Chapter 750: Chapter 720: Location Tracking
Receiving praise from Xing Wenhua is equivalent to a recognition of Dongzhou Culture and Tourism’s promotional methods. This is of considerable significance to the budding Dongzhou Culture and Tourism. With his praise, they can request more policy support or even financial subsidies from the Dongzhou City leadership.
After the meeting, Xing Wenhua asked someone to bring Xu Chunliang over.
It was already lunchtime, and Xu Chunliang had the honor of having lunch with the head of the provincial Culture and Tourism department.
The other attendees watched with confusion, wondering who this young man was. How could someone so junior have the opportunity to dine with our leader?
Some had attended the national cultural and tourism meeting at Taiming Lake and recognized Xu Chunliang, who had performed "Farewell My Concubine" with Xing Wenhua. Xu Chunliang had left some impression, but not as much as Su Qing. After all, during that performance, most of the attention was on the beauty, then the leader, and lastly Xu Chunliang.
Fan Lidada sat with Qi Hongyan, the Jiangdu Culture and Tourism Bureau chief, who was seeking advice on promoting East Capital barbecue. Both Jiangdu and Dongzhou were once amongst the great nine provinces, and both were among the earliest cities established in Pinghai. However, both of their cultural and tourism sectors are somewhat lacking, and between the two, Dongzhou is undoubtedly worse, nearly at the bottom within the province.
Qi Hongyan said, "You really took a different path, thinking of using cuisine to drive cultural tourism." She didn’t really agree in her heart, as Dongzhou wasn’t the first to do this.
Fan Lidada replied, "It was unintended success. To be honest, even we didn’t expect Dongzhou barbecue to become popular."
Qi Hongyan said, "I’ve followed your Dongzhou Culture and Tourism video account. Your preparations are indeed somewhat lacking; you’ve only released one video so far."
Fan Lidada said, "Our Culture and Tourism Bureau was only recently established, we’re still in the running-in phase. Even this video account, we had to ask the TV station to help us with it."
Qi Hongyan said, "That won’t do. The TV stations have a traditional mindset; their filming techniques are top-notch but already out of touch with current trends. I can’t believe your Dongzhou Culture and Tourism Bureau doesn’t even have a decent PR department."
Fan Lidada sighed, realizing this issue too, and planned to report it to Fu Guomin upon returning.
Xing Wenhua didn’t call Xu Chunliang over to discuss work. He was more concerned about his precious daughter. He was too embarrassed to ask for specific details in front of so many people last night.
Xu Chunliang recounted what he saw last night.
After listening, Xing Wenhua frowned and said, "They were high school classmates. When their feelings for each other were first discovered by the teacher, I immediately transferred Yongqing to another school. We always thought they lost contact. Never did we expect her to secretly contact that person behind our backs."
Xu Chunliang said, "Matters of the heart are hard to define,"
"What’s hard to define? That person is completely incompetent." Xing Wenhua said angrily. He wasn’t looking down on President Ma’s family background, but rather because Ma Zhong didn’t even attend college. After graduating high school, he drifted aimlessly in society. Yesterday, he already learned some information about this person from the police.
Xu Chunliang didn’t give much advice on the Xing Family’s matters, as that wasn’t why Xing Wenhua sought his opinion. His intention was for Xu Chunliang to keep this matter confidential. After all, it’s not something to be proud of, and given his position, if word got out, people would certainly ridicule him for failing in teaching his daughter.
Xing Wenhua also heard about the two perpetrators’ deaths last night, which made him nervous. After all, he only has one daughter, and initially he just thought she had met an unsuitable person. How did it become related to a murder case?
Xu Chunliang seized the chance and said, "I heard that Ma Zhong has done a lot of bad things and is even suspected of criminal activities. The police should thoroughly investigate him."
Xing Wenhua looked at Xu Chunliang and said, "According to the police department, last night’s accident should have nothing to do with him."
Xu Chunliang said, "Even if the accident isn’t related to him, it doesn’t mean he hasn’t committed other crimes. I think he should be thoroughly investigated."
Xing Wenhua understood his meaning. If Ma Zhong had other crimes, such a person shouldn’t escape legal punishment. As long as he was convicted, his daughter would naturally be safe. In this matter, one shouldn’t be soft-hearted; it could protect his daughter while ridding society of harm, a win-win situation worthy of pursuit.
As they were chatting, Xing Yongjin called, notifying his father that his sister had gone out and he didn’t know where.
Xing Wenhua was immediately alarmed. He had specifically instructed that his sister should be looked after. If she went out, he must accompany her, yet he couldn’t even handle this small matter.
Xing Wenhua quickly called his daughter. Thankfully, her phone wasn’t turned off.
Xing Yongqing told her father she just wanted to go out for a walk and would be back soon, reassuring him not to worry.
Xing Wenhua reminded his daughter to stay safe, like a wise elder. While calming his daughter, he checked her location. During her illness, he instructed his wife to confiscate her phone to do some tricks with it, enabling location tracking.
Despite Old Xing’s age, he is a gadget enthusiast, more adept at using a smartphone than most young people.
