Chapter 265: Princess Warned Kiara

Faye only had 10 minutes for lunch, and she happened to spend it with her kids. The school day was already packing a heavy punch, leaving her tank completely drained, so she had bolted down the hallway the second the bell rang, desperate to catch a glimpse of the nursery room before her time ran out.

She lay flat on the play floor. Two of the pups were asleep while the others were playing with her. She was stretched out completely across the soft foam mats, letting the exhaustion sink deep into her bones while Minny crawled right over her stomach.

Then Princess walked in. The door swung open with a quiet creak, her familiar alpha scent filling the room instantly and causing Faye to lift her head up from the floor.

"Hi," she said, bending down and touching her son’s cheeks. Princess dropped her school bag by the entrance and walked straight over, her eyes softening the moment she looked down at the little bundle of energy rolling around near Faye’s legs.

Ranny.

Princess picked him up and tossed him gently into the air as he giggled. She caught him smoothly under his arms, his high pitched laughter echoing off the walls, he was happy to see his Mama.

"Hi," Faye replied. She let out a slow breath, pushing herself up from the mat until she was standing on her own feet.

She brushed a bit of loose lint off her pants, knowing her limited minutes were already ticking down way too fast.

"You can stay. I will be leaving soon," Princess said. She held Ranny close against her shoulder, her voice soft as she noticed the tired lines under Faye’s eyes.

"Don’t worry. I have 5 minutes to get to the cafeteria and grab something to eat," Faye replied. She gave a small, forced smile, her stomach letting out a quiet growl at the mere thought of school food.

She was about to open the door when Kiara entered. Kiara stepped right into the room with her head held high, the sharp scent of her perfume cutting right through the comforting smell of the nursery.

"Oh, there you are, Princess. I’ve been searching for you. We have to get ready for sports," She completely brushed past Faye’s shoulder, using her body to crowd right into Princess’s space while keeping her eyes locked onto the alpha.

"It’s not time for sports yet. What are you talking about?" Princess asked, looking confused. She stepped back a fraction of an inch, her eyebrows knitting together as she adjusted her hold on her son.

"Oh, my timetable must be wrong. I thought sports was supposed to be after lunch break. So, what are you having for lunch? Same as yesterday?" Kiara asked, her voice dropping into a smooth, familiar tone that made Faye’s jaw lock instantly.

"Hmm," Princess replied. She didn’t offer any more words, her attention shifting away from the girl in front of her.

Then her eyes stopped on Faye.

Faye was staring at the two of them. She was standing perfectly still by the door frame, her hands clenching into tight fists inside her hoodie pockets.

Her expression was unreadable, but there was jealousy in her eyes. A hot flare of pure wolf irritation was burning deep behind her stare, her pulse quickening as she watched the way Kiara leaned closer to her girlfriend.

"Oh, something is on your face..." Kiara said as she reached out and touched Princess’s face. She lifted her hand with a slow, deliberate movement, her fingers brushing right against Princess’s cheekbone as if she had every right to be there.

"If you don’t get your fucking fingers off my girlfriend, I’m going to chop them off," Faye snapped. The words bared out of her mouth before she could even think to check her temper, her inner wolf snarling loudly at the open display of disrespect.

"Hey," Kiara said, covering Ranny’s ears while Princess still held him. "Don’t say the F-word in the presence of little children, especially Alphas. They have very good hearing." She rolled her eyes, her voice dripping with fake concern as she kept her hands pressed gently against the pup’s head.

Faye was about to push the argument further.

Kiara was purposely provoking her, and she knew it. The smug little curve of the girl’s lips was a direct challenge, an invisible line drawn right on the ground between them.

Then Faye’s wristwatch buzzed. The heavy vibration rattled against her wrist, the loud alarm cutting through the high tension of the room like a slap in the face.

Her ten minutes were over.

She couldn’t afford to be late because any extra time would be added to her study time. The image of the principal’s cold, calculating face flashed in her mind, reminding her that she was already on incredibly thin ice.

She stared at Kiara, who couldn’t care less, and then at Princess, who was so focused on Ranny that she didn’t immediately react to the situation. She was turning the boy around, completely occupied with fixing his collar while the argument hung heavily in the air.

Faye turned away from the two of them and headed toward her study class.

When Princess was done dusting a bit of dirt from Ranny’s hair, she placed him back down. She set his little feet flat on the mat, patting his back gently.

The nanny in charge took over playing with the little boy. She rolled a colorful ball toward him, easily catching his attention and drawing him back into the center of the play zone.

He wanted to continue playing with his Mama, but Princess had to leave.

She said goodbye to the rest of the pups, even though two of them were already asleep. She blew them a quiet kiss, her heart sinking a bit at the heavy atmosphere that still lingered in the room.

The moment Princess and Kiara stepped out of the pups’ classroom, Princess stopped near the entrance and turned to face Kiara.

"What are you doing?" Princess asked. Her voice was completely bare of any warmth, her eyes locking onto Kiara with a dangerous intensity.

"What?" Kiara asked, tilting her head with an innocent shrug.

"Don’t act stupid. What was with that tone you used earlier when Faye was around? And sports time? What are you doing, Kiara? Are you trying to get close to me?" Princess demanded. She stepped closer, her alpha presence flaring just enough to make the air in the empty hallway feel incredibly heavy.

"Why would I be trying to get close to you? We’re over each other and we’re just friends. Earlier, I was simply pulling Faye’s leg. Nothing serious." Kiara defended, her voice remaining casual as she checked her fingernails.

"Stop it. Faye doesn’t like it, and I don’t like it. I hate it when she’s angry. Stop giving her reasons to think there’s something between us because there never will be." Princess snapped. She reached out, her fingers gripping Kiara’s arm just tight enough to ensure the girl was fully paying attention.

Princess stared directly at her.

"If you cross your boundaries, I’m going to cut you off and find another third player. Don’t touch my face ever again. If there’s dirt or an ant on my face, leave it there. This should not happen again." Princess warned, her voice dropping into a freezing whisper that left absolutely zero room for games.

Kiara remained silent. She looked down at the floor, her jaw tightening as she swallowed whatever retort she wanted to throw back.

"We should be having lunch in the school cafeteria from now on. We’re not elites anymore." Princess added, her tone final and binding.

Princess warned Kiara, not wanting anything to cause problems in her relationship with Faye. She couldn’t lose the life she was building, and she certainly couldn’t let past ghosts wreck her home.

Last night, when Faye walked out during dinner simply because Kiara had been mentioned, it had genuinely hurt Princess. The memory of the empty kitchen chair and the clatter of the fork hitting the plate still felt like a heavy weight pressing down on her chest.

Princess had spent the entire afternoon gaming, but at seven o’clock she stopped because she didn’t want Faye going to bed eating junk food or cereal again. She had shut down her console early, abandoning her game because she knew her girlfriend needed real food after a grueling day of study sessions.

So she decided to make enchiladas for dinner. She had spent an hour in the kitchen, carefully measuring out the ingredients to make sure it turned out exactly the way Faye liked it.

She regretted letting Kiara help her. If she could go back in time, she would have pushed the girl right out of the clubhouse doors before she ever had a chance to touch the recipe.

Even this morning, the atmosphere between her and Faye had been awkward. The entire house had felt like a freezer from the moment they woke up.

It was just a simple "Hi."

Then silence.

And that silence remained until they arrived at school.
