal for businesses to take care of their potential big clients better than normal clients.

He had only taken a few sips of his tea when Tina appeared.

"When I heard about your arrival, I was quite surprised. I heard the news that you left the city a week ago."

Tina sat in front of him. The worker brought another teacup and placed it on the table, filling it with tea from the kettle.

"It seems like you found my location. Considering the size of your Treasure House, I shouldn’t be surprised."

Marx nodded.

Because he spent nearly four days in Pagoda, producing a large number of pills, trying to make Great-Grade Pills.

Although he didn’t succeed, he did get an understanding of where his skill level lay.

"Of course, you’re our potential client after all. So, did you get the flame?"

Tina asked. She was genuinely curious.

"Of course, I did."

Marx smiled, raising his right hand index finger. A bright red flame appeared over it.

But he quickly removed it and took out several of the small jars.

"These are my recent products. I need more ingredients. By the way, what do you think about my previous terms?"

Marx asked, with a sneaky smile on his lips.

Tina couldn’t help but feel speechless. She took one of the jars, pulled out the cork, and smelled the medicine.

In an instant, she knew the smell was twenty times stronger than before. Of course, the bad smell had also been removed.

The good pill would produce seventy percent of its true smell. In the case of the Qi Enhancing Pill, it smelled like a white lily.

But it also had a little bit of a burnt smell, due to the lack of control. This didn’t mean the pill was bad, but rather that it hadn’t reached its perfect state.

"It seems like I do need to think about your previous terms."

Tina became a bit silent after putting the cork back.

She never thought he was this good an alchemist.

After all, it was normal for an alchemist to train for years before attempting to make Good or Great Grade Pills.

Only someone with high-level control could improve their alchemy skills fast. Clearly, Marx was the prime example of this type.

"How many pills can you produce in four months?"

Tina took a deep breath and asked.

"I have reached the peak of the Qi Sea Realm. For the next four months, I will be doing nothing but making pills."

"Good! We reach a deal."

Tina extended her hand.

"What if you back down at the last hour?"

Marx asked.

Tina didn’t feel angry at his words. After all, it was normal for someone like him to feel concerned about this.

Marx was already giving a fifty percent discount on his pills. This was the true price of that quota.

So if they back down, he would lose that part of his profit.

Of course, he wouldn’t be at a loss.

Alchemy was a profitable business because it would cost him less than ten percent of the pill’s normal price.

Normal was different from Treasure House’s price.

A Fine-Grade Qi Recovery Pill costs four spirit stones in the Treasure House, but it only costs two spirit stones if bought directly from the alchemist.

This was often done by the newcomers who couldn’t make a lot of Fine-Grade Pills.

They sell their pills on the open market rather than in a treasure house.

That meant that at the cost of one Qi Recovery Pill, he could make ten Qi Recovery Pills of Fine-Grade.

And that was for buyers, not sellers. Because of his previous terms, he could only sell at one spirit stone per Qi Recovery Pill.

Fortunately, he could still make five Qi Recovery Pills at his current selling price.

"Don’t worry, I will sign a contract. How many days did you take to make these pills?"

"Four!"

"Since you can make fifty pills a day, you must make six thousand pills within four months. This will be in the contract."

Marx thought for a second and nodded.

"Deal!"

Tina smiled brightly.

"By the way, my niece is here with her friend. While I am preparing the contract, would you like to meet her?"
