Chapter 60: Stop With The Compliments!
With a final flourish of her brush, Thea stepped back from her canvas, gazing upon the completed artwork with a sense of pride and accomplishment. The colors seemed to dance across the fabric, the figures and scenery blending together in a harmonious celebration of her childhood memories.
Thea’s room was bathed in a soft, golden light, as if the very essence of her memories had been distilled into the atmosphere. The air was alive with the whispers of the past, echoes of laughter and tears, of love and connection.
With a satisfied sigh, she knew that she had captured the essence of her childhood, preserving the memories for posterity. "Childhood Serenity" was more than just a painting – it was a testament to the power of love and memory, a reminder of the moments that shape us into who we are today.
Her brushstrokes had captured a heartwarming scene from her childhood, a moment of serenity and love that had left an indelible mark on her heart. In the painting, a young girl, no more than 5 years old, sat beside an elderly woman, presumably her grandmother, on a weathered wooden bench. The girl’s eyes sparkled with curiosity, her smile radiant as she listened intently to her grandmother’s stories.
The grandmother’s face, lined with age and experience, was a map of warmth and kindness. Her eyes, gentle and knowing, seemed to hold a deep understanding of the world and its ways. Her wrinkled hands, clasped together in her lap, appeared to be holding secrets and tales of their own.
In the background, a man and woman stood watching the pair, their faces filled with a mix of nostalgia and fondness. The man’s eyes, warm and gentle, seemed to hold a deep affection for the child, while the woman’s gaze was soft and nurturing.
The scene was set against a backdrop of lush greenery, with sun-dappled leaves and vibrant flowers adding a pop of color to the canvas. The atmosphere was tranquil, with a sense of stillness that seemed to whisper, "All is right with the world."
Her painting was a testament to the joy and simplicity of childhood, a celebration of the love and connection that had shaped her early years. As she gazed upon the canvas, memories flooded her mind – laughter-filled afternoons with her grandmother, stories of adventure and bravery, and the comforting embrace of her family’s love. "Childhood Serenity" was more than just a painting; it was a poignant tribute to the beauty of her past, a reminder of the moments that had made her who she was today.
As she carefully varnished the canvas, protecting it for generations to come, she smiled, knowing that her art would continue to whisper stories of her childhood serenity, inspiring others to cherish their own memories, and hold them close to their hearts.
With the art competition just around the corner, scheduled for July 4th, Thes felt a sense of excitement and nervousness. She had already completed her painting, "Childhood Serenity," and was eager to showcase it to the world.
When she carefully read through the competition guidelines previously ,she had noticed that there was no specific theme mentioned, leaving the creative direction entirely up to the participants. This freedom to explore any subject matter had initially intimidated her, but ultimately, it allowed her to tap into her deepest inspirations.
After much contemplation, she decided to submit "Childhood Serenity," a heartfelt tribute to her own childhood memories. The painting was a testament to the joy, love, and serenity of her early years, and she hoped it would resonate with the judges and viewers alike.
With her artwork complete and ready for submission. She had poured her heart and soul into the painting, and it was now ready to be shared with the world.
As she carefully packaged her artwork, she couldn’t help but wonder what the competition would bring. Would her painting resonate with the judges? Would she win a prize?
The day finally arrived, Ryder’s grandparents’ 55th anniversary. In the morning, Grandma Grace went to her ancestor’s house, a place she hadn’t visited in a very long time. The occasion was bittersweet, as she had recently received news that her elder brother was suffering from cancer.
Grandma Grace had a complicated relationship with her elder brother, and they had lost touch over the years. However, when she received the call from her ancestor’s house a few days ago, she was shocked to learn that her brother had been living alone since his wife’s passing. The person who called had struggled to find her contact information, and Grace was taken aback by the news that her brother had specifically asked for her.
Despite their estranged relationship, she had already promised to visit him on this day, which meant she would have to miss the anniversary celebration. When Thea asked her the previous day, "Grandma, are you really going there?" Grandma Grace replied, "Yes, dear. After all, he is my elder brother."
Finally Grandma Grace was heading to her ancestor’s house. The ceremony would be held today, but Grace’s priority was to be with her brother, putting aside their past differences. Thus Grace said that she won’t be able to attend the event to Elizabeth when she came to her house to invite them.
Grace had previously asked her only friend, Maria, to accompany her to her ancestor’s house.
Thea had been worried about her grandmother going to their ancestor’s house alone, given the emotional significance of the occasion and the recent news about it.But since she had initially asked Maria to accompany her, Thea felt reassured that her grandmother wouldn’t have been alone.
"I’m glad Grandma wasn’t going to go alone." Thea thought to herself, feeling relieved that her grandmother had at least had someone to lean on.
In the evening, she was getting ready for the event, slipping into the floor-length gown in soft, shimmering blue that she had bought with Charlotte previously. The dress hugged her curves perfectly, its delicate fabric catching the light with every movement. The gown’s subtle sheen added a touch of sophistication to her overall look.
The neck portion of the dress featured a delicate, sheer sweetheart neckline, with a soft, curved shape that framed Thea’s face.
She wore a paired of earrings with intricate filigree details and a matching bracelet with a tiny charm. These accessories, too, were purchased with Charlotte’s help.
Finally, after she was done with her makeup, and she couldn’t help but feel satisfied with her look. She took a photo of herself and sent it to Charlotte to see her reaction.
After Thea finished applying lip gloss, she took out a pair of high heels - a pair of delicate, strap sandals with a slender heel and a subtle ankle strap adorned with tiny crystals. The shoes added a touch of glamour to her overall ensemble.
After taking the gift in the packet ..she locked her home securely and headed out to wait for the cab. As she was waiting for her cab which was late for a minute ,her phone rang, and she saw that it was her grandmother calling.
"Grandma.." Thea answered, her voice filled with warmth and affection.
"Thea , I just call as I wanted to check in with you before you head to the event." her grandmother said, her voice gentle and caring. "You sound beautiful, and I’m sure you look stunning. Have a wonderful time, and don’t forget to take lots of photos."
"Grandma, how is Grandfather now?"
"He is not well.." her grandmother replied, her tone laced with worry.
Just then, the cab arrived, and Thea apologized, "Grandma, I have to go. The cab is here."
"Okay, dear. Be careful, and have a great time.." her grandmother said before hanging up.
After she settled into the cab, the driver, a middle-aged man, couldn’t help but stare at the young, beautiful lady. "Miss, you are so pretty.." he replied her with a smile.
Thea gave him a polite smile, and the driver, slightly embarrassed, focused on the road ahead. Thea began browsing through her phone, and a ding sound indicated an incoming message. It was from Charlotte.
"You are looking gorgeous, Darling" Charlotte wrote, accompanied by a string of admiring emojis. "If I were a man, I wouldn’t hesitate; I would surely marry you at this moment."
Thea laughed out loud as she read the message, and her eyes sparkled with amusement. She quickly initiated a voice call to Charlotte, who picked up immediately.
"Wow, girl, you’re looking absolutely stunning!" Charlotte exclaimed she was excited after seeing her best friend was looking breathtaking in that outfit..
Thea let out a playful laugh. "Charlotte, you’re making me blush! Stop with the compliments!"
