Chapter 2204: Chapter 1036: Wang Bug

"Ugh!"

Ya Ya waved her little hand anxiously and then carefully picked up half of the insect carcass from Motan’s palm, speaking slowly: "Woof... uh, I don’t have an accent! This bug is called the Woof bug!"

Motan first looked puzzled, then suddenly realized: "It’s called a Woof bug?!"

"Yes, yes!"

The girl nodded vigorously, emphasizing ’it’s called a Woof bug!’, then squatted down on the spot, staring intently at the half carcass, which was split in half by Motan but did not bleed or leak any body fluid, her small nose twitching incessantly.

"Woof bug... what species is it exactly? Could it just sound similar and actually be called a Wang bug or a Wang bug?"

Motan murmured to himself, slightly baffled, before lowering his head again to look at the half of the insect in his palm. After a few seconds of looking at the carcass, he successfully activated the item panel of this thing!

...

"Phew, I didn’t expect this thing to be really called a Woof bug, it doesn’t look like a dog at all..."

Motan carefully observed the half of the insect, thinking although it’s clearly an insect at first glance, its body structure is not complex, and it could even be mistaken for a mini craftwork, which really doesn’t match the seemingly lively name ’Woof bug’.

But this thought merely flashed through his mind for a moment, then was replaced by a rather unsettling feeling.

[Being watched...]

Silently tucking away the fragment of the Woof bug into his pouch, Motan sighed with a somewhat gloomy expression, subconsciously recalling his experience earlier today in the room of the Shady Inn.

Although unlike Ya Ya, he didn’t have the feeling of being observed by something, Motan still relied on his keen senses to discover that black beetle exuding a faint sulfur smell and eliminated it at once.

No need to confirm, a bug wouldn’t spontaneously combust due to energy turmoil after losing life; based on what relatively knowledgeable Motan knows, this usually only happens to magic energy beings summoned by magicians from different dimensions.

And judging by the structure of the Green Inn and Motan’s room location, there’s almost no chance of an insect appearing on the window ledge inside unless done intentionally.

Of course, ’almost no chance’ doesn’t mean ’impossible,’ so even though Motan faintly realized he or his group was probably being watched by someone in the shadows, he did not become overly nervous. Although it’s extremely low, there’s also a non-zero chance this bug accidentally fell from some other dimension into the real world and appeared on his window ledge due to all sorts of coincidences.

Therefore, he just kept this vigilance in mind without taking any substantial action, as there were just too many things during this period that needed his attention.

But now, it’s not just himself, even Ya Ya has been targeted!

[Must take action!]

Compared to himself, Motan, often more concerned about others under current personality, made a firm decision instantly. He then walked quickly to stand beside Ya Ya, gently patting her slender shoulder: "Ya Ya."

"Hmm... hmmm... huh?"

For some reason, Ya Ya, who would normally react almost immediately, didn’t come to herself until Motan patted her a second time. She then turned semi-groggily to look at that angular, rather gallant face adorned with scales, blinking curiously: "What... what, woof?"

Motan pointed to the half carcass in the girl’s palm, which remained very calm emotionally, and asked in a low voice: "Do you know anything about this ’Woof bug’?"

Ya Ya was stunned for a moment: "Woof bug..."

"Yes, I’ve just confirmed through some not easy-to-explain means that it’s indeed called Woof bug, and it’s not a normal creature, but an artificially created alchemical being."

Motan nodded slightly, asking quite seriously, "So besides the name, do you know any other information about it, like where it’s commonly seen or specifically what it’s used for?"

"Woof?"

Ya Ya scratched her hair, shaking her head in confusion: "Woof doesn’t know!"

"Don’t know..."

Motan lightly sighed. Although he initially didn’t expect much from Ya Ya, a ’country girl’ with a fairly scattered personality, to know much about such seemingly advanced alchemical constructs, he still held onto a shred of hope, as the girl at least managed to name it.

But on second thought, even if Ya Ya hadn’t seen much of the world, she’s a native born and raised in The Realm of Innocence, and his mere six months of game time, even if multiplied tenfold, wouldn’t compare to hers. Gaps in knowledge or common sense are only natural.

"I thought you’d know more about this since you called out its name so easily earlier."
