Chapter 118: Chapter 118
Feeling everyone’s eyes on him, Kiriya scratched his head and gave them an honest-looking smile.
"Don’t give me too much credit. I only helped a little."
He pinched his thumb and index finger together to show how little.
Everyone fell silent.
They had truly been shocked by how shameless he was!
After the initial shock passed, Loki became excited.
Because this was Hestia!
Hestia, who had stayed single for who knew how long in Heaven, had fallen in the mortal world for a sixteen-year-old boy.
What is this?
This was massive news on the level of the universe exploding or the One eyed Dragon ending the world!
Compared with this, Ishtar being sent back to Heaven was small potatoes.
"Well, well, well. Hestia, I never thought you’d be the one to leave the single-goddess club first."
Loki teased her in a strange Kansai accent.
"If the others find out about this, they might explode on the spot."
"Interesting. This is way too interesting!"
She could already imagine the looks on her old acquaintances’ faces when they found out.
Their jaws might actually shatter on the floor!
"Mm, not bad, brat. Not bad at all. You actually managed to make Hestia fall for you. That takes real skill."
Loki threw her head back and laughed three times before praising Kiriya.
"Though I have to ask, can your body keep up? Hestia’s been holding back for a long, long time. That kind of firepower isn’t normal."
As she spoke, she reached out and patted Kiriya on the shoulder, then near his waist.
"How is it? Still alive down there? Want me to bring you some minotaur balls to help you recover?"
Kiriya rolled his eyes and slapped away Loki’s wandering hand.
"No thanks. I don’t need it."
What a joke.
His battle power last night had been over 9000!
Why would he need that stuff?
"Don’t be shy! From today on, you’re my brother. If you need anything, just say the word!"
Loki’s enthusiasm did not fade at all, and she kept trying to promote the stock she had at home.
Riveria and the others covered their faces, unable to watch any longer.
They had just been criticizing Hestia for saying something bold, but Loki was not any better.
This conversation had already driven straight off the family-friendly road!
’Please stop before you corrupted the younger ones.’
With that thought, Riveria secretly glanced at Ais.
Seeing the blond girl’s thoughtful expression, her heart sank, and she deeply regretted bringing her along.
"Lo—ki—"
A faint, eerie voice rang out from the side, like it had crawled up from the depths of hell.
Loki shuddered.
When she turned her head, she saw red light blazing in Hestia’s eyes.
Her long hair rose without wind, and she looked like a beautiful little demon ready to tear someone apart.
"Ahhhhh—!"
The next moment, Hestia charged forward and unleashed her ultimate bite, landing a critical hit on Loki.
"Waaah! Take my Dragon Claw!"
"Eek! I’ll bite you!"
Seeing the two goddesses wrestling into a mess, Riveria stepped forward and apologized.
"I’m very sorry. We’ve caused trouble for you."
"It’s fine. As long as the misunderstanding is cleared up."
Kiriya waved it off, not bothered at all.
Actually, it was probably better that Loki had come.
With her strange relationship with Hestia, the situation was bound to turn into this after a few sentences anyway, saving him quite a bit of trouble.
"You’re... very strong."
At that moment, Ais walked over and spoke to Kiriya seriously.
Kiriya: "..."
’Girl, saying that right now could cause a misunderstanding.’
Riveria: "..."
Feeling Riveria’s gaze grow sharper, Kiriya curled his lips.
He was not taking responsibility for this one!
They were the ones who barged into his house, and their goddess was the one making dirty jokes.
He was clearly the victim here!
"Would you fight me sometime?"
Ais’s words made both of them freeze, and then they both felt slightly ashamed.
People really did get infected by their surroundings.
After hearing so much questionable talk, they had actually thought Ais was starting to...
’Cough.’
’What a dirty mind!’
"Cough, cough. Next time. Definitely next time."
Kiriya quickly laughed it off and turned around to break up the fight.
If he kept standing with this blond girl, he was afraid his thoughts would drift somewhere dangerous again. Riveria followed as well.
After a great deal of effort, the two sides finally separated the goddesses.
Even then, the two were still stretching out their arms and kicking their legs, completely unwilling to let the matter go.
Seeing this, Riveria acted decisively and ordered Ais to carry Loki away.
After apologizing again, she left as well.
...
After leaving Hearth Manor and stepping onto the street, Loki, who had looked like an enraged cat only moments ago, immediately calmed down.
Seeing that, Riveria understood at once and had Ais put her down.
"What will we tell the Guild?" Riveria asked.
"What else? Give them the obvious answer." Loki replied casually.
"He said very clearly that he didn’t leave home the entire night, and that was true. Riveria, just write a report saying that."
She had no interest in wasting more time on the Guild’s problem.
Because right now, something far more important had taken over her mind.
"That little shorty... actually found someone. And she’s even living with him now... News this juicy would be wasted if only I knew about it. I have to spread the word!"
With that, Loki excitedly ran toward Twilight Manor.
She needed to think carefully about the wording and decide how much detail to add.
"Oh, the inspiration just keeps coming!" Loki shouted as she sprinted ahead.
The others exchanged helpless smiles and followed.
...
Adventurers Guild. The Guildmaster’s office.
Royman Mardeel sat in his well-cut suit and stared at the report on his desk without saying a word.
A god had been returned to Heaven, and the whole city had felt the tremor.
As Orario’s managing hand, the Guild had to be seen doing something — leave a vacuum, and the gods would happily fill it with mischief.
So Royman had moved fast, putting people on the scene and pulling at every thread the information offered.
And the thread that kept tugging back was a boy named Kiriya, freshly at war with the very goddess now sitting in Heaven.
His gut said the boy was guilty.
His decades of survival in a high seat said to keep his distance from that fact.
Go poking around in person, spook the wrong man, and what was to stop that man from tidying up a loose end? He had no intention of becoming one.
So he’d leaned on his office and asked Loki — and a handful of her best — to look into it for him, hoping they’d turn up something he could use.
What came back was short.
No evidence. The trail simply stopped.
Meanwhile the public was at a rolling boil and the pressure from the gods grew by the hour.
He needed an answer that would cool divine tempers and satisfy the street both.
Ideally, one that also kept Kiriya occupied for a good long while... since the boy had a real gift for breaking things.
"It seems I’ve no choice but to go to Lord Ouranos."
He rose slowly to his feet.
...
Deep beneath the Guild, on the underground altar.
The old god sat cross-legged, white of hair and beard.
He regarded Royman for a moment before he spoke.
"Ishtar drew on her divine power without leave and was returned to Heaven. That much is settled."
"Yes." Royman let a breath go.
If Lord Ouranos had pronounced it, then the whole matter could close right here.
And if there happened to be some formidable hand behind the act — well. Royman was rather fond of his own life.
The other party had killed a god.
What was one Guildmaster beside that? Sometimes the wiser man chooses, deliberately, not to understand.
"The Dungeon grows more restless of late," Ouranos went on, his voice low and weighted, "and our progress has crawled. We haven’t yet matched what was reached in the days of the Zeus and Hera Familias. Royman — we need stronger hands going down."
"Yes." Royman understood instantly, and answered with deference.
"Kiriya is powerful, and rarely gifted. With him among us, given time, we may close the gap on Zeus and Hera. Perhaps even pass them." He paused. "An expedition would make a fine forge for a boy like that to grow in."
"That," said Ouranos, "is your concern to arrange."
He let his eyes fall shut.
"Go. I must return to my prayers."
"Yes."