Xing Wenhua intended to have his son check on his daughter but reconsidered, feeling uneasy. He had to speak at a meeting soon, so he couldn’t just leave. He looked at Xu Chunliang.
Xu Chunliang immediately understood his intention: "Secretary Xing, if you need anything, just let me know. If there’s something you’re unable to do, I can handle it."
Xing Wenhua talked about his daughter going out alone. He wanted Xu Chunliang to go take a look. The advantage of this is that even if Xu Chunliang is discovered, he can pretend it was a chance encounter. If a family member followed, Xing Yongqing would think the family didn’t trust her and was following her.
Xu Chunliang secretly wanted to laugh. Secretary Xing, who normally acted confidently, was at a loss when it came to his daughter. He nodded and agreed to help Xing Wenhua.
Xing Wenhua sent the address to Xu Chunliang. The location showed Xing Yongqing at Hu’s Lobster, likely having a meal at this time, though whether she was alone or not was unknown.
Xu Chunliang thought it wasn’t impossible that Xing Wenhua was overreacting. Rather than staying for a meeting, it was better to go check it out. Helping leaders solve problems is a subordinate’s sacred duty.
Xu Chunliang hadn’t planned to tell Xing Wenhua about going for a TV interview, but since Xing Wenhua assigned him a task, it was fair to ask him to support his appearance, so he mentioned the interview. Xing Wenhua readily agreed.
Xu Chunliang arrived at Hu’s Lobster following the address Xing Wenhua gave him. The place was extremely busy. Xu Chunliang walked around the inside and indeed found Xing Yongqing on the second floor, sitting with Ma Zhong. Ma Zhong, who had been cold to her last night, was now all smiles, peeling shrimp for her.
Xu Chunliang took two distant photos. Old Xing would probably burst with anger seeing these photos. Xing Yongqing was hopeless. After being humiliated in public last night, she was still willing to have a meal with Ma Zhong today. Who knows what kind of spell Ma Zhong cast on her.
Xu Chunliang saw Ma Zhong get up to go to the restroom and followed him.
Ma Zhong was walking ahead while making a call: "Sister Lv, she agreed, haha, don’t worry. I am sure of her."
Ma Zhong entered the men’s restroom, and someone came in after him and locked the door. Ma Zhong didn’t notice much of it and continued his call while unzipping: "No need to be polite. It’s an honor to be asked by you. Besides, the trouble with OMMIA started because of me. Sister Lv, just take me along in the future to get rich, haha..."
Ma Zhong hung up the phone, and a big hand pressed the back of his head, slamming his face into the cold ceramic wall. His body leaned forward, and his lower half pressed against the urinal. The sensor-triggered water drenched him, cold as ice.
Ma Zhong cursed, "You bastard..." Before he could finish, the other person grabbed his hair, yanked it back, and slammed his head hard against the tiled wall. Dazed, he hadn’t figured out who was behind him before he slumped onto the floor, and the phone in his hand dropped to the ground.
Xu Chunliang picked up his phone and aimed it at Ma Zhong’s face to unlock it, but after two attempts, he failed. It wasn’t his fault — last night’s two slaps had swollen Ma Zhong’s face like a pig’s head, and it hadn’t gone down yet. Grabbing his head and slamming it against the wall just now, no matter how thick-skinned he was, he couldn’t take repeated abuse.
Xu Chunliang gave up trying, coldly asking, "Password?"
"Go to hell..."
Xu Chunliang slammed the guy’s face into the urinal again, triggering the sensor flush.
Ma Zhong screamed, "Come..."
Xu Chunliang pressed his mute point, and after a while, pulled his wet head out: "Password?"
This time, Ma Zhong didn’t dare defy, honestly revealing the password. Xu Chunliang opened his photo gallery, which was full of indecent photos and videos.
Xu Chunliang nodded. Now they had the evidence.
Ma Zhong gritted his teeth, "I’m from the Orchid Sect. If you know what’s good for you, give me back the phone... or else..."
Xu Chunliang slapped the back of his head, and Ma Zhong’s forehead hit the edge of the urinal heavily, cracking the ceramic. He blacked out.
Someone knocked on the door outside, having grown impatient, "Are you done yet?"
Xu Chunliang ignored him, took out his phone, and called Liu Qingshan: "Officer Liu, I caught a criminal for you."
Liu Qingshan perked up, "What? Who? Where?"
Xu Chunliang said, "It probably involves a large criminal gang. I’ve already subdued him; you’d better come quickly."
Liu Qingshan immediately got excited, "Okay, I’ll bring people right away. Make sure to keep him under control and stay safe."
Xu Chunliang hung up the phone, looked at Ma Zhong lying on the ground, with no time to pull up his pants. Xu Chunliang glanced and thought he wasn’t that impressive. He truly couldn’t understand what Xing Yongqing saw in him.
Ma Zhong’s limbs twitched, as if he was about to wake up. Xu Chunliang lifted his foot and kicked him on the head again.
At this moment, the banging on the door became more intense, and the person waiting outside seemed to be losing patience, too.
