Chapter 84: The Goddess...

The light was unbearable.

Nox narrowed his eyes.

Everything around him had disappeared.

The altar was gone.

The Grand Church was gone.

Gabriel and his companions were gone.

There was only an endless white space.

Silent.

Empty.

It felt exactly like the day he died.

"..."

His breathing grew heavier.

He remembered that feeling...

Far too well.

Then...

A woman’s voice broke the silence.

"At last, you’ve arrived."

Nox immediately turned his head.

He searched for the gigantic woman he had seen the first time.

The enormous figure who had called herself a Goddess.

But...

There was no one that large.

Only a woman slowly floating toward him.

She was only a few centimeters shorter than Nox.

Her long golden hair drifted as though suspended underwater.

She wore a delicate white dress, almost transparent, seemingly woven from the very light filling the space.

Her face still possessed that impossible beauty.

But now...

She looked much more... human.

Nox frowned.

"You..."

The woman smiled with quiet amusement.

"I already know what you’re going to say."

She continued approaching.

"That you’ve spent your entire time cursing me..."

She raised an eyebrow slightly.

"...instead of enjoying your new life and your second chance."

Annoyance immediately spread through Nox’s body.

"Second chance?"

His voice hardened.

"What kind of second chance is this?"

He pointed at himself.

"You turned me into a demon!"

He raised one arm.

"A bloodthirsty demon!"

Then he pointed into the empty void.

"And you threw me into a world where demons are hated by everyone!"

The Goddess let out a soft laugh.

As if she genuinely found that amusing.

"When you put it that way..."

She covered her lips with one hand.

"...it does sound rather cruel."

Nox stepped toward her.

"Cruel?"

He glared at her.

"I just wanted to die in peace!"

His voice echoed through the white space.

"I never wanted this life!"

He clenched both fists.

"I don’t want to be a demon!"

He took a deep breath.

Then finally spoke the words he had been thinking for so long.

"Now I only want to destroy you. You and every other god."

The Goddess’s smile didn’t disappear.

Instead...

It widened.

"Then do it."

Nox froze.

"What?"

"Destroy me."

She spoke as naturally as if discussing the weather.

"And destroy the other gods as well."

Nox stared at her in complete confusion.

She slowly began walking around him.

"I’ve been watching how you’ve used Fallen Genesis."

Her golden eyes traveled across the demon’s body.

"You’re no longer the little demon I abandoned in those snowy mountains."

She smiled.

"You’re strong now."

She kept walking.

"You’ve built quite a nice body."

Another smile.

"And you’ve surrounded yourself with powerful women."

Nox remained completely serious.

The Goddess raised a finger.

"But..."

Her entire expression changed.

"You’re still far from being capable of facing one of us."

The demon narrowed his eyes.

"That far?"

"Very."

She answered without hesitation.

"Right now..."

She looked directly into his eyes.

"...you’re only capable of fighting a Saint."

Nox immediately remembered the battle.

Gabriel.

Dawn.

Audrey.

They were all still fighting.

"I think I can beat him."

The Goddess laughed.

"I certainly hope so."

She stepped a little closer.

"Because I’m going to give you a small helping hand."

Nox remained silent.

He didn’t trust her.

Not even a little.

The Goddess slowly raised one hand.

"But first, you need to understand something."

Her tone became much more serious.

"If you truly wish to challenge the other gods..."

Her golden eyes seemed to shine.

"...then you must first declare war on them."

Nox frowned.

"A war?"

"Exactly."

She continued.

"And no king wages a war alone."

She made a small gesture with her hand.

The white space began to distort.

An enormous continent appeared before them.

Completely empty.

Mountains.

Forests.

Rivers.

Ruins.

And destroyed cities.

"You need an empire."

Nox silently observed the vision.

The Goddess continued.

"You need territory. You need soldiers. You need resources. And you need people who believe in you."

Then she pointed toward the enormous map.

"Fortunately..."

Her finger came to rest on a vast abandoned region.

"...there is a portal inside the very chamber where you and your companions are standing."

Nox raised an eyebrow.

"A portal?"

The woman nodded.

"It leads to Mireveil."

The name lingered in the air.

"The Forgotten Lands."

The image shifted to reveal marshlands.

Dark, abandoned forests.

Ruined fortresses.

"A place we abandoned long ago."

Nox’s curiosity stirred.

"Abandoned by the gods?"

"Exactly."

The Goddess smiled.

"No one rules there. No one protects those lands. No one claims them."

She looked directly at him.

"They could become your empire."

Nox fell into deep thought.

That...

Didn’t sound bad.

Not at all.

But he still didn’t trust her.

"Why?"

She tilted her head.

"Why what?"

"Why are you helping me?"

Nox stepped closer.

"What do you gain from all this?"

The Goddess remained completely calm.

The demon continued.

"I feel like you’re using me."

He gritted his teeth.

"As if I’m nothing more than a tool."

Silence filled the space once more.

Finally...

She answered.

"Perhaps you are."

Nox never looked away.

She smiled.

"Or perhaps you’re the only one capable of doing what I no longer can."

That answer explained absolutely nothing.

But...

Nox didn’t have many alternatives.

He looked back at the image of Mireveil.

An entire continent.

A place where he could build something of his own.

’I don’t trust her...’

He clenched both fists.

’But I don’t have a better plan than this.’

If he truly wanted to destroy the gods...

He needed to become stronger.

And this seemed like the first step.

The Goddess immediately noticed the change in his expression.

She smiled with satisfaction.

"I knew you’d understand."

She slowly approached.

Until she was standing directly before him.

Nox didn’t step back.

The woman raised one hand.

Then gently pressed a finger against the demon’s forehead.

"Then..."

She smiled.

"Accept this small gift."

At that instant...

An indescribable energy surged through Nox’s entire body.

His muscles tensed.

Veins bulged beneath his skin.

An unbearable heat spread through every inch of him.

His heart pounded with overwhelming force.

He gritted his teeth.

That energy was far greater than anything he had ever experienced before.

Even greater than during Demonic Frenzy.

"W-What... are you... doing... to me...?"

The Goddess slowly withdrew her finger.

"Preparing you."

Her smile never faded.

"Because before you can leave Frostgard..."

She looked directly into the demon’s crimson eyes.

"...you first have to survive and kill that damned Saint."
