Chapter 170: Chapter 170: Taking Care of Your Body Is the Most Important Thing
Chloe Sinclair’s combat skills were comparable to some of the military’s special forces.
While she was lacking in footwork and strength, her reaction time was remarkably fast, and she could adapt on the fly in a fight.
’With just a little more training,’ she believed, ’Chloe Sinclair could absolutely become the top female soldier of the new generation.’
Chloe Sinclair didn’t know what was going through Susan Warren’s mind, so she simply smiled.
"It’s all in service to the country. Being a soldier and conducting research are both ways of building up our nation."
One charges into battle, while the other builds a thick shield to protect the nation.
Susan Warren paused, understanding in an instant. Her eyes filled with amusement. She didn’t press the matter, only saying, "That kick from the thug today looked pretty vicious. If you feel any discomfort, you have to go to the hospital. Don’t just tough it out."
Chloe Sinclair quickly nodded.
In truth, she had deflected ninety percent of the force from that kick. The only reason she’d rolled so far was to get closer to the alarm, skillfully using the momentum to propel herself away.
Not wanting to worry her, Chloe explained, "I’m alright, ma’am. I just used the momentum. There’s really nothing wrong with me."
Seeing that Chloe Sinclair didn’t look like she was lying, Susan Warren finally relaxed.
She teased, "When I saw you lying on the ground, unable to get up, I really thought something terrible had happened. With acting skills like that, it’s a shame you’re not in movies."
Chloe Sinclair scratched her head, a bit embarrassed.
She glanced at the time, her eyes widening in panic.
"Ma’am, I’m going to be late for class! I have to go now. Please be careful on your way."
With that, she took off, sprinting back to the university as if it were a hundred-meter dash.
But just as she reached the classroom, she realized she had forgotten her textbook.
Smacking her forehead in frustration, Chloe Sinclair crept to the back of the classroom.
The orange-yellow lights in the hallway were dim, but the classroom inside was brightly lit.
Chloe Sinclair stood at the doorway, her ink-black eyes darting about furtively.
"CREAK—"
Chloe was leaning against the door to peek inside when it suddenly gave way.
The creaking sound drew every student’s gaze to Chloe Sinclair.
Being the focus of so many eyes, each filled with a different emotion, made Chloe Sinclair feel uneasy.
She looked down at herself. Her white T-shirt was dusty, and a few drops of the thug’s blood stained her shoulder.
After freezing for a few seconds, Chloe Sinclair hurried to explain, "Professor Myers, I’m so sorry. I was held up on my way here. I promise it won’t happen again."
Chloe Sinclair knew that the one thing Miles Myers hated most was tardiness, so she apologized immediately.
She expected him to be angry, especially since she was a full half-hour late.
However, Miles Myers merely glanced at her, his tone surprisingly level. "Take a seat for now. Come to my office after class."
Chloe Sinclair didn’t understand what he meant, but she nodded anyway and took a seat in the front row.
Chloe didn’t have her book, but she had skimmed the textbook when it was first distributed, so the material he was covering was still within her grasp.
She hadn’t been in her seat for long before class was over.
As soon as class was dismissed, Chloe Sinclair followed Miles Myers to his office.
"Professor, you wanted to see me?"
The moment Chloe Sinclair stepped into the office, she felt the atmosphere shift.
Because the moment she walked in, the eyes of every professor from the School of Physics landed on her.
Miles Myers said nothing. He simply glanced at Chloe Sinclair, then pulled a leave of absence form from his drawer.
