Chapter 155: Watching Princess Shift..

We set up a campfire somewhere deep in the woods, far away from the city lights and the noise of the club. I was busy roasting the turkey over the open flames, making sure the skin got that perfect golden brown crunch, while Princess just sat there on a log. She wasn’t helping at all. All she did was watch me, her chin resting on her hand, and she just kept smiling.

I caught her staring again, her eyes reflecting the flickering orange light of the fire.

"Why are you smiling like that?" I asked. I tried to keep my voice steady and hide my own smile, but it was hard.

"I’m just picturing the fact that I have a beautiful girlfriend like you," she said. Her voice was soft, and she didn’t look away for even a second. She was still smiling that wide, genuine smile that always seemed to catch me off guard.

Oh, that smile of hers is intoxicating. Day by day, I feel my knees weaken whenever she looks at me like that. It’s like she has this power over me that I can’t quite explain.

"Are you sure, or are you just teasing me?" I muttered, poking at the fire with a stick to keep my hands busy.

"I’m not teasing. I’m telling the truth. You’re beautiful, Cotton. Even when you’re angry, you just become more beautiful," she said.

That made my cheeks turn red instantly. I felt the heat rising to my face, and it wasn’t just from the campfire. I quickly turned away from her, pretending to be very focused on the roasted turkey. My heart was thumping against my ribs.

"You are also beautiful," I muttered under my breath. I thought she wouldn’t hear me over the crackling of the wood, but her hearing was way too sharp.

"I know I’m beautiful. That’s why everyone falls for me at first glance," she said, her tone shifting back to that classic Princess pride.

I stopped what I was doing and just stared at her. I really wanted to kill her ego right then and there. I definitely didn’t fall for her at first sight. In fact, I remembered hating her guts for throwing that expensive Chanel bag at my face and boasting about how much money she had. She was the most annoying person I had ever met back then.

"What is with that glare again?" Princess asked, her smile faltering just a little bit. She looked slightly worried, probably wondering what she had said wrong this time.

I realized I was staring too hard, so I instantly changed my expression to something cute and innocent. I gave her a little pout.

"Nothing, I was just looking at my gorgeous girlfriend," I said, trying to smooth things over.

She seemed to buy it. She shifted her weight on the log and looked at the meat cooking over the flames. "So how are you an expert in that?" she asked, tilting her head.

"In what?"

"The way you season the turkey and the whole roasting process. You’re like an expert at this," she said, pointing at the bird.

I let out a short snort. "Anyone can do it," I said. Then I looked at her, seeing the way she was looking at the fire like it was a complex piece of machinery. I realized she probably couldn’t cook a piece of toast without someone helping her.

"My mentor taught me," I explained, feeling a bit of nostalgia hit me. "We do this every full moon back in Redwood. It’s a tradition. We roast different kinds of meat, drink cans of beer, and celebrate together before the moon actually comes out."

"That’s cool. I’d like to meet that mentor of yours someday," she said. She leaned forward, resting her head on her knees, looking genuinely interested in my past.

"His name is Guru. He wasn’t just a mentor to me. He was my friend. He taught me a lot of things about survival and about being a wolf," I said, reminiscing about my old life back in Redwood.

"Is he dead?" Princess asked suddenly.

"What? No! Guru is alive and well. That dude is like a cockroach. He hardly gets killed, no matter what happens. He even calls himself a survivor roach," I laughed. The idea of Guru being dead was almost funny. He was too stubborn to die.

"Why did you leave Redwood anyway, since you were having such a better time there?" she asked.

I sighed, the memories of our exit from that place feeling a bit heavy. "My brother and his habit of running away from his problems. Something happened between them, between him and Guru, so we had to move," I explained.

It took her a second to process that. I watched her face as she thought about it. Suddenly, her brows lifted and her eyes went wide, like she had just figured out a massive puzzle.

"Oh. Your Guru mentor and your brother were a thing," she said, making a suggestive gesture with her fingers.

"Yeah. They were," I said, nodding. It was a complicated mess, but that was my family for you.

When the turkey was finally ready, we set everything out together on a blanket. I showed her how to check the joints to see if it was properly cooked all the way through. We garnished the meat with some fruits and veggies I had brought along and set down some cans of soda I had picked up from the convenience store on the way here.

She didn’t get any beer for herself. She said she wanted to drink exactly what I was drinking. She promised she wouldn’t touch a drop of alcohol until I finally gave birth and was ready to have a drink again.

I really liked that. My girlfriend can be incredibly sweet when she wants to be.

We sat close together and fed each other, sharing little intimate moments in the quiet of the woods while we waited for the moon to climb higher into the sky. The forest was peaceful, the only sounds being the occasional owl and the wind in the trees.

Not gonna lie, I was the one who ended up eating most of the turkey. My pregnancy cravings were in full swing, and I couldn’t stop myself. My appetite didn’t really let Princess eat much. She only had a small portion and spent the rest of the time just watching me devour the rest of the bird.

Well, I have four living things growing inside me, so even a whole turkey wasn’t quite enough to satisfy the hunger. Princess laughed and said she’d take me to a proper restaurant as soon as the full moon was over.

Finally, the full moon arrived. This was the fun part, the part we had been waiting for all night.

It still made me a little sad that I haven’t been able to shift for three moons now because of the pregnancy. I missed the feeling of the run and the power in my paws. But Princess had promised to make it up to me. I don’t know exactly how she plans to do that, but I’ll wait to see what she does on the first moon after the pups are born.

Princess stood up and began to remove her clothes. She didn’t hesitate. Soon, she stood completely naked right in front of me, her skin glowing pale in the moonlight. I wanted to reach out and touch her, but all I could do at first was stare. She looked powerful and beautiful all at once.

"It’s a show to watch, okay? Try to keep your eyes in your head," she said. She had noticed that I was practically drooling just by looking at her.

"I can’t help it. Your body is magnificent, Princess. I want to touch," I said. I couldn’t resist. I raised my hand toward her, reaching for her soft boobs.

She tried to step away with a little smirk, teasing me, but I wasn’t having it. I stood up quickly and got exactly what I wanted anyway.

"Hahaha, I always get what I want," I cheered. "Soft boobs. Hahaha," I said, squeezing them lightly. They felt warm and perfect.

She just rolled her eyes, waiting patiently for me to be done with my distraction.

Then, the silence of the woods was broken by a sharp, loud crack.
