Chapter 98: Chapter 98

Boom!

A’s body flew far into the distance, snapping more than a dozen trees before smashing into the ground and blasting out a crater. Dust and smoke surged into the air.

"What just happened?"

The young Kumo-nin’s eyes went wide, his face filled with disbelief.

Who was A?

He was the undisputed strongest of Kumogakure’s younger generation.

With Lightning Release Chakra Mode and his powerful nin-taijutsu, he had almost no equal in Kumogakure.

Forget people from his own generation; even many older experts found it difficult to face him directly.

On the battlefield, those fists of his were lethal weapons.

A clean hit was almost certain death, and even a glancing blow could cause serious injury.

His strength was overwhelming.

Even when Killer B fully transformed into his tailed beast form, A could still fight him back and forth.

And yet someone as powerful as A had been overpowered in raw strength?

"Idiot, look at that guy’s eyes."

Killer B’s serious voice rang out, without any of his earlier playfulness.

The young Kumo-nin hurriedly looked over, then froze.

At the corners of Kiriya’s eyes was a layer of orange eye shadow, and his black pupils had turned into horizontal pupils like those of some wild beast.

Paired with Kiriya’s face, it gave him an eerie kind of beauty—strange, dangerous, and powerful.

"What is that? Some kind of ninjutsu?"

The young Kumo-nin blurted out.

"Probably. We’re not the only ones with techniques that greatly enhance the body."

As Killer B spoke, he actually smiled.

"Now isn’t the time for jokes, B-sama," the young Kumo-nin said. "Please go help A-sama quickly, or this might become dangerous."

"If you look down on my brother, then you don’t understand his power. What you’ve seen from him is only one small part of the hour."

Killer B immediately dropped another rap.

"What?"

The young Kumo-nin looked back toward the battlefield.

By then, the dust had scattered.

A’s tall figure stood silently in place.

Although the sunken fist mark on his face made him look somewhat comical, the aura around him had grown even more heavy and violent, like a volcano on the verge of eruption.

"Not a bad punch. It had some force behind it."

A’s voice was low.

"What is that? Some kind of chakra mode?"

"Heh. Guess."

Before Kiriya’s words had even finished, he had already rushed in front of A.

He had no habit of revealing his own information to the enemy.

How many powerful heroes and villains had overturned in the gutter because they talked too much, only for their weaknesses to be discovered?

’Do you think I’d tell you that I arranged shadow clones in advance to gather natural energy so I could enter Sage Mode at any time?’

’Do you think I’d tell you that, just in case, I already marked the underground tree roots in this area with Flying Thunder God formulas beforehand?’

The longer Kiriya stayed in this shinobi world, the more he understood the value of information.

Because of that, he became increasingly strict about keeping his own secrets hidden.

So he did not waste words and chose to attack directly.

Under Sage Mode’s terrifying enhancement, even a D-rank Body Flicker Technique produced an effect close to teleportation.

On top of that, Kiriya had incorporated the explosive movement technique of Thunder Breathing: First Form, Thunderclap and Flash, making his speed unbelievably fast.

’Fast! But good!’

A’s eyes shone fiercely, his fighting spirit almost shooting into the sky.

Although he did not understand why Kiriya had not used that space-time ninjutsu this time, who would complain if the enemy chose to abandon one of his own advantages?

Besides, this kind of pure physical speed and close combat was exactly what A loved most.

Bang, bang, bang!

Their fists moved so quickly that they left behind afterimages, and the rapid, dense collisions rang out like a storm.

In the blink of an eye, the two had exchanged dozens, even over a hundred blows.

Powerful shockwaves tore outward, reducing the surrounding trees and rocks to dust.

"So... so fast! I can’t see them at all."

The young Kumo-nin widened his eyes, but he still could not capture the exact movements of Kiriya and A.

He could only make guesses from the destruction left behind by their clash, and sweat beaded on his forehead in anxiety.

Killer B’s eyes, however, were moving rapidly as he watched the entire battle between Kiriya and A.

Shock rose inside him like wave after wave of a tsunami.

’That boy... can actually fight my brother evenly in taijutsu?’

B unconsciously clenched his fists.

He had personally experienced how terrifying his brother’s fists were.

He had been beaten by them so often that he was almost traumatized.

Yet now, this young brat had such a powerful body and such fierce taijutsu. It was almost unbelievable.

’Is it because of that technique?’

Killer B grew increasingly worried.

Was this a newly developed technique, or had Konoha already completed its research? Other than this boy, could others train in it too?

If it could be spread widely, that scene would be far too terrifying to imagine.

’No. We have to capture this guy and get enough information.’

Killer B pulled out the long, narrow swords from his legs and quietly made up his mind.

’Even if my brother gets angry at me for interrupting his duel, it doesn’t matter. We can’t worry about that now.’

On the other side, A grew more and more surprised the longer they fought.

No matter how much he raised his speed, Kiriya could keep up.

Inside that small body, there seemed to be endless potential.

Kiriya, however, was not surprised by this.

After all, he was currently in Sage Mode.

Aside from the improvement to his strength and endurance, his nerve reaction speed and sensory ability had also received terrifying boosts.

A was still in his growth period and had not yet reached his true peak, so it was not strange that Kiriya could fight him head-on.

"Boy, your strength is worthy of praise. But if this is all you have, then your journey ends here."

A’s gaze grew colder.

Kiriya’s punches were heavy, but after being weakened layer by layer by his Lightning Armor, they did not cause much real damage to A’s body.

More importantly, A was famous for his endurance, while this boy’s taijutsu clearly relied on some kind of secret technique.

No matter how he looked at it, there was no way Kiriya could keep this up forever.

As long as A dragged the fight out, Kiriya would eventually show weakness. Once that happened, a single solid hit would be enough to end the match.

That said, A was not the type to simply wait around.

He preferred to crush his opponents with overwhelming force.

So he launched another fierce attack.

With Lightning Body Flicker, A appeared at Kiriya’s side.

Vast Lightning Release chakra gathered in his hand, and he swung his hand like a blade toward Kiriya’s neck.

"Lightning Oppression Horizontal Chop!"

This attack was powerful enough to split mountains and shatter stone.

"Frog Kata: Crown Splitter."

At the critical moment, Kiriya bent backward like an iron bridge, narrowly avoiding the attack, then kicked upward with his right foot.

Although A had unleashed a heavy hand-chop, he had still kept some strength in reserve.

Seeing Kiriya counterattack at the very instant he dodged, a trace of approval flashed through A’s eyes.

"Good reaction. Too bad it’s useless."

He raised his left hand, intending to block Kiriya’s kick.

But before his hand could get into position, a tremendous force slammed into his chin and sent his entire body flying.

While he was still in midair, A was briefly lost.

’What happened? What just happened? Where am I?’
