Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Exam

Mr. Sinclair was drinking soy milk and nearly spat it out when he heard Chloe Sinclair’s bold declaration.

Chloe quickly handed him a napkin.

Mr. Sinclair wiped his mouth and said, "Chloe, well..."

"Dad, I’ll study hard."

She had now mastered nearly all three years’ worth of high school material, so getting into Emberfall University didn’t seem difficult at all.

Mr. Sinclair looked like he wanted to say something but held his tongue. Although a father should support and encourage his daughter’s studies, for some reason, hearing those words come from her mouth felt utterly incredible.

Nina Sinclair sneered from the side. She knew Chloe Sinclair’s grades; trying to raise her score by five or six hundred points in the remaining two months was practically impossible.

"Dad, the exam is about to start. Chloe and I will get going."

After speaking, Nina Sinclair looked at Chloe Sinclair. "Chloe, it’s been a long time since we went to school together. Let’s go together today, shall we?"

"No."

Chloe Sinclair refused without a second thought.

Nina Sinclair’s face paled, and a flicker of hurt crossed her eyes. She asked, bewildered, "Why?"

Chloe Sinclair said nothing.

Their older brother, Sinclair, quickly cut in. "How about this, Nina? You have the driver take you. I’ll take Chloe to school today."

Over the past half-month, they had all seen that Chloe was intentionally avoiding Nina Sinclair, but the adults in the family hadn’t intervened.

Because of this, when Nina Sinclair heard what Sinclair said, she nearly choked with indignation. In the end, she could only agree, her voice full of grievance.

Once at school, Nina Sinclair arrived at her classroom just as the bell was about to ring.

The students on duty had already set up the exam rooms the day before. Because her grades were poor, she had been assigned to Class 15.

At 8:40 AM, the exam began on time.

Since the college entrance exams were just around the corner, this test was administered with extreme rigor, proctored exactly according to official exam regulations.

As a result, the students felt a little intimidated as they approached the classroom.

Several students from Class 7 were also in Class 15. They greeted familiar faces before taking their assigned seats.

As soon as the test papers were handed out, the classroom filled with sighs and groans.

"Holy shit!"

The moment the students from Class 7 saw the test, their eyes widened in shock.

While none of the questions were identical to ones they’d practiced, they had all done similar problems before.

And so, all the students from Class 7 bowed their heads and began writing furiously.

Chloe Sinclair, however, didn’t start writing immediately after getting her test. Instead, she first scanned all the questions, then began with the very last one.

「Twenty minutes later.」

Chloe Sinclair put down her pen. She spent ten minutes mentally reviewing her answers before having Eight run an evaluation.

When the result was close to the score she had anticipated, Chloe Sinclair flipped her test paper over and rested her head on the desk to sleep.

The proctor’s brow furrowed.

She had been keeping an eye on Chloe Sinclair, who was sitting in the very back row, from the start of the exam.

Since the seating was arranged according to student rankings, she knew Chloe Sinclair was dead last in the entire school.

The girl was pretty, so the proctor’s gaze naturally drifted toward Chloe Sinclair throughout the exam.

At first, she thought Chloe Sinclair’s attitude was decent. Despite her poor grades, she seemed to be writing diligently during the test.

But her feeling of relief didn’t last long. Soon after, she saw the girl put down her pen, lay her head down, and promptly fall asleep.

The proctor, looking displeased, spoke up. "If you’ve finished your test, you should be checking your work. Do you actually think you’re going to get a perfect score?"

After speaking, she fixed her gaze on Chloe Sinclair.

However, the girl didn’t react at all. She simply turned her head to the other side and continued to sleep.
