Chapter 133: Do You Wanna Play, Little Kitten?

The most irresistible smile I have ever seen crossed his lips, and my heart fluttered at the sight of it.

"Then do as I say. Make him think he can trust you."

Hold on.

"Zade?"

"Yes, darling?"

I slapped him across the cheek before I pushed him away to get on my feet.

Zade chuckled. "You make this too entertaining." He rubbed that sharpened jawline of his and pinned me with a dark glint that meant no good. "I hope when the time comes, you’ll be responsible for your actions."

"I see where this is going," I said, pushing aside the sweet shiver taking over my body by his words.

"Why don’t you tell me then?"

"Is this a game?" I asked in frustration.

"Depends on whether you’re interested in playing." He picked up the flash drive from the floor and raised it for me to see. "Shane wants this, and he’s gonna get it."

Why would Zade willingly want to give Shane the one thing that can be used to destroy him? Unless...!

Zade’s grin grew wider when he noted my expression. With wide eyes, I looked at the unconscious Andy and then back at him.

"You wanted Andy here, didn’t you? This was your plan."

"He was an expendable fool. A needed fool."

I shivered. "This is a trap for Shane."

"Not a successful one, at least not yet."

"You want me to keep working for Shane?" I asked in disbelief.

"I want him to think you’re still working for him."

"That son of bitch threatened to decapitate me!"

"Remember what I said about him in the Night Chamber?" His gaze held mine. "While you were draped across my lap. Come on, kitten. Search that pretty brain of yours."

My cheeks ran hot, burning through my skin as the images played like a record. I recalled how embarrassed I was on his lap while he discussed with his brothers, and fucking squeezing my ass like a stress ball.

"Naughty girl," he teased as though he knew where my train of thought was centered. "Focus."

I licked my lips. "You said Shane was a spineless bastard."

"One whose methods are always done out of haste. He threatened you because he knew he could. He wouldn’t dare do otherwise."

"H-How can you be so sure?"

"Because, darling. David Shane is more of a businessman than a man of the undercity."

"Are you saying he’s not affiliated with the undercity?" I asked, thinking of how much Shane knew about the rumors between Annabeth and Zade.

"He does have connections, but that’s about it. He’s no man of the undercity, just someone who thinks he can play adult games."

Then the pictures he showed me. They were fake?

"Anastasia."

I locked eyes with him.

"Tell me what’s on your mind."

What’s on my mind? I had plenty, and the starting point was lost to me. I had locked them for the last few days for my own sanity because the more I thought about them, the more it felt like I was being torn apart.

I’m not ready to get back at that hole, especially when I have nothing concrete to aid it.

"Do this, and I’ll answer your questions. I know we’ve been down this road before, but this time I don’t want you to hold back from me."

Maybe you’re the one holding out on me.

I meant to say that out loud, but it just sorta got repressed.

I grew anxious and chose to look at Andy rather than Zade. I heard his footsteps, then his hand beneath my chin, tilting so that my attention was back on him

"You’re gonna be a good girl and finish Shane’s mission."

"How am I gonna explain that...?" I pointed to Andy. "He’s out cold, and trust me, I didn’t give him a drink."

"Tell Shane the truth."

"How’s that—"

"I wouldn’t have asked this of you if you can’t handle it."

I paused, allowing his words to sink in. He sounded very certain.

"What makes you think I can handle it?" I asked softly.

"Baby, you have no idea." He leaned down toward me, and in return, I tilted my head up, his breath ghosting across my face like a scorching flame.

"You said you want to trust me," he murmured, stroking my cheek. "This is one way to start, kitten."

I shuddered as his voice dropped, unleashing that deep baritone that got me weak in the knees and also made my pussy weep.

The last thing I wanted to do right now was focus on what’s between my legs and not get it together, but I knew saying that to someone like me was like talking to a teenager who had already set her mind on something.

"This is bad timing..."

"How so?" His nose brushed against mine.

"T-Tossing me at the line of fire. How on earth would I consider trusting you?"

A quiet laugh escaped him, the deep thunder vibrating through his chest and straight into me.

"Fair point. But we’ve been down this road before, kitten. Only this time you know the game."

I gasped when he pulled closer until I was basically hanging on my tiptoes. My body pressed against his, and my brain was altered by the hard planes squeezing into the softness of my skin.

How could something so opposite blend so well?

"The question is... Do you wanna play, little kitten?"

Oh... God.

His lips crashed into mine. No, crashed was a fucking understatement. He kissed me like he was meant to consume me whole. It screamed hunger beyond recognition.

I braced my hands on his shoulders as he added more density to our kiss, my body angling backwards as he took it upon himself to steal my soul away with every drive of his mouth against mine.

A deep moan broke from my throat, and suddenly, everything else didn’t even matter or where we were. The world faded away until there was nothing left but him.
