Chapter 83: Chapter 83: Jolie Yates, You’ve Already Started Going Downhill

Having completed his task, Ian Winters breathed a silent sigh of relief.

A few days ago, Chairman Shaw had suddenly ordered his team to add some... intriguing programs to the company’s smart robot.

For instance, it could act cute, whine playfully, and even seem sad...

These requests baffled the R&D department. Even he, as the chairman’s assistant, couldn’t make heads or tails of them.

Then, a few days later, Jasper Shaw suddenly told him to contact the production team for *Genius* and offer to lend them the robot.

He was also instructed to gift the robot to Miss Sinclair, another contestant on the show, after White’s segment was over.

At first, Ian Winters had to bite his tongue.

’Chairman Shaw really has been single for twenty-eight years for a reason,’ he thought. ’He doesn’t even know the first thing about pursuing a girl.’

’Shouldn’t you start by sending a truckload of flowers, then maybe take her out for hot pot?’

’What’s the deal with gifting a robot?’

’Is it because he knows Miss Sinclair has her college entrance exams soon, so he’s sending a robot to help her study?’

Harboring these thoughts, he arrived at the studio feeling rather anxious.

When he saw Chloe Sinclair take a liking to White, Ian Winters felt a wave of relief.

And when Chloe Sinclair accepted the gift with satisfaction, Ian’s worries completely vanished.

He had been worried that if she refused the gift, his boss would get angry and dock his pay.

’Who knew the boss had such great foresight?’

And so, without a moment’s hesitation, he left White with the production team and sped back to report to his boss.

「Backstage」

After dinner, everyone took a short break.

Chloe Sinclair was also planning to enter her system to study.

But just then, to her surprise, Jolie Yates walked in.

"Chloe Sinclair, who was that executive from earlier?"

Chloe was annoyed at the interruption, but she saw no reason to lie. "The assistant of a friend," she said plainly.

Jolie Yates’s expression changed in an instant, a flash of disdain in her eyes.

She glanced at Chloe, rolled her eyes, and said in a snide, backhanded tone, "Oh, so just an assistant. What a shame."

Chloe stood up, her gaze suddenly turning sharp as she advanced on Jolie. "Is there a problem with being an assistant?"

Jolie’s tone was dripping with contempt. "What do you think? Of course it’s a shame. He’s so handsome, but it turns out he’s just fated to work for someone else."

Chloe’s brow furrowed. "Jolie Yates," she said suddenly, "I’m afraid it’ll be difficult for you to achieve much more in this lifetime."

"Are you cursing me?" Jolie bristled.

She had been a top student her entire life. She was ranked first in her entire school through elementary and middle school, and she had even won a national gold medal in Physics in high school.

She got into Emberfall University with the third-highest score in the city and the tenth-highest in the province on her college entrance exams.

She’d been featured in two major national newspapers within a single year. Now, at only twenty-two, she had already earned a considerable amount of money.

As a result, she held her head high wherever she went.

She had already surpassed ninety-nine percent of the population.

Chloe watched Jolie’s indignant display, remaining silent for a long moment before finally sighing.

"I’ve read your papers."

She paused, then continued, "To be honest, you’re very talented in condensed matter Physics. But you haven’t produced any results in the last year. Instead, you’ve burned through a lot of research funding. If I’m not mistaken, Emberfall University won’t be funding you any longer."

"You’re already on a downward slide, Jolie."

In her past life, she had also researched condensed matter Physics, but she had only ever seen Jolie’s papers in a few domestic journals.

And she had never once heard the name Jolie Yates mentioned within their professional circle.

That was why she could be so certain.
