"Maybe we should make sure both parties don’t make it out alive. It’s an opportunity not to be missed," the Chief Eunuch said.

"How? I can’t risk the Qing Feng Sect rebelling against me now," Emperor Quan Shi frowned at the suggestion.

"Wait for their battle to finish and unleash the full force of the Raging Tiger Army on them.

"Since the northern border is safe now, sacrificing the Raging Tiger Army is a small price to pay for your Majesty to have full control over the sects.

"With so much power in his hands, it’s about time for General Liu Feng of the Raging Tiger Army to retire."

The Chief Eunuch proposed his plans.

Emperor Quan Shi rubbed his temple and thought about the proposal.

The Chief Eunuch was right that this opportunity shouldn’t be missed. Continue reading at Freewebnovel

He was also getting fed up with the power that General Liu Feng wielded with every victory.

No one shall be powerful enough to challenge his authority.

Finally, he made his decision and said, "Summon General Liu Feng of the Raging Tiger Army."

Qing Feng Sect.

Lin Fan and Ho Ming were gathered at the central square.

They were to be allocated into teams before moving out to the Tai Mountains.

Lin Fan was in his face mask disguise again, and this time he had the look of a scholar; he wanted to look harmless to avoid attention from the Dark Lotus Sect.

This time taking on the fake name of ’Lu Ding’.

Several female disciples subtly looked at him as he was too handsome to ignore.

Even Hun Yen Kun paled in comparison.

Other disciples weren’t as friendly as they tried to figure out who he was.

Must be one of those disciples from a rich family, they thought.

They only hoped that they weren’t teamed in the same team as ’Lu Ding’.

All of them were looking around in the central square searching for Lin Fan.

They knew their lives would be safe if they were on the mission with him.

But everyone was disappointed when Lin Fan was nowhere in sight.

From what Lin Fan had been able to accomplish so far, it was a no-brainer to be on the same team as him.

"Next team, Ho Ming, Lu Ding, Lee Xiao and Tai Lan," a senior disciple read out loud from a scroll.

When Lee Xiao and Tai Lan from the Sword Peak heard the announcement, they were disappointed when they saw who ’Lu Ding’ was.

Lee Xiao, with his already small eyes, squinted and nudged at Tai Lan.

Tai Lan, who was burly, turned and said, "What?"

"Let’s try to persuade Ho Ming to get Lu Ding out of our team," Lee Xiao said.

"All right. Let me tell him that," Tai Lan shrugged and walked over to Ho Ming.

"Stop! You idiot!" Lee Xiao pulled him back and shook his head.

This Tai Lan isn’t the brightest.

But he’d rather be with Tai Lan than the pale-faced ’Lu Ding’.

At least Tai Lan’s swordsmanship was better than his.

"Wait for Lu Ding to make a mistake, then we can persuade Ho Ming convincingly. As of now, Ho Ming wouldn’t be so stupid to listen to us," Lee Xiao said.

Tai Lan slapped his forehead and said, "Sorry, didn’t think about it in this manner. You were always smarter than me."

"Good luck, Lee Xiao," one of the disciples smirked and patted Lee Xiao on his back when he passed by.

The other disciples following him also shook their heads at Lee Xiao.

What bad luck Lee Xiao had.

Lucky this ’Lu Ding’ wasn’t in their team.

"Damn you. I’ll show you when I slaughter the Dark Lotus disciples," Lee Xiao spat on the ground and said.

A voice came up to him and said, "I see that you are not in a good mood. Maybe we should come back later."

Lee Xiao saw that it was ’Lu Ding’ and Ho Ming.

"Guess we are a team now. I’m Lee Xiao and this is Tai Lan. Don’t be foolish and try to stay alive," Lee Xiao said.

"We definitely will try our best to stay alive," Lin Fan smiled and said.

"Tai Lan’s swordsmanship is excellent; if there’s any danger you can’t handle, run behind him," Lee Xiao patted Tai Lan on his shoulder and said.

Tai Lan scratched the back of his head and smiled at Lin Fan and Ho Ming.

"Yes, I shall protect both of you if anything happens."

Lin Fan nodded and smiled back at Tai Lan.

This team isn’t that bad, he thought.

Although he was aware of how the other disciples looked at him, he wasn’t bothered as usual.

Even though this Lee Xiao didn’t seem to like him, Lee Xiao’s actions said otherwise.

He still had the mind to brief them on how to try to stay alive.

Much better than the others Lin Fan had encountered before.

With the teams allocated, it was then time to move out and head toward the Tai Mountains.

Over a hundred disciples were involved in the mission and it took them.

The journey to the Tai Mountains was relatively uneventful.

Except for the occasional rest where fights broke out when some of the disciples got frustrated, there wasn’t anything unusual happening.

Once they’d entered the boundaries of the Tai Mountains, they camped for the night before commencing the onslaught.

Lin Fan, Ho Ming, Lee Xiao and Tai Lan were in their tent having dry rations.

Lee Xiao had now changed a bit of his perception of ’Lu Ding’.

’Lu Ding’ was surprisingly able to catch up to the long march.

Some of the disciples couldn’t take the long arduous march and had to drop out.

"Lee Xiao, hope you still have strength for tomorrow, it must have been tough on you to take care of your teammates," one of the disciples came in and taunted Lee Xiao.

It was the same disciple from the central square.

"Fong, if you had time for this childish behavior, why don’t you prepare for your eventual death tomorrow?" Lee Xiao replied angrily.

Lin Fan looked on with intrigue.

These two must have some vengeance for each other.

"Huh. I think there’s a higher chance of you dying first," Fong pointed at Lin Fan and said.
