Chapter 93: Chpter 93

Adonis had spent hours into the night trying to craft a proper letter that wouldn’t scare off Theodore. If there was anyone who could help him now, it was him.

When morning came, he’d rushed over to Astrid’s room and Knocked. Yhe door creaked open after a while.

"Hey," a sleepy Astrid replied.

"You haven’t gotten ready yet?"

"No," she said and yawned. "Its still so early."

He placed a hand on the wall near the door frame, "i know, but you need to leave now."

Astrid struggled to keep her eyes open and groaned. "Fine. Give me a few minutes."

"You’re just going to go back to bed, Astrid. I’ll wait out here for you."

Astrid scratched her head then rested on the frame. "I promise," she slurred. "I’ll find you when you’re done."

"Nope."

Astrid peered at Adonis through sleep-laden eyes and kissed her teeth then closed the door.

Her movement were slow as she rubbed herself clean and put on some clean clothes.

"Hera," Astrid called as she fixed her clothes but there was no reply. Hera sprawled diagonally on the bed, deep in sleep. Astrid went beside her and shook her awake. "Hera, I’m leaving. I’ll be back soon."

Hera groaned then grimaced, her eyes still closed as she shifted on the bed. "Where are you heading off to so early in the morning."

"I have some business to attend to in town. I’ll see you later."

Hera turned her head to the left, "alright. See you later."

Astrid left the room to find Adonis still standing outside, waiting for her. She lifted both brows and stared at him. "You’re still here?"

His back was against the walk and his hands folded. When he saw the door open, he pushed himself away from the wall to look at her. He pointed the letter towards her. "I said i would."

"I don’t understand how this is all so very important that it couldn’t wait till the middle of the day, or at least when the everyone had woken up."

"We’ve been over this, it’s urgent."

"Not as urgent as my sleep," she mumbled.

He began walking and she followed behind him, "if you don’t find him at his mansions, it very hard to miss, you’ll probably find him in the sun Arena," he said as they descended down the stairs.

When they had finally reached the buttom, she turned towards him, "what’s this really about? You might as well tell me now, since we’re going to be married anyway."

Adonis smirked and bent to meet her eyes, "let’s get married first and then I’ll tell you all my secrets."

Astrid’s face formed into a grimace as she took a few steps back. "You know what, I’m not interested. I judt want Iris freed. You can do whatever yoh like."

Adonis’s curled into a sly smile. "Off you go." He watched her leave and headed back to his room. He need to prepare for council meeting. The more he thought of the things he had planned, the more he grew anxious.

The meeting began a few hours later after its members trickled into the palace with their usual unsmiling faces.

Adonis the room with his father, and octavia, who had become suspiciously quiet since the last time they’d met was also standing at the far left corner of the room.

The meeting progressed as usual, and they spoke on the topics of the day. There was the usual arguing, grunts of agreement and chattering, but eventually, the meeting was about to come to an end.

"To the great mem of this council," Adonis voice boomed and the room went quiet. "I would like to make an announcement. He could feelnthe stares, even Octavia’s glare which could burrow right through his skull.

He cleared his throat and glanced at his father who had a puzzled expression on his face. "I have found the woman i wish to marry," he said and paused, then around the room.

A few eyes bulged while a few others raised an eyebrow at his new foray. They didn’t take him seriously enough.

"Her name is Astrid, and she is from the kingdom of Epirus. She is not among the contest for the competition but she Is my choice."
