Chapter 333: Chapter 333: Let Hah’Er Play with You for a While

Shen Yibin now stood on the same large rock as before. The cat teaser had grown to over two meters long. Running in a large circle around the rock was no easy feat, but the Clouded Leopard, like a silly cat, drooled as it chased the fluffy ball at the end of the teaser, running in wide circles.

’Haha, this is hilarious! Most people only get to tease Siamese Cats or bobcats. Who else has the guts to tease a Clouded Leopard like I am? With this cat teaser in hand, I don’t have to worry about it attacking me anymore.’ Shen Yibin completely relaxed. He started gleefully waving the cat teaser, making the poor Clouded Leopard perform all sorts of difficult maneuvers. One moment it was running in circles, the next in a figure-eight, then in an S-pattern, and then even a B-pattern.

"EEEP! EEEP!" The monkey in the tree was completely dumbfounded. It squatted on a branch, scratching its head, unable to comprehend how the once-ferocious Clouded Leopard had suddenly turned into... whatever this was.

"Mmm!" Hah’Er also cracked a smile. It seemed there was no longer any reason to worry about their safety. It raised its right paw, mimicking Shen Yibin waving the cat teaser, and made circles above its head, as if it wanted a turn to play. Meanwhile, Maphario pulled a piece of nut candy from his pocket and munched on it contentedly while watching the spectacle, just like watching a circus performance. The only thing missing was a pot of brewed tea and a lounge chair for him to recline on comfortably.

’If I can handle a Clouded Leopard, does that mean I can handle Mr. Tattoo too? Maybe next time I should try taking the cat teaser for a stroll through the tiger enclosure at the Yunzhong City Zoo? If that brat Hou Longtao ever falls into the tiger pen, I wouldn’t have to worry. I could just rescue him with the cat teaser!’ Shen Yibin couldn’t help but let his imagination run wild.

’Since the cat teaser really works, does that mean the other products from the pet shop are just as amazing? Maybe when Sun Qian gets back, I could buy her an Eco-Simulated Pet Cage. That way, Cheeky could experience the familiar atmosphere of the Amazon rainforest anytime. Ugh, but that stuff is so expensive.’ Shen Yibin winced at the thought of the cost.

The poor Clouded Leopard had run more than ten laps around the large rock without a break, and its pace had slowed noticeably. Clouded Leopards are known for their explosive bursts of speed, but their stamina is only average. Besides, it was accustomed to moving through the trees; long-distance running on flat ground wasn’t its strong suit. The intense burst of activity had taken a huge toll on its energy.

’Faster, faster! Once you’re completely exhausted, I can hurry and give that drunk monkey its medicine. It’ll be a lot harder if it wakes up.’ Shen Yibin urged it on, his hands moving even faster. The cat teaser made a WHOOSHING sound as it cut through the air. Below the rock, the Clouded Leopard panted heavily, still giving chase. Despite being so tired it was drenched in sweat, the animal refused to abandon the teaser.

After teasing the poor creature for another ten minutes, Shen Yibin saw its steps growing slower and slower and didn’t have the heart to continue. ’After all, the Clouded Leopard is a nationally protected animal,’ he thought. ’It’s enough that we’re safe. I can’t go and exhaust it. That would be a serious crime.’

He stopped and held the cat teaser up high. The Clouded Leopard looked up, saw it had no hope of reaching it, and promptly collapsed onto the ground. It panted heavily, gasping for air. Having not eaten all day and then engaging in such strenuous activity, it was now so tired and hungry it felt like it was dying. It didn’t have the strength to move an inch.

"Hah’Er, drag my backpack over!" Once he was sure the Clouded Leopard was no longer a threat, Shen Yibin quickly called for Hah’Er to come down. ’It looks like it doesn’t have the energy to hunt anymore,’ he thought. ’I’ve got some lunch meat in my bag. I’ll give it some to tide it over.’

"Mmm!" Hah’Er had been extremely curious about what was happening, but without an order from Shen Yibin, it could only stay in the tree and watch. The moment it heard the command, it immediately slid down the tree trunk, scampered over to the backpack, and began dragging it toward Shen Yibin.

When Hah’Er reached the base of the rock, Shen Yibin reached down to take the backpack, then pulled Hah’Er up onto the rock with him. He rummaged through the bag, pulled out a can of lunch meat, opened it, and used his pocketknife to scoop out a chunk, which he tossed down to the Clouded Leopard. "Here, see if you like this. You must be tired after all that running. Go on, have something to eat."

"EEEP!" The monkey that had traded him for the energy bar swung over to a nearby branch. It glanced back and forth between the Clouded Leopard and the lunch meat in Shen Yibin’s hand, seemingly wondering if the stuff was tasty.

The chunk of lunch meat landed in front of the Clouded Leopard. It struggled to lift its head, leaned in to sniff it, then flicked out its tongue and lapped it up. After smacking its lips a few times, it looked back up at Shen Yibin, apparently quite pleased with the taste.

"Here, have another piece! Let’s make a deal, okay? You’ve had your fun, and you’ve had some meat. So how about you don’t attack us again, alright?" Shen Yibin mumbled as he sliced off another piece.

He glanced at the monkey in the tree, which was practically drooling, and casually tossed a piece up to it as well. The monkey lunged and snatched the lunch meat out of the air. It glanced over at the sleeping monkey, then ultimately stuffed the treat into its own mouth.

"I’ve cut it up. You can toss it the rest. I need to get a drink of water." Shen Yibin was exhausted, too. He handed the can to Hah’Er, pulled a bottle of water from his bag, and started chugging it down. GULP, GULP, GULP.

Hah’Er often fed the pets at the shop, so this task was a piece of cake. Before long, the Clouded Leopard had polished off the entire can of lunch meat. Having regained some of its strength, it fixed its gaze back on the fluffy ball at the end of the cat teaser.

"Here, you play with it for a bit, just like I was doing." Shen Yibin handed the cat teaser directly to Hah’Er. ’That monkey will probably wake up soon,’ he thought. ’I need to hurry and get this done.’

"Mmm!" Hah’Er cheerfully took the cat teaser and began waving it back and forth on one side of the rock. The Clouded Leopard immediately started running back and forth, following the fluffy ball. Seizing the opportunity, Shen Yibin quietly slipped down from the other side of the rock and tiptoed toward the large tree where the other monkey was sleeping. The monkey that had taken the energy bar was so engrossed in watching the Clouded Leopard that it hadn’t noticed him yet.

Just like that, Shen Yibin reached the base of the large tree without a hitch. He hugged the trunk with his arms and legs, pushing himself up, then grabbed a branch and hauled himself higher. Before long, he had successfully reached the spot where the monkey was sleeping.

Even with such a huge commotion happening down below, the monkey hadn’t been disturbed in the slightest. It was still lying there comfortably, fast asleep and snoring. The reek of alcohol made Shen Yibin wrinkle his nose.

"Heh, it’s a miracle you’ve survived this long," Shen Yibin said, shaking his head with a smile. ’Life in the jungle isn’t exactly peaceful, and monkeys have plenty of predators. This one is clearly an old drunk. How has no animal ever taken advantage of it and eaten it while it was passed out?’

After his brief chuckle, Shen Yibin took out the pill and prepared to give it to the monkey.
