Chapter 17: 48 Hours
Faye POV
"This better be something worth it because I don’t like to be interrupted." Finally, she is here. She took so long to get here. She walked inside the office, arms folded, standing at the door while Beam stood outside. "What do you want, omega, that you got the whole school in chaos?"
"I need to tell you something that is really going to change my life and yours. Mostly my life. It’s about that night," I said immediately as I stood up from the chair. My legs felt stiff when I stood. She was silent. Just staring, the she opened her mouth to speak.
"What night? Is it about what happened yesterday? Just know it was a mistake. I didn’t...."
"I’m pregnant." I did not beat around the bush. I just said it out loud. The word sat between us. Heavy. She unfolded her arms slowly.
"What?"
"And just so you know, it’s yours."
"What!?" Now her voice was loud. The sound bounced off the walls. That is how shocked I was when I found out. "What the fuck are you saying? How are you?"
"I know right?. I am also surprised. How is it possible that you got me pregnant? Even if I don’t remember all of what happened that night, you have no fucking dick so how the fuck does an Alpha female...?"
My chest was rising too fast. I could hear my own breathing.
"Are you fucking fooling with me right now? Because this is not supposed to happen," she whispered.
"Oh no I am not fooling you." I brought out the test results from my jacket pocket and gave them to her.
"What is that?" she asked.
"A fucking proof that I am pregnant and if you are still doubting we can go to a fucking clinic to get a test done." I said. She kept looking at my hand and since she was not going to take it I lifted her hand and placed it in her palm. Her fingers were warm. Mine were cold. "You are the only one I have been with and..."
"Don’t you take contraceptive pills? How could you allow this to happen? Now now when I am this close to getting what I want"
Did she just fucking admit it? My stomach twisted.
"What, so you fucking have a dick?"
"No, I don’t have a dick."
"Then how the fuck did this happen?"
"Are you fucking dumb? You don’t know the werewolf reproductive system? This is why you should focus during class."
Her voice was controlled. Mine was not.
"Girl I need you to fix it. My brother is going to kill me when he finds out that I broke one of his rules. He told me to stay away from Alphas. Now I know why," I said, wishing she had said something sensible next.
"I have exams so I will focus on that first. After that I will find a solution to this. Just after 48 hours we will discuss this. I need to go back to class," she said, turning to the door.
48 hours.
No.
I blocked her. My body moved before my brain did. No we need to settle this today. Eriko might tell my brother after today.
"Princess, exams should be the fucking least of our problems. We need to find a solution ASAP," I pleaded. I was holding her hand. I did not even know when I grabbed it. She looked down at my hand like it offended her and removed it.
"Who is we? There was never an us. You were the one who came into my room, ripped my clothes, and forced yourself on me. And to make it worse you didn’t use contraceptive pills and got yourself pregnant and now you are saying we. Girl just fucking stay put and let me finish my exams. So do... nothing," she dictated. Her words hit hard. Forced yourself on me.
My mouth opened but nothing came out.
Then she opened the door. Beam was standing outside. She had heard everything. Her eyes flicked from me to Princess.
"Come on Beam let’s go," Princess said.
Beam gave me a look before following her. Not pity. Not hate. Just a look.
And I just stood in the hallway, not knowing what to say anymore. My legs felt weak. My ears were ringing again but softer this time. I don’t know how to break this news to my brother.
I went back to class and continued my classes. I did not write anything in my notebook. I just stared at the board and nodded when the teacher looked my way. My fingers kept touching my stomach without me thinking about it.
During the mid break, I couldn’t find Malo around, so I went to his class to ask for his whereabouts. As usual, no one talked to me. A few looked at me then looked away. I turned around to leave, and I was in the hallway when I heard voices coming from classroom 10A.
"I can’t believe she broke MG’s jaw and got away with it."
"Oh, poor MG. He won’t be writing the exams because he is going to spend his time in the clinic."
"What does she think she is, beating people around? The Alpha Princess should have expelled her by now. She is not Oak High worthy."
The words overlapped. One after another. Some laughing. Some whispering.
I heard multiple voices coming from different classes. I usually do hear voices, but not this loud. Their voices felt closer, like they were talking directly to me. Like they were standing right behind me. It felt like a whole crowd was in front of me. My chest tightened.
I was listening, but then I felt my inner ears pounding. A sharp thud. Thud. Thud. The sound of blood rushing. I had to cover my ears and leave immediately. My fingers pressed hard against my ears but the voices slipped through.
I walked fast. Almost ran.
I went to the clinic to get earplugs to lower the voices. The nurse looked at me strangely when I asked. She handed them to me without questions. I pushed them in. It didn’t work, but it reduced them a little. The pounding turned into a dull hum.
I saw Malo in one of the beds. His jaw was wrapped. He looked miserable. I walked over to him slowly.
"Hey," I called out.
He looked at me and then looked away.
"I don’t want to talk to you again. I can’t believe you broke my jaw," he said, turning away.
"You deserved it but I didn’t really mean to do that. I didn’t even know that my punch was going to hurt," I said. My voice sounded flat even to me.
He shifted and winced.
"The nurse said it is going to take days for me to heal. Days, freshwolf," he cried.
"I’m sorry." I rolled my eyes. The sorry did not reach my eyes, but I had to say it. "What kind of a person is the Alpha Princess?" I asked.
He turned his head slightly.
"You have lost the right to ask me anything about Princess. And thanks to you I won’t be writing the exams," he said, "which is a good thing because I hate exams. Not like it’s going to put food on the table. Anyways did you get to talk to Princess?"
"Yes I did but she is a jerk ass a very big one," I said.
I could still hear her voice in my head. Just after 48 hours we will discuss this.
Like what will happen after 48 hours?
Will it grow? Will something change? Will she come up with some solution and pretend none of this happened?
This is my life and my body. My fingers pressed against my stomach again. I need to do something before my brother finds out.
