Chapter 2577: Chapter 1217: No-Holds-Barred Duel: Awakening Dragon (III)
In fact, he’s simply terrifyingly strong!
[Angry Red Lotus · Hundred Splinter Stars]
Useless!
Before the blade light could burst out from the sword’s edge, three mighty punches with almost no interval fiercely struck the hilt of Dawn, forcing back Motan’s ready-to-launch skill.
[Crescent Moon Flash·Complete Cut]
Useless!
Although barely evading the fourth [Rushing Punch] aimed straight at his face with Waning Moon, Motan’s attack path was interrupted by Awakening Dragon’s [Inch Strength] the moment he drew his sword. Despite managing to slash out successfully, the moon wheel had veered way up into the sky, posing no threat whatsoever.
[Spine Thrust]
Had little effect!
In its one-handed sword form, Dawn’s length and weight made it difficult to bring this skill to full potential. Even with a slight speed boost, it was countered by Awakening Dragon’s later but faster [Collapse Fist], only inflicting minor damage while allowing the latter to seize the opportunity and hit Motan with a round of simple yet significantly damaging chain kicks, ending with a heavy [Strong Dragon Suppression] stomp that pinned him to the ground.
Embarrassed!
Even though Motan had been immersed in The Realm of Innocence for over half a year and seen his fair share of battles, the only other time he had been in such a sorry state was during his struggle against two operatives from the Viper Chamber of Commerce on the Caselo Prairie.
Despite both being Monk System professions, Awakening Dragon’s oppressive presence far surpassed Epic-tier Sergei, even though he hadn’t yet reached Epic status and was weaponless.
This pressure wasn’t about sheer strength alone; it lay in Awakening Dragon’s absolute control over the battle situation.
In simple terms, Awakening Dragon always did the right thing at the right time.
It sounds simple, but implementing it consistently is incredibly challenging.
Bear in mind, Awakening Dragon had virtually no information on the attributes, skills, talents, or equipment effects of the character ’Mor,’ yet he almost successfully interrupted all of Motan’s attacks that could cause significant harm or disrupt movement, aggressively accumulating advantage at an incredible pace.
Though not immune to injury, Motan did manage to harm Awakening Dragon several times during the exchange, but these damages were quickly recouped.
Even if Motan occasionally gained a slight edge, looking purely at data, Awakening Dragon definitely didn’t lose out.
What was most despairing was not only did Awakening Dragon maintain about half a meter distance from Motan, but he refrained from using any advanced skills. Whether it was [Dragon Cannon], [Reinforced Iron Bones], [Collapse Fist], or [Rushing Punch], all were standard skills that even middle-rank Martial Monks like Saracha could master.
Combining normal attacks with middle to low rank skills without a weapon, Awakening Dragon managed to suppress the Reverse Scale state Motan, something even professional gamers might find challenging.
Yet, Awakening Dragon achieved it, and did so effortlessly.
His attacks flowed seamlessly, with precise targets; mechanically meticulous yet effortlessly graceful. Each seemingly simple punch and kick landed at Motan’s most uncomfortable spots, yet whenever the latter purposely exposed a flaw, it was immediately exploited or countered.
Once, a thief with the game ID Alramis in The Realm of Innocence used rich PVP experience from other games to tightly suppress a talented NPC named ’Mo’ whose skills were on par.
Awakening Dragon’s PVP experience surpassed Alramis by at least one level. Although he once suffered a setback at the latter’s hands, everyone has their moments; it’s hard to escape a meticulously planned powerful assassin when one’s caught during a stomach cramp.
But today Awakening Dragon wasn’t troubled by such issues; while not performing at peak ’super-level,’ his performance remained normal.
After Six minutes and seventeen seconds, as Awakening Dragon blasted Motan to the arena’s edge with a single [Rotational Qi Explosion], the latter’s Health Points and Physical Strength Value both fell below 10%. Meanwhile, Awakening Dragon, who hadn’t used full force, retained 91% Health Points, and Physical Strength Value remained over 95%, thanks to the passive skill [Steel Soul].
Awakening Dragon’s evaluation of Motan wasn’t skewed due to this one-sided battle.
In his view, Motan’s displayed strength, including consciousness, judgment, and reaction ability, was definitely of professional level, at least within The Realm of Innocence, not inferior to most professional players.
Finding such a clearly non-professional yet very capable opponent was a pleasant surprise for Awakening Dragon.
An interesting opponent, with apparently a decent personality.
This was Awakening Dragon’s first impression of Motan.
Basing on this impression, a whimsically motivated Awakening Dragon suddenly paused his attack, then walked up to Motan and extended a hand to help the latter stand, who due to insufficient Physical Strength Value, struggled to rise immediately.
"Thanks."
Motan smiled bitterly, shook his head, and said: "I concede..."
Just as the words left his mouth, Motan suddenly paused, a fleeting clarity crossing his eyes.
Almost simultaneously, Awakening Dragon started, "Would you be interested in becoming a professional gamer, my friend?"
"Ah?"
Motan was dumbfounded, taking a while to respond, "Professional gamer?"
"Uh..."
Awakening Dragon awkwardly scratched his cheek and said, somewhat embarrassed, "Honestly, just a spur-of-the-moment thought, but... uh, I have some leverage in the club, and we’re pretty short-handed in high-end personnel for The Realm of Innocence, so... yeah... you get it?"
"Hmm, I get it."
Motan smiled, then promptly replied, "Thanks, but sorry."
"Haha, no worries, no worries. I was just saying."
Awakening Dragon also smiled, without much disappointment: "So... shall we call it a day?"
Evidently, he hadn’t missed Motan’s earlier phrase and felt there was no need to continue.
After all, the skill gap between them was too evident; just speaking of equipment, that Unique Epic chest armor named [Glory of the Wandering Tracker] on Awakening Dragon provided enough defensive power almost equal to Motan’s full heavy armor set, which was Awakening Dragon’s secondary gear.
This battle, logically, could end here.
But—
"Uh... actually..."
Motan sheepishly smiled, then took a deep breath and said seriously: "I’d like to struggle a bit more."
"But your current condition..."
Awakening Dragon instinctively began to reply, then abruptly stopped, stepping back two paces: "Alright."
"Thank you."
Motan smiled, slightly exaggeratedly giving Awakening Dragon a knight’s salute.
Immediately—
With a deafening thunderclap, massive dark purple dragon wings suddenly unfurl behind Motan. At the same time, a thirty-centimeter-long half-moon Dragon Horn emerged from his forehead, previously covered by only a few scales.
Moreover, a semi-transparent dark purple horny layer abruptly closed around his face from both cheeks, masking his somewhat handsome features, exposing only his thunderous vertical pupils.
A talent seen once briefly in battle on Caselo, not fully unleashed by Motan for months—[Reverse Scale]
Returns with a fierce visage!
