Chapter 85: The Boss Arrives

Thes withdrew her hand, taken aback by the manager’s tone.

The manager’s gaze lingered on Thea, her expression dripping with condescension. "Can you afford this expensive jewelry?" She mocked, her voice loaded with scorn.

The manager’s eyes scanned her casual outfit, and she made a swift judgment about her financial situation. She assumed that Thea was poor, unaware that the price of the jewelry set was actually beyond her own annual income. Her condescending attitude and sarcastic remarks were a reflection of her own biases and prejudices, rather than an accurate assessment of Thea’s financial capabilities.

"So this is how the manager talks to their customers." Charlotte said, her voice flat and emotionless.

The manager, still condescending, retorted, "If you can’t buy, then please don’t waste our precious time here ."

Thea, undeterred, asked, "What is the price of this set?"

The manager sneered, "100,000 dollars...can you afford it?"

Thea was taken aback, torn between her desire to buy the gift and the potential scolding she’d receive from her grandma if she knew the price.

Meanwhile, Charlotte’s expression remained calm as she asked the manager, "What’s your name?"

The manager scoffed, "Why should I tell you?"

Charlotte smiled sweetly, took out her phone, and dialed a number. "I’m in your shop. Come here right now."

The manager’s expression faltered, sensing something was amiss, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it.

"So, Charlotte should we go to the other shop?" Thea whispered, sensing the tension.

"No, let’s wait." Charlotte replied, her smile was soft and enigmatic.

Shortly after, a well-dressed man in a suit walked into the shop. "Boss! Good morning," the manager greeted, her tone suddenly deferential.

The man’s eyes scanned the scene before him, his expression inquiring. "What happened?"

Charlotte turned to him, her eyes locked on him. "So, this is how you appoint the manager of your shop?" she asked, her voice laced with subtle accusations.

The manager’s eyes widened, realizing her boss was standing before her, and that Charlotte’s phone call had summoned him to the scene. The atmosphere in the shop shifted, with the balance of power now tilting in Charlotte’s favor.

"Fire her, cousin. She’s not suitable for this job." Charlotte said bluntly. The manager, terrified, fell to her knees. "Please don’t fire me... I b...beg of you, please..." she pleaded.

Charlotte remained silent. The boss, Charlotte’s cousin, looked at the scene, and sighed. "Collect your things and leave." he said firmly. The manager continued to beg, "Boss, please... don’t...." but her words fell on deaf ears. A security guard then arrived to escort her out.

"So, why did you suddenly come to the shop?"

"My friend wants to buy a present, so I came along with her." Charlotte replied with a smile.

"Thea, let’s choose which design you want to take," Charlotte announced, turning to her friend.

Thea was still trying to process the scene she had just witnessed. She couldn’t muster up any sympathy for the former manager, agreeing that the woman wasn’t suited for the position. The boss, Charlotte’s cousin, bid them farewell. "I’ll leave you two to your shopping. I have some urgent matters to attend to." he said, nodding at Charlotte and Thea.

With that, the boss headed out of the shop, leaving Charlotte and Thea to continue browsing the designs. The atmosphere in the shop felt more relaxed now, and Thea let out a sigh of relief. " That was quite a scene earlier," she said, turning to Charlotte.

Charlotte rolled her eyes. "That girl was literally dancing on my head! She shouldn’t have misbehaved with us or any other customers. Her attitude was completely unacceptable."

Thea’s gaze wandered around the shop, and her eyes landed on another design. "What’s the price of this one?" she asked, pointing to it.

"It’s $6,000,Miss." the sales associate replied.

"I’ll take it.." Thea said with a smile, glancing at Charlotte before making her purchase.

As they entered Thea home, Charlotte exclaimed . "Your garden is breathtaking!" , her gaze lingering on the vibrant blooms.

Thea laughed as she replied, "It is grandma’s hardwork. She’s always been passionate about gardening and makes sure our garden is beautiful all year round."

Thea unlocked the door and entered, calling out to her grandmother. "Grandma, see who came to meet you!"

"Who is it?" Grandma Grace asked from the kitchen, where she was busy preparing lunch.

