Chapter 80: I’m Her Relative
She became pale, clenched her fists, and screamed, "Go away! Don’t come over here!"
Under the light, his bronze skin gleaming, he threw himself at her and tried to rip her blouse.
Unbeknownst to Thea, the call she had made earlier was still connected, the line remaining open despite the chaos that had ensued.
"Get lost!" Thea screamed, kicking her legs wildly as the man held them down. She was shouting at the top of her lungs, her voice hoarse from the effort.
As the man leaned in to lick her neck, Thea felt a wave of revulsion wash over her. She screamed again, her stomach churning with nausea. In a desperate bid to defend herself, she vomited all over the man’s neck.
The man froze, his face contorted in disgust. "Damn you, you puked on me!" he yelled, his anger boiling over. He kicked Thea hard in the stomach, sending a searing pain through her abdomen.
As she doubled over, gasping for breath, the man yanked her upright and slapped her across the face. She lost her balance and crashed into a nearby mirror, the shards of glass slicing into her skin. The pain was excruciating, and she felt herself slipping towards unconsciousness.
"Leader, look at that... she’s bleeding" Covered in vomit, one of the men ventured the man who shoved Thea.
"Quiet! I must tear her apart today. Damn it, is it the first time you’ve seen someone so hot?" he snarled, his eyes blazing with a crazed intensity.
Thea lay on the floor, weak and pale. She was almost unable to open her eyes at this point.
Suddenly, she got up and threw herself at the leader. The man had no idea that this woman would be so daring after almost being killed. He was knocked off balance and immediately pushed her away.
"Hurry, we cannot have someone die here."
The man immediately decided. "No way! If this woman tells someone about today, we are dead. I think she will sue all of us."
"Then we shall we do?"
"No one knows about this anyway. Let’s just go."
"But..."
"What? You want to go to jail alone?"
In the end, those people decided to leave the warehouse. However, a man with a stern face appeared in front of them.
What was this man doing here?
The four of them were scared, covered in cold sweat. Ryder glanced at the men.
Everyone felt their knees were weak.
Suddenly, Ryder heard a huge noise and a woman’s voice.
"Help..."Thea’s weak voice came into his ears.
It was her! Ryder walked towards the direction of her voice, feeling oddly disturbed.
Ryder had swiftly contacted the police upon receiving her distressing call, providing them with vital information about the situation. He then utilized his connections to rapidly locate Thea’s exact whereabouts, determining that she was being held at the abandoned warehouse.
With the police on their way, Ryder rushed to the scene, arriving simultaneously with the authorities. As the attackers saw Ryder accompanied by the police, they panicked and attempted to flee. However, their escape was thwarted, and they were promptly apprehended by the officers.
Feeling things had quieted down,Thea was suddenly relieved. Those people had left for real. However, it hurt so much. The acute pain in her body was over the limit that she could take. She raised an arm, wanting to take the phone out of her pocket but failed. Her phone was dropped on the floor next to her waist but she couldn’t reach it.
Ryder kicked the door of the room open and immediately saw the woman lying in a pool of blood. Thea had little fabric covering her body, most of her skin exposed. Almost driven by his instincts, Ryder ran up to check her situation.
"Thea...Thea?"
Thea was so pale that her face was as white as a piece of paper .Breathing rapidly, she was covered in cold sweat. Her eyes were shut as her eyelashes fluttered slightly.
Ryder’s eyes that had always been cold were melted by the violent scene he saw. "Thea, wake up!" Ryder sat her straight and patted her cheek.
Holding her stomach, she was sobbing with her lips shivering silently. Tears fell down her cheeks, making his heart tremble. Thea was in such great pain that she almost fainted. She thought she heard something and felt something. Opening her eyes difficultly, she thought she had seen that person!
"Ryder." Whispering.
"Don’t worry. I will take you to the hospital right away." His voice was as cold as always. But it might be her illusion-she could almost hear fear in his voice. He was scared.
His heart throbbing, he covered her with his jacket and quickly carried her with his arms, while catching a glimpse of the screen of her phone.
His grip on Thea tighten with protectiveness. He quickened his pace, his long strides devouring the distance as he hastened to get her to safety. The phone’s screen seemed to sear itself into his mind, fueling his determination to save her and make those responsible pay.
At the most desperate and helpless time of her life the person she called immediately was him... Grabbing her phone, Ryder rushed downstairs with her in his arms with a blank mind. He did not want to think about it. However, his heart was tortured by a ghost. It was almost suffocating.
He walked downstairs and saw two police cars parked in front of the door, with those people who were responsible for Thea’s’ condition. However, someone was missing. The one who was their leader was not there.
The ambulance had already arrived.Ryder did not know how he got into the ambulance and arrived at the hospital. All he could think of was the words of the doctor, "There are some broken pieces of glass on her body. They have to be removed quickly..."
Outside the operating room, Ryder’s anxiety simmered just below the surface. Axton, his assistant, approached him with a somber look.
"Sir, the police have informed us that one of the attackers escaped." Axton said."The others claim he was the mastermind behind the attack."
Ryder’s eyes flashed with anger. "Where are they being held?"
Axton got scared by his boss’s tone,he answered,"The police station, Sir."
Ryder’s gaze turned icy, his mind racing with thoughts of retribution. Those scum almost cost Thea’s life!
Before Ryder said anything, the door of the emergency room was opened. "The operation was successful.Who is the family?"
He quickly walked up and said, "I’m her relative." he stated.
The doctor’s expression turned sympathetic, and he nodded solemnly. "Please be aware of her emotional state. The incident may have triggered some trauma, and we need to handle her with care."
"I understand," he replied, his voice low and resolute. "We’ll be careful."
Sending the doctor away, Ryder went into the private ward.
Thea was asleep, her face pale. Her fingers dug into the blanket underneath her and her forehead was covered by cold sweat. She looked like a wilting daisy.
Gazing deeply at her, Ryder turned around and walked away. He turned away, trying to compose himself, and stepped into the hallway to make a call.
He called Grandma Grace,"Grandma,Thea is with me.She won’t return home today as mother doesn’t want to."Ryder said, his voice low and reassuring.
"Okay..Goodnight."Ryder after speaking ended the call.
Ryder ended the call, feeling a pang of guilt for deceiving her grandmother. He didn’t want Grandma Grace to worry about her granddaughter ,Thea so he had to lie to her.But he couldn’t bear the thought of her worrying about Thea’s condition, not yet. He needed to shield her from this, at least for now, and ensure Thea received the care
The main culprit had never been so down on his luck. He heard that the other three guys were taken into custody with decision pending.
The main culprit stood at the train station with luggage in his hand, looking left and right. It was almost 10 o’clock in the evening, and the train was almost here. As long as he hopped on, he could run away .His phone buzzed and it was from his family.
He answered, "Hello?"
"Where are you?" His wife sounded like she was sobbing. He could also hear his only child crying. He suddenly had a crazy idea:’ Who was after his family!’
