Chapter 66: Slipped And Fell
Thea stood from her seat and made her way to climb the stairs, her footsteps light on the marble floor. "I’ll go get him." she said before disappearing from view.
As she climbed, she could hear Elder Edward’s teasing voice below. "And Thea, don’t forget to tell him his grandfather is waiting."
Thea stood in front of Ryder’s room before knocking twice.She didn’t hear his reply so she turned the door knob before opening the door
There was no sight of him inside.She heard the sound of water coming from the bathroom.
"Ryder your grandfather is calling you.. "she didn’t heard any reply.
"Ryder.."She called again ..But no reply from his side.
"Did anything happen to him?" She got tensed.She thought something might happen to him thus she rushed towards the bathroom door.The door was not locked she opened it quickly.
She burst open the door and entered. The sight flabbergasted her. Ryder was showering under the head shower, his body glistening with water droplets. He was shirtless, and she could see the defined muscles of his chest and arms, the contours of his shoulders, and the sharp lines of his collarbone. His skin was smooth and unblemished. For a moment, she forgot to breathe, her eyes fixed on the sight before her. She had never seen Ryder like this before, and her mind struggled to process the sheer masculinity of the scene. Ryder’s eyes were closed, and his head was tilted back, letting the water pour down his face, oblivious to her presence.
His six-pack abs were clearly defined, each muscle ripple visible beneath his smooth skin. Thea’s gaze lingered on the sight, her mind racing with a mix of surprise and fascination. She had never seen Ryder without a shirt before, and the sight of his chiseled physique left her breathless. The water droplets glistened on his skin, accentuating the contours of his muscles, and she felt her face grow warm with a flush. She quickly looked away, trying to compose herself, but her eyes betrayed her, sneaking another glance at Ryder’s impressive physique.
His eyes were closed, but he quickly opened them, catching her off guard. Thea flushed her cheek red as she realized she had been caught staring. She quickly decided to make a hasty exit, thinking she would explain to him later about her intrusion.
But before she could turn around and leave, her feet slipped on the wet floor and she lost her balance. She felt herself falling, anticipating the pain of hitting the hard ground. But instead of feeling a jolt, she felt something soft and warm beneath her.
She quickly opened her eyes to find herself staring into Ryder’s eyes. His gaze was intense, his eyes narrowed slightly as he looked at her with a mixture of surprise. Thea’s heart skipped a beat as she realized she was lying on top of Ryder, her chest pressed against his bare chest.
Her eyes met Ryder’s, and she felt a jolt of electricity run through her body. She was lying on top of him, her chest pressed against his, and she could feel the warmth of his skin beneath her. Ryder’s eyes were narrowed slightly.
For a moment, they just stared at each other, the only sound the gentle patter of the water from the shower. Thea’s face grew even hotter as she realized her position, and she tried to scramble off Ryder’s chest. But Ryder’s arms wrapped around her, holding her in place.
She was acutely aware of Ryder’s bare chest beneath her, and the way his arms felt wrapped around her. It was like being enveloped in a warm embrace, and Thea’s felt her heart racing in response.
"I...I’m so sorry.." Thea stuttered, trying to extricate herself from Ryder’s grasp. "I didn’t mean to intrude."
As she tried to extricate herself from Ryder’s chest, she lost her balance again and fell on top of him, her body pressing against his. This time, she heard a groan from Ryder, a sound of discomfort and pain.
"You stay there.." Ryder said with difficulty, his voice strained from the impact.
She froze, realizing she had hurt him. She carefully got up from him, her movements slow and cautious. As she stood up, she felt the weight of her drenched clothes clinging to her body.
Her dress was soaked, sticking to her skin, and her hair was plastered to her face. She looked down at herself, mortified.
She quickly rushed out from the bathroom and went to her room, her heart beat was accelerating . She closed the door behind her with a thud, as if trying to shut out the embarrassment that lingered in the air.
Leaning against the door, she took a deep breath in an attempt to calm herself down. But as she replayed the incident in her mind, her cheek flushed once again, and she couldn’t help but let out a mortified groan.
"Why did I have to be so clumsy?" she thought to herself, burying her face in her hands. She couldn’t believe she had fallen not once, but twice, in front of Ryder. And to make matters worse, she had landed on top of him, her body pressed against his bare chest. The memory of his warm skin and defined muscles sent a shiver down her spine, and she felt her face grow even hotter.
She looked at herself in the mirror and couldn’t help but laugh at the sight. Her dress was clinging to her body, accentuating every curve and contour. She quickly decided to change into something dry, or else she might catch a cold. She rummaged through her closet and pulled out a comfortable shirt and trouser, slipping into them with relief.
Next, she grabbed a hair dryer in the closet and quickly dried her hair, trying to restore some semblance of order to her tangled locks. As she worked, she couldn’t help but think about the embarrassing encounter with Ryder. She hoped that he wouldn’t misunderstand her about it too much.
With her hair finally dry and her clothes changed, Thea took a deep breath and headed downstairs.When she approached the living room, she saw Ryder had come downstairs and was sitting with his grandparents.They were all talking and smiling, and Thea felt a pang of nervousness as she entered the room.
While he was sitting with his grandparents, Ryder’s attire was a bit more put together.He wore a pair of soft, grey sweatpants and a plain white t-shirt. The casual attire made him look relaxed and at ease, like he was enjoying a lazy day with his grandparents. The simplicity of his outfit also highlighted his natural charm and effortless good looks. His hair was still slightly messy, but it added to his charming and laid-back demeanor. He looked like a young man who was comfortable in his own skin and loved being surrounded by the people he cared about.
"I asked you to call him, but you took too long to call him, for half an hour, I was about to call you two before..." Elder Edward spoke, turning to Thea as she entered. "Wait, did you change your attire, Thea?" he asked, his eyes were confused as he took in her new clothes.
She felt her face grow warm as she realized she had been caught. "I.. I..uh, got wet," she stammered, trying to come up with an excuse.
"How come you got wet yourself while you went to call him?" Elder Edward asked back.
Thea stammered, trying to come up with an explanation. "It..w..was.."
"Did anything happen between you two? Are you hiding something from us?" Elder Edward asked, his eyes narrowing slightly as he looked at Thea and Ryder simultaneously.
Ryder intervened before she could respond. "She went to call me and she entered the bathroom and got herself wet.." he explained, trying to downplay the situation.
But Elder Edward was not convinced. "Only she got wet, or did you two... Did we miss something interesting?" he asked, his eyes glinting with curiosity as he looked at Rosie, who was watching the exchange with interest.
"Darling, what are you insinuating?"
Thea felt her face grow hot with embarrassment as she realized where Elder Edward’s questions were leading. "No, nothing happened!" she exclaimed, trying to set the record straight. "I just slipped and fell in the bathroom, and got myself wet."
