Chapter 181: Chapter 181: Calling the Police
Evelyn Thompson froze. Before she could say a word, she saw Chloe Sinclair pick up her phone and make a call. "Hello, Counselor..."
Evelyn Thompson stood frozen in place. She never imagined Chloe Sinclair would actually call the counselor.
After answering the call, the counselor rushed over to the dorm.
She saw that Chloe Sinclair’s bed was not just filthy, but—more horrifically—her closet had clearly been ransacked, and there were even several live bugs inside.
The counselor’s skin crawled, but an even stronger feeling was her sense of shock.
First of all, she believed Chloe Sinclair wasn’t the type to start trouble. Moreover, Chloe was never present for dorm inspections, so there was no way this could be about some deep-seated, irreconcilable grudge.
With that thought, her expression turned cold. "Chloe, do you want to call the police?"
Evelyn Thompson was dumbfounded when she heard that.
She couldn’t help but blurt out, "Counselor, we were just playing a prank, weren’t we? Can’t we just apologize to her and be done with it?"
Evelyn Thompson didn’t think it was that serious.
To her, it was perhaps just a small lesson for Chloe Sinclair.
After all, this wasn’t the first time.
Back in high school, the teachers would just turn a blind eye and let things slide.
Seeing Evelyn Thompson’s casual demeanor, the counselor became furious.
"A prank?" The counselor let out a dry laugh. "So your idea of a ’prank’ is to pour filthy water on your roommate’s bed, stomp footprints all over it, cut up her clothes, and then put bugs in her closet?"
Evelyn Thompson was left speechless, her face pale. She looked to Sylvia Holloway and Zoe Yates for help.
Zoe Yates, however, was cursing up a storm in her head.
’So what if she got into Emberfall University? It doesn’t mean she has any social skills, does it?’
’Daring to say something like that to a counselor... What’s the difference between her and a brainless fly?’
Since Zoe Yates said nothing, Evelyn Thompson instantly became the center of attention.
The counselor’s gaze was fixed on her, unwavering.
Seeing that the girl was merely confused, without a hint of remorse, the counselor felt an indescribable mix of disappointment and anger.
"Evelyn Thompson, is it?" The counselor had to think for a moment to recall the student’s name.
She murmured the name, then said, "I’m going to have your own counselor come over right now. This matter must be investigated thoroughly."
With that, she turned to look at Chloe Sinclair.
She was the one directly involved, after all; her opinion had to be respected, no matter what.
Chloe Sinclair’s eyes were dark, and she answered without a moment’s hesitation, "I will be pressing charges against all three of them."
Then, looking at the stunned girls, a small smile touched her lips. "If you have the nerve to do it, you should be prepared to face the consequences, shouldn’t you?"
"Chloe Sinclair, don’t you go too far."
Chloe Sinclair tilted her head, a confused look in her eyes. "Am I the one going too far?"
There are some people who, even when they do nothing, will always be inexplicably targeted.
She had suffered the bitterness of being bullied in her past life, and she would absolutely not let herself be wronged a second time.
Now, Evelyn Thompson was starting to panic.
Perhaps because she was truly starting to grasp the severity of the situation, Evelyn Thompson’s tears started to fall, and she looked utterly pitiful.
But even so, not a single word of apology left her lips.
The counselor was also furious and couldn’t help but snap, "What are you crying for?"
Evelyn Thompson’s crying stopped instantly.
But no matter what anyone said, Chloe Sinclair wouldn’t change her mind.
Half an hour later, the police arrived.
Chloe Sinclair wasn’t concerned about the aftermath.
After all, no matter what happened, there would be a black mark on their permanent records—a stain that would follow them to the grave.
