Chapter 182: Chapter 43 – The Laufgraan War 18

Like an erupting volcano, Matthew rose to the sky flung by Ffyr covered in dark smoke. For those watching from afar, it was a bright contrast of his miasma on the night sky against Oifan’s lights.

The elf attacked Matthew with laser beams and balls of light that exploded near him, while Ffyr made him fly with wind magic.

Matthew used his sword to protect himself from the attacks the fairy was unable to make him dodge.

He used his Copy skill to counter with his own laser beams and exploding light balls. He also shot at Oifan bullets covered in unholy fire.

The whole encampment was now looking up at the battle happening above the canopy of the nearby forest.

Streaks of blue fire, bright white lasers, bright orange fireballs explosions and huge flashes of purple light covered the sky as if it was a firework show. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

When Matthew finally got close enough from Oifan, he first struck the elf with a kick that was stopped by a mana shield. Then he slashed at the elf cutting a piece of his cloth and igniting his clothes in unholy flames.

Oifan managed to fly away and tore the piece of his robe that was on fire, letting it fall on the ground.

However, he didn’t have much time to rest, Ffyr was relentless in her assault against him with fireballs, forcing him to keep moving in the air to avoid her.

Matthew’s bullets kept on hitting the elf’s defenses while Ffyr moved him expertly in the air. Matthew also applied Lingering Mana on his Unholy Mana skill, making the miasma last longer in the sky and darkening the area to reduce his opponent’s vision.

Oifan managed to hit Matthew several times, but despite causing damage and sometimes piercing his armor and hitting skin, the human healed himself every time. The elf, however, was unable to hit Ffyr because she kept hiding behind Matthew’s miasma that covered the sky.

When Ffyr flung Matthew close again to Oifan, he brought his sword down with enough force to send the elf flying towards the ground. He managed to stop just shy from hitting the floor, but Matthew fell down on him with another strike.

Oifan protected himself with a mana shield, but the force of the strike made his feet sink into the forest floor.

Before the elf could do anything, Matthew emptied his last clip on his belly at pointblank.

Oifan frowned, covering his body with a mana armor to resist the attack, but feeling the force of the bullets pressing his skin.

Matthew stored his gun in his Inventory and slashed with his sword covered in blue flames.

The elf mana a shield of mana to defend himself and created a sword made of light to attack Matthew at close range.

Now the two were trading blows at close range.

Oifan connected a punch to Matthew’s face that sent his helmet flying away and slashed at his side, bending the armor that deflected the strike.

Matthew then stabbed at the elf, cutting his robes and opening a small wound that bled, but didn’t catch on fire.

Then Oifan slashed at Matthew’s head who dodged it, but the sword made of light cut and burned some of his hair.

In the next movement, Matthew hit the elf on the shoulder who resisted the attack covering himself in mana armor.

In the next movement, Oifan pierced Matthew’s shoulder with a laser beam, opening another hole on his armor.

In the next movement, Matthew punched the elf’s face breaking a tooth and drawing blood.

In the next movement, Oifan slashed Matthew’s face, cutting off his earlobe.

The two traded blows like that for a while until the elf blew Matthew away who flew into a tree making it shake violently.

Matthew took a deep breath, sitting on the floor and healing himself. He took out a mana potion from his Inventory, but Oifan broke it with a laser beam while it was still in his hand.

Matthew looked at the elf, who slowly walked towards him.

"You fought well." Oifan praised him. "But it’s over. You’re out of mana. Surrender and I’ll show you mercy."

Matthew knew he was right. Despite Unholy Mana more than doubling his stats, his MP was still that of a level 38 adventurer. The battle took too long and he used too much mana, especially when they were fighting in the air.

"I won’t." Matthew smiled at the elf.

At that moment, Ffyr threw a powerful fireball at the elf, who protected himself with a mana wall and countered with a dozen laser beams. One of which pierced the fairy’s wing, making her fall to the ground.

"Last chance to surrender." Oifan said.

Matthew then threw his sword at the elf lodging it in his thigh.

Oifan screamed loudly while the unholy fire started to burn him from the inside.

"Baifmalala!" Oifan cursed in his native tongue.

Ffyr also didn’t surrender, throwing a fireball at the elf, which made him stumble and fall to the floor.

"That’s it!" He screamed and shot a laser beam at Ffyr piercing her stomach.

Then he turned to Matthew who was standing up and trying to rush at the elf and shot another laser beam that pierced his armor on the right side of his chest.

"Die!" Oifan shouted.

But, before he could cast his spell another light beam came from between the trees and trespassed the elf’s head.

From all the fighting, he too was low on mana and his Vital Shield was severely damaged. That made him weak enough for Mia to sneak in and kill the elf before he could kill Matthew.

"Matt!" She screamed running towards him.

"Bring Ffyr to me!" Matthew ordered while drinking a mana potion.

Mia Strength was 0, meaning she had no mana enhanced muscle power. Even though Ffyr was very light, she struggled to drag the fairy towards Matthew while he drank the potion and healed himself.

"Th-thank you." Ffyr baubled in pain to Mia.

Matthew quickly got over his familiar and healed the hole she had in her belly.

"You’ll be fine." He said.

"It hurts like hell." Ffyr said when she finally could.

Matthew then applied Anesthesia on her.

"Here. Is this better?"

"A lot."

After Ffyr was finally out of danger, Matthew sat back against the same tree he was flung against and took a deep relieved breath.

"You saved us." He said, looking at Mia.

"Guess we’re even now." Mia chuckled.

"Really, Mia. We’d be dead. Thank you."

The girl smiled and sat by Matthew’s side, shoulder to shoulder.

"We should get back to camp." Ffyr said, struggling to get up after a moment of silence.

"Yes. I’m pretty sure we need medical attention." Matthew added.

Mia tried to help Matthew get up, but only stumbled with his weight and the weight of his armor. It was him who held her up, preventing her from falling and making her blush.

They arrived at camp with Matthew carrying Oifan’s body and Mia helping Ffyr to walk.

The soldiers cheered upon his return.

"Terra ok far! Terra ok far!"

They took Oifan’s body and treated it with the utmost respect.

Upon hearing the chanting, Faralynn threw out all decorum. She ran at full speed and hugged Matthew with all her strength.

"You won!" She cried softly on his shoulder.

"Thanks to Mia. She got in just in time to save us. She was the one who killed him." Matthew said.

Faralynn looked at Mia with wide eyes. Then she hugged him just as hard.

"Thank you, Mia!" The elf said with tears in her eyes.

"We need to take them to the doctors." Tina arrived later than Faralynn, but did not fail to notice how wounded Ffyr and Matthew were.

"Oh! Right. Quickly." Faralynn said, opening way for them to go to the healing tent.

While Ffyr was in surgery to properly heal the wound in her belly. Matthew was being treated by Erin and an elven doctor. He didn’t need any surgery.

It is then that Countess Azan entered the tent.

She looked at Matthew’s naked torso that was having his bruises properly healed. She studied his body with clinical eyes.

"You’ve done a heavy blow on Farynn today, shield." She said with a cold voice, speaking English for the first time. "Farzan was right about you. You did well." The countess added before leaving.

Matthew was then informed that being praised by Azan was not a mere thing. She was an elf that lived for more than a thousand years. She had very high standards.

Matthew, however, had no idea how to react to that and just smiled politely.

After being healed, he put on his gambeson again. His armor was taken to be repaired and Ffyr got out of surgery well, but needed to rest.

It’s only when he got back to Faralynn’s tent that he noticed.

"Congratulations!

You drew a tier 1 class!

Warrior"