"It’s me, Charlotte.." Charlotte replied, smiling.

Thea began putting the groceries on the counter while Grandma Grace wiped her hands on a towel and turned to face them. "Good to see you, Charlotte." she said warmly.

Thea pouted, "Grandma, you totally foiled my plan."

Grandma Grace chuckled. "What plan are you talking about?"

Charlotte stood near Thea and whispered softly in her ear. "What plan are you talking about?"

Thea looked at her sideways and whispered back, "The surprise... Forgot?"

Grandma Grace, who couldn’t understand what the two were discussing, asked, "What are you whispering to each other?"

"She’s telling me that she’ll prepare dinner tonight for us."Charlotte smiled mischievously and replied

"For us?" Thea raised her eyebrows. "Hmm... I am included too.." Charlotte whispered softly.

"Grandma, how about I stay here at night and accompany you today? Will you allow it?" Charlotte asked.

"Of course, dear... for that, you don’t have to ask permission," Grandma Grace answered, continuing to cook the meal.

Thea dragged Charlotte to the living room, looking curious. "Are you serious about it?"

"What to think seriously about?" Charlotte asked back, playing dumb.

Thea nodded, and just then, Grandma Grace’s voice came from the kitchen, "Thea, go and clean the guest room for Charlotte."

"You don’t have to clean the room... I will sleep in your room," Charlotte said with a grin.

"Sharing is caring, darling," Charlotte continued to tease.

"I will sleep in the bed, and you will sleep on the sofa, then... I won’t share my bed with you,"

"Don’t say that... my heart, oh oh, it’s in great pain... how can you treat your best friend like this?" Charlotte started to sob dramatically.

"Cry more... I can see your crocodile tears," Thea spoke, unimpressed.

"So, I won’t continue my sobbing... but I will be with you tonight in your room," Charlotte said, still trying to get her way.

"Don’t harbor any dirty thoughts in your mind... or don’t try to," Thea warned, raising an eyebrow.Charlotte just laughed and playfully rolled her eyes.

Thea entered her room, followed by Charlotte. "This is the trophy you won at the competition?" Charlotte pointed out, eyeing the shelf.

"Hmm," Thea hummed.

"You got it from Mr. Thompson... How lucky," Charlotte exclaimed, impressed.

"So, Charlotte, that Jewellery shop is owned by your cousin?" Thea asked, curious.

"Hmm... He’s a distant relative," Charlotte replied, still looking around the room.

Charlotte’s gaze landed on a photograph on the desk. "You looked more pretty in your childhood." she exclaimed.

"Now I’m not pretty ...You mean?"

"No... Now you’re.... sexy...hot .. You have a killing body... Look at it." Charlotte continued to tease, giggling.

"Charlotte!" Thea quickly grabbed a pillow from the bed and threw it in her direction, laughing.

Charlotte ducked, still grinning mischievously, and the pillow landed softly on the floor.

"Again, you started your nonsense with my body." Thea spoke, laughing.

"Once you get married, I will tell your husband how perverted you are. " she continued, teasingly.

"I am okay with it," Charlotte grinned mischievously.

"If a man sees a killing body, trust me, they fall in love with it," Charlotte said, still grinning.

"Again, you are corrupting my mind with your words" Thea spoke, shaking her head.

"Have you not heard what men prefer?" Charlotte asked.

"What?"

"Sexy body and beautiful woman.. " Charlotte laughed.

"Not all men are the same," Thea spoke, rolling her eyes.

"How many men have you seen? There are many perverts outside, beware of them," Charlotte said, still teasing.

"So, is your Ryan too into..." Thea started to ask, but didn’t finish the sentence.

"No, my Ryan is not," Charlotte replied quickly, defending her beloved.

"What about his girlfriend... you said what name... Ava, yeah Ava...?" She looked at her.

"Don’t spoil my mood by mentioning her name... Yeah, she too has a great body, I have to say," Charlotte replied, waving her hand dismissively.

"Charlotte, your body is too great," Thea said, trying to flatter her.

"But I want my chest to be bigger." Charlotte said, pouting.
