Chapter 114: Chapter 114: I’m Afraid You’ll Make Me Late
Chloe Sinclair smiled. "Mr. Stern really is a good teacher."
Summer Beckett scratched his head. He looked at Chloe Sinclair’s expression, hesitating as if he wanted to say something.
Chloe Sinclair had been watching him the whole time, so she knew Summer Beckett had something to say.
"Don’t worry, I’ll be back at school tomorrow."
Sure enough, Summer Beckett’s face lit up, and he quickly nodded. "Then I’ll come pick you up tomorrow."
Chloe Sinclair shook her head. "Don’t bother. I’m afraid you’ll just make me late."
Summer Beckett refused to take no for an answer, insisting to Chloe Sinclair that he would definitely come pick her up the next day.
Chloe Sinclair had no choice but to agree.
The next day, when he saw Chloe Sinclair dressed in a sweatsuit and showing no signs of wanting to get in the car, he suddenly felt a pang of worry.
Of course, he was worried for himself.
Because by the looks of it, Chloe Sinclair was planning to run to school.
Summer Beckett glanced down at his floral shirt and suddenly realized what Chloe Sinclair had meant when she’d told him to wear something a little looser.
He looked at Chloe Sinclair with a pained expression.
Chloe Sinclair, however, was holding a small steamed bun, which she promptly popped into her mouth and swallowed in one go.
After she finished eating, she looked at Summer Beckett. "Let’s run."
She glanced at the time and added, "We have an hour and a half."
’If it were just me, I could probably get to school in forty minutes.’
’But with Summer Beckett in the mix, it might be a different story.’
Summer Beckett gulped, a flicker of despair in his eyes.
But he still dutifully started running after Chloe Sinclair.
At eight o’clock, the student council was already out catching latecomers.
Chloe Sinclair couldn’t believe it. ’My very first day back, and I’m already going to get points deducted.’
So, she fixed her large, dark eyes on Summer Beckett, who was still panting heavily.
At that moment, Summer Beckett was completely oblivious to Chloe Sinclair’s reproachful glare.
He was leaning against a wall with his hands braced on his thighs, looking absolutely awful.
After a long moment, he looked up at Chloe Sinclair, who wasn’t even sweating. He stared at her as if she were a demon, a desolate look in his eyes and his lips trembling.
’I regret everything!’
God knows what he had been through in the last two hours!
Two hours! Over ten kilometers!
He had run the entire way on his own two feet.
Just as he was about to speak, he saw Chloe Sinclair stop and take two steps back.
Then, her gaze shifted to the wall behind him, which was several meters high.
Summer Beckett’s lip twitched. He pointed behind him, his eyes wide with disbelief. "You’re not actually planning to climb over, are you?"
Chloe Sinclair said nothing, but simply nodded with a serious expression.
Summer Beckett: "..."
He subconsciously glanced at the high wall.
Summer Beckett stammered, "It’s so high, how are you..."
Before he could finish, Chloe Sinclair took a few steps back, got a running start, and then... despite the wall being several meters high, she scaled it with an ease that made it seem like flat ground.
Summer Beckett, however, had forgotten that Chloe Sinclair was the kind of woman who could do a loop run.
"Chloe, what about me?"
Chloe Sinclair looked down at the pale-faced Summer Beckett. "You can use the main gate."
With that, she jumped down without another word.
Summer Beckett stood stunned for a moment. With a single leap, Chloe Sinclair was gone from sight.
"Hey, you over there! What do you think you’re doing!"
Just then, a member of the student council spotted Summer Beckett. The council member glanced at the time, then expressionlessly held out a notebook. "Student, please write down your name and class."
Summer Beckett looked like he wanted to cry but had no tears left. He pointed at himself, then glanced at the spot where Chloe Sinclair had vanished.
