Chapter 2628: Chapter 1243: Deadly Game · Continuation (XIX) - The Road to Survival

Game Time AM03:57

Academy City, Central District, Comprehensive Library, Forbidden Area 3F, Impression Space

In a daze, Double Leaf, having lost her tall stature and ample bosom, suddenly opened her eyes, like a malnourished ghost resurrected from the soft velvet cushion, instinctively letting out a gasp.

Immediately, a familiar system notification sound calmly echoed in the girl’s ear:

[Blank Book 2: Path of Survival, Eccentric Creation task has been completed, reward obtained: Access to the seventh layer of the forbidden area. Due to a 103% completion rate, no extra rewards can be granted.]

"One hundred and three, huh..."

Double Leaf gently pushed up her glasses with her index finger and murmured, "If ’Escape the [Bloody Maiden Arena]’ and ’Not boarding the [Massacre Ship]’ together add up to exactly one hundred percent completion, did my solution only score three points above the standard answer? Hey—"

As she finished speaking, Double Leaf suddenly turned her head toward the Book Spirit, who had somehow appeared behind the desk beside her, glaring with arched brows.

"A very impressive performance."

The Book Spirit, who always appeared as an ’unremarkable middle-aged slightly portly man’, nodded slightly to Double Leaf and said in a calm tone, "Congratulations on completing the challenge, Lady Double Leaf. From now on, you can enter the mirrored seventh layer I’ve replicated."

The girl squinted her eyes, staring intensely at the Book Spirit for a moment before stiffly curling her lips, "Should I say thank you?"

"Of course, there’s no need, Lady. After all, this was a fair transaction. You—"

Saying this, the Book Spirit briefly cast his gaze toward Motan, who was still lying not far away, unconscious: "And Frank Hughes have shown me more possibilities. In return, I will offer you corresponding rewards. No one needs to say ’thank you’."

Double Leaf snorted softly, lazily standing up and began to stroll and stretch her body in the misty white space, asking leisurely, "So, is that guy Frank still alive?"

"Mr. Frank was never dead; of course, if you’re referring to his current role as ’Haru Kuttata’... Yes, he’s still alive."

The Book Spirit answered matter-of-factly, then after a short pause, added, "But in my view, there’s not much difference between your performances."

Double Leaf smiled, raising an eyebrow, "Oh, so although Frank is alive, he’s effectively dead?"

"It’s Frank’s role as ’Haru Kuttata’, but I do understand the meaning behind your words, Lady Double Leaf."

Although he seemed rather emotionless, the Book Spirit was not truly inflexible, understanding Mr. Zang Kejia’s notion with ease.

"Yeah, wasteland time, I get it."

Double Leaf shrugged and then slowly made her way around to the back of the Book Spirit, playfully massaging the shoulders of this seemingly plump man while grinning, "So, dear Book Spirit, would you mind streaming for me... I mean, letting me see what Frank is doing inside?"

As expected, the Book Spirit shook his head without hesitation, "I’m sorry, that’s not what we agreed upon earlier, so even though I’m capable, I can’t do that."

Double Leaf immediately withdrew her hand from the other’s shoulder, pouting, "How dull."

"Why not ask Mr. Frank after he comes out?"

The Book Spirit blandly asked.

"Of course, because I suspect he’s being dishonest."

Double Leaf gave a straightforward answer, quickly adding before the Book Spirit could respond, "Not to mention, even if you, always with the ’God’s Eye View’, stood witness for him, I’d still suspect that neither of you is being truthful without seeing it with my own eyes."

The Book Spirit gave no reaction, offering no comment.

"Don’t mind me, I’m always smart, lively, and cute."

Double Leaf circled back to the front of the Book Spirit, making a face at him, "So, like last time, are you willing to tell this pretty little girl, how many points did I and the already finished Frank get, if attaining the historical conditions could get up to 100 points, and the full score is 200 points?"

"Miss Futaba, I believe you might have scored a little over one hundred points since the Maeve Xiangluan in the story wasn’t as clear-headed as you."

The Book Spirit responded fluently, then added, "As for Mr. Frank Hughes, he likely scored around the same."

Double Leaf chuckled softly, grinning, "That’s a relief. If he did better than me again, I’d go nuts. By the way, mind if I ask another question?"

"It depends on the situation, Lady Double Leaf."

The Book Spirit showed a faint smile and said softly, "I’ve already answered many of your questions, haven’t I?"

"Yeah, you’re quite agreeable."

Double Leaf casually replied, then earnestly asked, "What I want to know is, why didn’t you let Frank board the ship called [Massacre Ship]?"

The Book Spirit remained silent for a while and didn’t directly answer Double Leaf’s question, instead asking, "Can I interpret this as meaning that the ’mission’ assigned to you, Miss Futaba, the Otherworlder, also had the same restriction?"
