Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Daughter-Doting Maniac
The next day, Chloe Sinclair spent the entire day in her bedroom without leaving.
That evening, Ethan Sinclair knocked on her door and told her to come out and try on her gown for the next day.
Chloe Sinclair exited the system, rubbing her shoulders and neck. She called out in response and went downstairs in her slippers.
A black rack stood in the living room, holding several outfits.
The moment Chloe Sinclair came down, Mr. Sinclair said with a beaming smile, "Chloe, take a look. Do you like this gown?"
Chloe Sinclair’s gaze fell upon the black rack, where there was only a single, pure-white evening gown.
The gown was identical to the one from her past life. Chloe Sinclair walked over and stroked the tulle of the skirt. "It’s beautiful."
She knew Mr. Sinclair had spent a fortune to have it custom-made.
Sure enough, upon hearing her approval, Mr. Sinclair laughed heartily. "Then go try it on and see if it fits."
Chloe Sinclair didn’t refuse. With the designer’s help, she carried the gown back to her room.
When she came back downstairs in the gown, Nina Sinclair had already changed and was demurely asking for an opinion from her father and brother. "Dad, Ethan, do you think my dress is pretty?"
Nina Sinclair’s dress was a light blue, knee-length piece with a sheer overlay on the shoulders and sleeves.
With just a gentle twirl, the hem of her skirt flared out—a delightful sight for any observer.
As such, Mr. Sinclair praised her without hesitation, "Not bad at all. That’s a very pretty gown."
As he spoke, his eyes suddenly caught sight of Chloe Sinclair on the staircase. He watched her slowly descend, his gaze unconsciously captivated by her.
She wore a pure white, off-the-shoulder gown. The skirt flared slightly at the hem, and the tulle was dotted with fine diamonds that glittered dazzlingly under the bright lights.
All eyes in the room turned to Chloe Sinclair.
"Is it beautiful?"
After descending the stairs, Chloe Sinclair did a little run over to them. Holding the hem of her skirt, she gave everyone a confident twirl.
"Beautiful."
After a long moment, Mr. Sinclair finally snapped out of his daze, his voice thick with emotion. "Chloe, you look so much like your mother. Both of you, just as beautiful."
In that moment, he saw the image of his late wife in his daughter.
"If your mother were still with us and saw what a beautiful daughter she has... I can only imagine how happy she would be."
Mr. Sinclair’s heart was filled with a mix of joy and sorrow.
Seeing him like this, Chloe Sinclair comforted him. "Dad, I’m sure Mom is watching over us from heaven. Tomorrow is your birthday, so please be happy, okay?"
"Okay."
Mr. Sinclair nodded, his heart filled with relief and comfort.
His daughter had finally matured.
’She even knows how to comfort her old man when he’s sad.’
’All that affection wasn’t for nothing!’
Standing to the side, Nina Sinclair bit her lip, glaring venomously at the father and daughter.
Ever since Chloe Sinclair had come home, she found she could no longer fit into their conversations.
But she didn’t dare let any of it show on her face. After all, she couldn’t afford to burn her bridges with the Sinclair family yet. On the surface, she still had to be the good older sister who doted on her younger sibling.
At this thought, another wave of resentment washed over Nina Sinclair.
So, she spoke up to change the subject. "Chloe was telling me in private yesterday that she has a surprise for you tomorrow."
As she spoke, her gaze, now soft and gentle, turned to Chloe Sinclair. She asked with a smile, "Isn’t that right?"
"That’s right," Chloe Sinclair played along. "I’ll be sure to give you a huge surprise."
Mr. Sinclair nodded, though he wasn’t expecting much.
After all, having lived for most of his life, there was little he hadn’t seen.
But then he remembered this would be the first gift his daughter had ever given him. He decided that even if she just gave him a simple watch, he would accept it with a beaming smile.
