Chapter 62: Arrangements For What?
"I don’t want to deal with this right now. So follow."
I crossed my arms. "Is that so? I don’t see where it’s written that I’m obligated to follow your ass anywhere."
"I suggest you stop acting like a spoiled brat..." She walked close, and I stood my ground.
If she wants to throw hands, then I’m game. I’ve been meaning to scratch those eyes off.
"You don’t wanna disobey Zade’s orders."
Zade’s orders?
When she caught my curiosity, she smiled.
"As you know, I’m tasked with making the arrangements. And I intend to do my best. Which means no mistakes, so if you’re gonna create one for me, I swear to God—"
"Arrangements for what?" I cut her off, not ready for her spitting nonsense.
She sighed deeply as if mulling over her choices. I bet she’s thinking of ripping my head off.
That makes two of us.
"Nothing that concerns you at the moment."
Typical.
"And you expect me to... follow you? For all I know, this could be one of your tricks."
"Because it’s not, and I don’t have fucking time for this."
I hesitated. It seems like she was telling the truth, and her impatience showed because of how she kept checking her watch.
Lisa’s phone rang, and when she checked, her expression changed.
She picked.
"Don..."
My eyelid twitched at the sound of the sudden, sweetened voice.
"Yes, everything is going well." She looked at me. "Yes."
The call ended.
"Now, where were we? Oh, I know... the part where I’m here under Zade’s orders."
Hag.

Lisa pushed the door open, leading into a room.
"Yes, this is good, very good."
Wait, is that...!
She faced us. Oh, it’s her, alright.
"Mon Dieu! I say married life pleases you, Mrs. Salvero." She giggled.
Juliette Rousseau, the same woman who dolled me up for my wedding.
"You..."
"You?" She laughed. "I thought we were acquainted."
"Sure. So tell me, do I have no choice but to cooperate?"
"Oh, mademoiselle... I don’t know the full story, but I was simply doing my job beside..." She waved her hands dramatically. "This is the best of all."
I finally took notice of how the entire space has been transformed into a dress house. Her team set up the makeup palettes, curling irons, jewelry tray, and rows of expensive products.
Oddly familiar to my so-called wedding day.
"We brought everything. We have so much work to do." Juliette circled me like I was her new specimen. "We just have to make you ravenous."
"Ravenous for what?" I asked.
Her eyes snapped to Lisa. "Sérieusement? Did you not tell her?"
With a stern expression, Lisa walked out.
"That one is a bad egg..." Juliette pointed out.
You tell me.
"So as I was saying... ravenous for the opera."
"Opera?"
"Oui! Tonight... hence why you must look outstanding, the couple of the century making their official appearance to their most loved public. It’s anticipated. It is a must that we give them a show, something to talk about, something to scream... excellence!"
She sighed as in thought before looking to her girls. "Espérons qu’elle ne réduise pas à néant tous nos efforts."
[Let’s hope she doesn’t ruin all our efforts.]
They laughed.
"C’est amusant, vu que vous êtes ici pour affaires. Modérez votre ton."
[Funny, considering you’re the one here on business. Best mind your tone.]
Juliette whipped her head back to me in shock. "That..."
"My tutors would be offended if I didn’t represent them well. Comprendre?"
She swallowed back whatever words she wanted to say. "We’re off on the wrong foot. Truce?"
"Whatever."
"How about I lift your spirits?" She snapped her fingers, and a clothing rack was wheeled forward, holding a signal attire.
"You’re wearing Maxine..." She slowly unzipped the garment bag. "Just released."
I gasped, coming close just to be sure, and it was Maxine!
"I just saw this on her page two days ago!"
"I was told this was made just for you."
My cheeks ran hot. "Y-You mean Maxine designed this just for me?"
"Oui."
~☆~
I couldn’t shake the excitement at the thought of trying on that dress. I was practically beaming as I walked back to my room to shower before I surrendered myself to Juliette. I can’t tell who is more excited, me or her.
She may be a little... You know... but she does have some likeable traits.
I opened my door and closed it behind me, stopping mid-step when I smelled smoke.
My eyes moved at speed, but my room was empty. As if I knew just exactly where he was, I moved toward my closet, and the moment I stepped in, I froze in place.
Heat rushed to my cheeks when I saw Zade eyeing the sex toys I had bought, arranged against the island as if he had taken his time to do so.
"Interesting new collections..."
My breath hitched when he veered his eyes to me.
"Having fun without me, kitten?"
I cleared my throat, shrugging. "Did no one ever teach you about privacy?"
"Come on now, darling, that’s not the topic of the day." He walked, and when he got within arm’s reach, I backed away, yet he matched every step I took until I felt the cold surface of the wall behind me.
"You got all that to cum." His hollowed gaze held me with an intensity that made my body tremble. "Why? Couldn’t you do it yourself?"
I gave him the most arrogant expression I could conjure. "You’re mistaken, husband."
He raised an eyebrow.
"Right after you left me in that pool... I gave myself the most gratifying, mind-blowing orgasm ever."
"Liar."
"You don’t know—"
Zade placed a finger on his lips. He stepped back, walking toward the island.
"Should I be concerned or excited?" He rested his hands against the island, a wicked smirk plastered on his lips. "Considering half of the things here require a partner."
My heart skipped a beat.
"I didn’t realize my little kitten could be so thoughtful."
