Chapter 200: Princess Shuts Faye

I hated the fact that they were all staring at me, like what the fuck was that? Their eyes were heavy, filled with a silent accusation that made my skin crawl. It was like they were looking at a monster instead of a person.

Before I could say a word, Malo suggested we should head back to the club before something creepier started. His voice was shaking, and he kept glancing at the dark woods surrounding the road like he expected a ghost to jump out. With no questions asked, we all left the scene, moving fast. We left the bike on the road right there, its metal frame looking lonely and strange in the middle of the empty street.

"Okay, why the fuck did you guys give me that kind of look?" I said the moment we all stepped inside the club.

Princess sat by the bar counter, her silhouette dark against the backlit bottles. She was on her fifth smoke now, the gray clouds swirling around her head like a storm. She hadn’t said anything since we got back. Even in the car she was quiet, her jaw set tight while Malo was busy wrapping her medicine. I did use that opportunity to watch him do it, focusing on the way his fingers folded the paper so I too can help wrap up my girlfriend’s smokes later.

Beam relaxed on the couch, her head back and her eyes closed, though I knew she wasn’t sleeping. Kiara entered the bar to grab a bottle of rum and pour it into a glass, the liquid amber and thick. She took a long sip before she broke the silence. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

"Someone’s heart was ripped out, and she happened to stand up and walk out on her own. There’s only one person capable of raising the dead..." she said, giving me that look that meant she was referring to me. Her eyes were sharp, mocking.

"Ohhh, so you guys think I raised the biker girl.... that would be amazing by the way, except I have to bite a person before they die for them to come back to life," I said, my voice rising in frustration. I felt the heat crawling up my neck.

"Well, they didn’t get summoned, or happen to be an Alpha whose heart can regenerate...." Kiara said, swirling her glass.

"Also, if I were to have happened to bite her, it would have taken hours, like 7 to 8 hours, for her fucking heart to regrow," I said, crossing my arms over my chest. I felt the weight of the pups shifting, and I took a deep breath to steady myself.

What is wrong with these people? I have never met that biker girl before, that was the first time I’d ever seen her face, and they all had the assumption that I had something to do with her disappearing body. It was ridiculous. Fucking no.

Even if I happened to do that subconsciously, even if my powers were acting out on their own, it would still take hours.

Getting lectured by Yuki and Uncle PP about the moon wolf made me know that much. I haven’t thought about using that power because I do not wish to explore it after what happened to Peamah and Yuki wanting me to embrace my powers.

I was waiting to give birth and get to know my abilities.potential first before thinking of experimenting. I didn’t want to be a science project.

I turned my face to Princess, who focused on her cigarette, the tip glowing bright orange as she inhaled.

"Princess, do you really think I was behind that?"

"I did not say anything..." Princess muttered, her voice low and husky.

"But you thought about it, your eyes said so," I said, stepping closer to her. I needed her to be on my side, to tell the others to shut up.

Princess was quiet. She checked her phone, the screen illuminating her face, then looked up.

"Babe, you need to sleep. It’s late, so please go to bed..."

Did that word just come out of her mouth? What am I, some child that has curfew? The dismissal stung worse than the accusation.

"Why are you fucking using that tone on me? Do I look like some fucking child for you to tame?" I said, my hands balling into fists.

"Faye, you are heavily pregnant and you need to rest after what happened today. I am only looking out for your health, and sorry if my words are harsh, but please go to bed... I need to have a discussion with them..." Princess said, her tone firm but tired. She then looked at Malo, who was quiet in the corner. "MG, you also go home, it’s late...."

"Oh no, I will go grab a blanket and sleep in one of the rooms... I need to wait for the sun to be out..." he said, walking away quickly. He didn’t want to be in the middle of this argument.

I folded my hands tightly, hating the fact that Princess was shutting me out after her fucking friend blamed me for a missing body. It felt like she was siding with them, or at least didn’t trust me enough to let me stay.

I wanted to shout at her for giving me that tone, to make a scene that would shake the walls of the club, but all I did was glare at her. I turned and left them in the bar room, my footsteps loud on the hardwood.

I entered our room and sat on the edge of the bed, trying to calm down. My heart was racing, and I could feel the adrenaline still buzzing in my fingertips. I was also trying to calm myself so I could eavesdrop on what the trio were talking about. I leaned toward the door, my hearing sharpening.

I heard Kiara telling Princess that I might be the one behind the biker’s disappeared body, her voice full of that same annoying certainty. But instantly Princess shut her up, her voice snapping like a whip, saying I wasn’t the one and warning her not to say anything about the moon wolf out loud like that.

They talked about how it was possible for the body to leave that quickly. Beam’s voice was a low growl, saying the body should be dead, that she felt the heart stop in her hand.

They concluded that they needed to be careful, because they had no idea what they were dealing with. If it wasn’t me, then something else was out there in Oakland, something that didn’t stay dead.

I heard Princess coming, the soft click of her heels in the hallway. I quickly pretended to lay on my side of the bed, pulling the duvet up and covering myself with the blanket. The moment I heard the key card touch the door panel and the lock click open, I closed my eyes and slowed my breathing.

Princess entered. She paused for a moment by the door, the silence stretching. I could feel her gaze on me. She walked over to my side, confirming if I was sleeping, the scent of smoke and expensive cologne following her. I felt her hand on my face, a soft touch that almost made me give in, then she stood up and went into the closet to change into her nightwear.

She came back and climbed onto her side of the bed, the mattress dipping under her weight. She tried to tuck into the blanket, her hand reaching out for the edge, but I refused to share with her. I held onto it with both hands, gripping the fabric tight and not giving her access to the blanket.

It was to show that I was pretty angry with her. I lay there in the dark, my back to her, clutching the quilt and waiting to see if she would try to take it back.
