Chapter 54: Chapter 54: It’s Over, It’s Over, You’re Finished

A thousand thoughts raced through Mr. Rhodes’s mind, his face pale. He instinctively bowed and scraped before the two officers. "Is there something I can help you with, officers?"

"Hello, is Yuna Rhodes at home?"

The officer showed his identification, then his sharp gaze swept across the room. He quickly spotted Yuna Rhodes, pale and hiding in a corner.

Yuna Rhodes looked up, her eyes meeting the officer’s for a moment before she immediately dropped her head in fright.

Zack was a recent graduate from the police academy. He had excelled in his studies and was assigned to the Kennet Police Department upon graduation.

This was also the first case he had handled since joining the force.

He had only glanced over for a moment, but he could tell something was off about the young girl. He frowned, and it instantly clicked who she must be.

Seeing that the police weren’t there for him, Mr. Rhodes, who stood to the side, let out a sigh of relief.

He said obsequiously, "She just got back."

Then, he turned and snapped harshly, "What are you still standing over there for? Get over here."

Yuna Rhodes shook her head, refusing to move.

She was in a complete panic; she never imagined the police would show up at her door.

’Does Chloe Sinclair really want me dead?’

"Yuna Rhodes, were you the one who made the post on the Kennet First High School forum?"

Zack got straight to the point.

His tone was stern, but inwardly he was quite shocked.

He had been stunned when he learned that the post was likely made by a high school senior.

His department had also investigated the matter. The victim had neither cheated nor plagiarized on the exam, and all the content in the post was pure fabrication.

But looking at the timid, submissive girl in front of him, he couldn’t fathom how someone like her could post such malicious lies.

Seeing that Yuna Rhodes wasn’t speaking, Zack didn’t press her. He just said, "Let’s head back to the station for now."

"No! I didn’t post it! Why are you arresting me?"

Yuna Rhodes suddenly shot to her feet, a crazed look flashing in her eyes. "Chloe Sinclair brought this on herself! She got what she deserved!"

Zack stared, aghast, at the girl who had suddenly become so frenzied. He was speechless for a long moment.

It was only then that Mr. Rhodes realized something was seriously wrong. He couldn’t help but ask, "Officer, what’s going on?"

’Why does my daughter have to go to the police station?’

After speaking, he stared intently at Yuna Rhodes.

Yuna Rhodes, her face ghastly pale, quickly lowered her head, not daring to look at her father.

"Could there be some kind of misunderstanding?" Mr. Rhodes said with a forced smile. "What post? What rumors? Our Yuna is a good girl. There must be a mistake."

Zack exchanged a look with his partner, who then spoke up. "In the early morning of May 3rd, Miss Rhodes spread a rumor on the school forum. Before the post was deleted, it had been reposted over five thousand times and received significant public attention. The victim’s family reported it to the police that same day. We traced the slanderer’s IP address to this location, and we are here to conduct an investigation in accordance with the law."

After speaking, the partner looked at Yuna Rhodes. "Miss Rhodes, if there has been some misunderstanding, let’s go down to the station and clear it up."

"No!"

Before Mr. Rhodes could even speak, Yuna Rhodes was shaking her head frantically. "Chloe Sinclair must have paid you! She must have sent you to arrest me! I didn’t write that post."

"It wasn’t me, it really wasn’t!"

Yuna Rhodes hid behind her father, then suddenly looked up, her eyes filled with desperation. "Dad, you have to tell them. I really didn’t do anything like that."
