Chapter 215: Chapter 215: I’ll Tell You Why
Nina Sinclair stood at the entrance, her face deathly pale.
She glanced down at her outfit but didn’t think it was that outrageous.
So she retorted, "Professor, what century are we in? This outfit would be considered perfectly fine online. Besides, I rushed straight here after my event. How is it that in your eyes, I’m suddenly dressed inappropriately?"
Professor Myers’s face flushed red. He opened his mouth to speak, his expression clearly showing a trace of anger.
Seeing Professor Myers at a loss for words, Nina Sinclair held her head high and walked to a seat in the last row.
At school, Nina Sinclair often left campus and skipped classes, so she had no friends there.
She barely interacted with her roommates, either. She glanced around and, seeing no other empty seats, prepared to sit in the last row.
"Are there no seats in the front?"
Professor Myers frowned. "I’ve barely seen you in class. If you don’t start studying, you’ll have a hard time graduating."
Nina Sinclair’s expression turned ugly.
She hadn’t wanted to come back this time.
But she had missed the last monthly exam, and this time her academic advisor had specifically called her agent to warn him that if she missed the midterm or skipped any more classes, she would fail every single one of her courses for the semester.
She normally wouldn’t have cared about that.
It was her agent who had forced her to come.
She just hadn’t expected to be humiliated by this old geezer before class even started.
With hundreds of pairs of eyes fixed on her, Nina Sinclair had no choice but to sit in the front row, even though she didn’t want to.
Seeing this, Professor Myers didn’t make things any more difficult for her.
But by the time class ended, Nina Sinclair was still holding a grudge.
So she posted on Weibo to vent.
Nina Sinclair wasn’t a complete fool, though. Her post was ambiguous, and many people thought it was just a simple rant.
But many observant fans still raised their own questions.
[Nina, what were you wearing that made the professor say that to you?]
[Am I the only one who noticed the details? Why does it feel like our Nina is always being targeted at school?]
On a normal day, Nina Sinclair would post about her daily life on Weibo at her fans’ request. Over time, they discovered that their idol didn’t have a single friend at school.
But Nina Sinclair was very open about it, stating bluntly that she was too busy to interact much with her classmates.
But after seeing Nina Sinclair’s post today, many people, guided by the top comments, started spinning conspiracy theories.
[Nina, is some professor targeting you on purpose? I think the clothes you usually wear, while not mainstream, are still pretty normal. Even a regular person would find them acceptable, so why would a professor have a problem with it?]
[Yeah, did Nina piss someone off, so the professor is deliberately giving you a hard time?]
[To the person above, you just reminded me of something.]
[My friend is in the Physics department. I heard Nina and that little bitch Chloe Sinclair are in the same class, and more than half the class are Chloe’s fans. My friend says all the professors at the School of Physics love Chloe Sinclair. Connecting that to their past grudges, could it be that Chloe is ganging up with the students and teachers to torment our Nina?]
[Now that you mention it, this totally feels like a conspiracy.]
[Seriously. If it were anyone else, I’d say we should look into it more, but Chloe Sinclair is a known psycho. After what the top comment said, I’d say it’s more than likely true.]
[Secretaries, I want the personal information of these professors. Today, I’ll be one of the snowflakes!]
[Me too!]
[Ditto!]
The online discussion was heating up, but Nina Sinclair didn’t have a massive number of fans, nor were they particularly active, so it was only talked about in a small circle.
But news travels incredibly fast online, and many students in the class saw Nina Sinclair’s Weibo post after class ended.
A few of the guys were blunt and asked directly, "Nina Sinclair, what’s the meaning of your Weibo post?"
Nina Sinclair hadn’t had a chance to leave yet. When the male student shouted at her, her eyes instantly turned red.
If her die-hard male fans online had seen this, they would have been heartbroken.
But she was facing a group of guys who only knew how to deal with cold, hard instruments.
When those students saw Nina Sinclair actually start to cry, their expressions darkened.
"I didn’t curse at you or hit you. What are you crying for?"
Hearing this, Nina Sinclair ground her teeth in anger, keeping her head down so no one could see the venomous look on her face.
But the male students weren’t about to let her off the hook. Several of them walked quickly to the front row and SLAMMED a phone down on the desk.
The screen displayed Nina Sinclair’s Weibo post.
Chloe Sinclair glanced over. When she saw the content of the post, her expression was just as dark as the boys’.
She stood up and looked Nina Sinclair straight in the eye. "Are you crazy?"
’She’s completely lost her mind!’
"Exactly, are you crazy? Was the professor wrong? This is a Physics class, and you show up in a formal gown. Is that appropriate? If you don’t want to attend class, you can request leave from the advisor. Professor Myers notifies everyone in the group chat before the first lecture, and before every lecture, not to wear clothes like that. How did this suddenly become his fault?"
Miles Myers was strict in class, but his way of explaining concepts was truly different from other teachers.
The students were afraid of him, but they also respected him.
So now that their professor was being attacked online by a classmate, they were naturally furious.
Chloe Sinclair looked at Nina Sinclair’s unapologetic expression and said coldly, "Nina Sinclair, you know the consequences of past mistakes. I hope you’ve considered whether you can bear the responsibility for your actions before you do something."
It was clearly the end of September, and the air had been somewhat stuffy and hot.
But as Chloe Sinclair spoke, a chill seemed to emanate from her, spreading through the air.
A wave of panic hit Nina Sinclair, but she still refused to back down.
"On what grounds? Why is it that when you’re late, Professor Myers doesn’t scold you, but when I’m late, he humiliates me in front of the whole class? Why can you skip school for half a month straight, but I get chewed out by the advisor for taking seven days off?"
Nina Sinclair spoke faster and faster, her voice filled with growing grievance.
She saw that the people who had been yelling at her were now silent and assumed her words had left them speechless. So she pushed even further.
"Besides, I didn’t name any names online. What’s wrong with me venting on Weibo? Are my fans going to cyberbully the professor or something?"
Seeing the smug look in Nina Sinclair’s eyes, the anger in Chloe Sinclair’s heart flared even higher.
Not only that, but her words also succeeded in enraging the rest of the students in the class.
"Then I’ll tell you on what grounds!"
The shy fan who had been so timid in front of Chloe Sinclair earlier stood up. The shyness on her face was gone, replaced by pure anger.
"It’s because Chloe Sinclair stays in the lab doing experiments until dawn! It’s because she gets first place on every exam! It’s because she’s approachable and patiently answers anyone’s questions! It’s because she’s the idol of our class!"
"And you? School started two months ago. How many days have you even shown up to class?"
"Even if you’re not as brilliant as Chloe, could you at least have a better attitude toward your studies?"
