Chapter 159: Not Able To Track Faye
Since Princess couldn’t trace Faye the werewolf way, she didn’t stop trying. She went back to the clothes Faye had left behind, burying her face in the fabric, hoping to pick up even a tiny hint of her scent. But there was nothing. It was like Faye had vanished from the physical world. Faye was completely untraceable. Princess knew that if she, as the bonded mate, couldn’t find her, then no one else stood a chance.
They ended up at PP’s shop, he had spent the last hour brewing a tonic used for tracking wolves. It was a specific recipe, and Princess was the only one who could drink it. To make it work, the person drinking it had to have been intimate with the target.
"So, do you feel any connection now?" Pali asked, watching her closely.
"No... I don’t," Princess replied. Her voice was flat, exhaustion starting to show in the dark circles under her eyes.
That was the seventh time she had forced the potion down. It tasted awful. It was bitter and had a strange, metallic aftertaste that clung to the back of her throat. Princess hated anything bitter, especially medicine or health drinks, but she was ready to drink a hundred more of those vile concoctions if it meant finding her girlfriend. She didn’t care about the taste. She only cared about the silence in her head where Faye’s bond used to be.
"Oh... looks like Faye has been cloaked," Pali said, looking at the way the remaining liquid in the bowl stayed still.
"Cloaked?" Princess asked, her eyes snapping to his.
"It’s a spell cast by a were-witch. It acts like both invisibility and protection at the same time. Right now, Faye is completely hidden from the world. She can’t be traced by scent, sound, or spirit, no matter the spell or potion we use. It can only be undone by the were-witch who cast it," he explained, his expression grave.
"So Yuki is a witch..." MG said. He looked confused, trying to wrap his head around how a fighter could also be a witch.
"Yuki? Is that the name of the MMA fighter?" Pali asked, his brow furrowing.
"Yes. She’s the one who has my girlfriend. The mother of my pups is in the hands of that fucking fighter..." Princess said. She couldn’t sit still anymore. She started pacing the small shop, her movements restless and jagged. She was trying hard to control the Alpha wolf inside her that wanted to tear the door off its hinges.
Pali’s face filled with a new kind of confusion, then realization.
"My aunt did mention something about that young wolf the last time she was her. I didn’t take it seriously at the time. She tends to say a lot of unnecessary things when she’s been drinking her teas... She called Yuki La Venganza. It’s a title given to those who are completely filled with hatred and revenge. A werewolf who seeks vengeance like that has nothing left to lose. They become something else. Their eyes glow with a purple hate when they are near their target..."
The moment he mentioned the word purple, the room went cold. Everyone in the shop believed him instantly. They had all seen Yuki’s eyes glowing in the cage, school.
"Yuki hates Alphas... but what does that have to do with her kidnapping Faye?" Sasha asked, looking around at the group.
"Princess is an Alpha," MG said quietly, the weight of the statement hitting everyone.
"I didn’t do anything wrong to her. I barely know her. So why would she want revenge on me?" Princess said. She didn’t wait for an answer. She turned and headed straight toward the door.
"Where are you going, Princess?" Beam asked, reaching out a hand.
"I can’t just sit here and do nothing while some witch has my mate. I need to find her before something happens to her or the pups. If I have to fight every single wolf in that city to get her back, I will. But first, I need to meet my brother. I need to gather men. I need a real force," Princess said. She didn’t look back as she walked out of the shop.
Everyone stood in the shop, watching through the window as she got into her car and drove off, the tires screeching against the pavement.
"Okay... while she’s doing that, PP, I need more of those location potions. Give me some protection potions too... and those special chocolates for Kali," Malo said, breaking the silence.
He reached over to the counter and gently picked up Kali, the small creature looking up at him with wide eyes. He placed her carefully into her transparent backpack, making sure she was comfortable.
"What are you doing, Malo?" Beam asked, watching him move with a sudden, sharp purpose.
"My best friend has been kidnapped. I’m not sitting around for a meeting. I’m going to save her," he replied. He started grabbing specific herbs and dried flowers from the jars on the shelves, things he easily recognized from his own studies.
"We should wait for Princess. She’s the Alpha. She’s going to get backup," Beam said, trying to be the voice of reason.
"Come on, Beam. You and I both know she’s not coming back with any backup," Malo said, looking her in the eye. "Princess lost her last strikes. Alpha Adam isn’t going to help her. He probably thinks she deserves to learn a lesson. And Alpha Leo is out of town for a business meeting. Everyone knows he won’t pick up his personal calls until his work is over. He’s unreachable. We’re the ones who are going to save Faye. Haley and Sasha are already outside getting a van ready."
Beam stayed silent for a long moment. She knew he was right about Alpha Adam. The old man was strict and wouldn’t move a finger for a failed grandchild.
Suddenly, her phone rang. She answered it, and as she listened, her face began to frown.
"I have to go to the juvenile center. Right now. My brother has lost it, and for some reason, he’s asking for Faye Grande," she said quickly. She didn’t explain further before rushing out the door.
"Should we tell Paye that his sister is missing?" Pali asked. He was busy bottling the potions Malo had requested.
"No. Absolutely not. If he finds out, he’ll lose his mind. And once he gets to her, he’ll take her so far away from this city that we’ll never see her again. I don’t want to lose my best friend twice," MG said, his voice firm.
"You all need to be careful," PP warned from the back of the shop. "Remember you are your siblings hope. And make sure Kali doesn’t fall into the wrong hands. You’re dealing with a were-witch now. They are the most dangerous of all weres and they are not to be toyed with..."
