Chapter 64: What Is It About Princess?

"Well, we are not the ones going after him," I muttered. I tried to convince myself that we could just walk away from this and pretend it never happened.

"Princess will find him and try to kill him. Don’t you get it?" Malo said. He was pacing now, his boots scuffing against the polished wood of the court.

"Princess and her friends said they will have a chitchat with him later on," I reminded him. I wanted to believe that was all it would be. Just a talk.

"Faye, that chitchat is going to turn into a bloodbath. She will expel him and want to kill him for real. Peamah doesn’t want to be disturbed because he said he wants to concentrate on his basketball. If he gets expelled, no basketball, no championship. He will pin his entire downfall on us and rage," Malo said.

"Princess is not going to allow that. She is an Alpha. She can beat him," I said, though my voice lacked the confidence....

"Sorry, but did you not hear what he just said? He called Princess a baby Alpha. He wasn’t scared of her at all. He is fast and he is strong. I have been watching him closely. His powers are similar to that of an Alpha but more like a hedge wolf. He is a predator, and to him Princess is just prey," Sasha said.

And I hate to admit it, but she was kind of right. That dude is fucking fast. His strength and speed are way beyond any hedge wolf I have seen or heard about. He is something different entirely.

And Princess has this terrifying instinct of trying to kill anyone who even tries to harm me. That hedge wolf from that night, and then on Saturday she almost killed Sasha without even blinking. If she goes after Peamah thinking he’s is a threat to me, she’s going to get a nasty surprise.

Something deep in me felt uneasy. I felt a cold knot of dread tightening in my stomach. I was actually scared of what would happen to Princess if she faced Peamah in a real fight.

"Do you think Princess has seen everything on the camera?" I asked. I stared up at the black dome on the wall, wondering if her eyes were behind it right this second, watching us stand here like idiots.

"I don’t think so. If she had seen it, she would have been here already, tearing the doors off the hinges," Malo said. He reached into his pocket and brought out his phone to check the time. He squinted at the screen. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"Good. She is having her private class right now, so that means she hasn’t seen the footage yet. And her class will be over in exactly ten minutes. Which means we have ten minutes to get into her private office and erase the video," he said.

"No way. She didn’t see it live, so why would she even want to rewatch it later?" I asked. It seemed like a lot of work for a maybe.

"Because it’s Princess. She monitors this entire school as the president, and she will eventually check what happened during the time she was in her private class. She always rewatches the tapes. And recently, you have been the one she has been monitoring during every single one of your school hours," Sasha said.

"I am offended," I muttered. I felt a flush of heat rise to my face.

"Don’t be. You are carrying her pups, she needs to, remember the last time you left town was to go find wolfsbane to kill her pups," Malo reminded me.

I can’t believe she still doesn’t trust me after everything. She tracks me, she monitors me during school hours, and I’m sure she probably does it when I am at home too. I will say it. She is way too much. It’s suffocating.

"So you want to go into her private office while she is in her special private class? Speaking of private classes, why the hell does she even have that? There is no exam happening right now," I said.

"Princess’s private class is for her mental health. She takes it three times a week just to balance herself out," Sasha said.

Malo immediately gave her a sharp, warning look.

"Really? Because you worked for Princess for one week doesn’t give you the right to tell her private business to anyone. It’s Princess’s personal information, and if she finds out you told someone, she won’t take it lightly at all. You should have read her employee manual," he said.

"I am not just someone. I am carrying her pups. Is there anything I should know about my pups’ mom?" I asked, looking between the two of them.

"I can’t tell you. It’s my boss’s personal information. I just got my job back, I am not going to lose it again, so no," Malo said firmly. He wasn’t going to budge. He valued his paycheck too much.

So I turned to the other one. Sasha was the weak link here.

"What about you, Sasha? Tell me. This is your big chance to prove yourself to the group," I said.

I waited. I really wanted to know what was going on in Princess’s head. This is Princess we are talking about. The girl who is currently sharing my life.

"On Saturday, you saw how Beam and Kiara were searching for Princess. That wasn’t the first time that has happened," Sasha said, her voice dropping to a whisper.

I already knew that part, I also knew why she was hiding from them....

"She has always been like that. If you are close to her, you will start to notice the signs. Sometimes she is distant, like she’s in another world, and sometimes she is too close, like she is literally suffocating you. Sometimes she is really down, and sometimes she is hyper and can’t stop moving."

Sasha paused for a second, making sure the coast was clear.

"There was a time Princess went missing for two whole weeks. She was eventually found unconscious and wounded in the woods. That was two years ago. The doctors still don’t know exactly why she acts the way she does, but the mental class is to help her manage it and figure it out for herself."

Wow. My chest felt a little tight. So it’s not just because of the stress with Beam and Kiara. She has always been struggling with this. I remembered what she said to me once. She said she doesn’t know when she is being too much or not. She really is broken in a way I didn’t fully understand.

"Well, Sasha, you are definitely in trouble for sharing that," Malo said. "But right now, we need to find a serious distraction so I can get into Princess’s office and erase that video before she gets there."

Then he turned to look at me. He had that look in his eyes, like I was the magic solution to his problem.

"What?" I said slowly, taking a step back.

And he just smiled.
