Chapter 191: Chapter 190: I Won’t Go to the Dirty Feast
Phoebe Walker looked at Nia Mitchell with pride. The feeling of tearing someone down from their very soul was truly satisfying.
Nia Mitchell bit her lip. Forget it; no banquet could possibly be worthy of Uncle Peary’s status.
Hmph!
"Whether or not he goes is his own business."
To Phoebe Walker, Nia Mitchell’s words sounded like pure helplessness.
She shook her head and slowly walked up to Nia Mitchell.
"You don’t want him to go, do you? Because at my birthday party, there will be plenty of rich men there for you to seduce."
Her voice was low, but most of the people in the Secretary Department heard her loud and clear.
In the Secretary Department, most of them came from ordinary families. Even if some were considered wealthy, it was only wealth by ordinary standards.
Undoubtedly, some among them were hoping to make an impression at the party.
Who doesn’t want to marry into a wealthy family?
Nia Mitchell looked up at Phoebe Walker, wondering why some people could be so twisted.
"I’m already married, and my husband and I are doing great."
No one could match Maxwell Peary’s wealth.
If she were that kind of vain gold-digger, she should be focused on holding onto Maxwell Peary and devoting herself entirely to him.
"Nia, let me give you some friendly advice: if you truly harbor such filthy intentions, you’d better cover up all those kiss marks."
Phoebe Walker had only glimpsed a few marks on Nia Mitchell’s chest, but she was sure Nia must have them all over her body.
The mention of kiss marks made Nia Mitchell’s face turn red again. It seemed the people in the Secretary Department wouldn’t forget about this anytime soon.
"Only filthy minds see filth in others."
Nia Mitchell stood up instantly, her face filled with anger.
"Also, I’m not going to your birthday party. I refuse to attend the party of a filthy person."
She and Phoebe Walker didn’t get along at all, so why should she attend Phoebe’s birthday celebration? This was utterly absurd.
Phoebe Walker clenched her teeth. Damn it, what an ungrateful brat!
"I sent you an invitation; I sincerely invited you. How could you not come?"
She had never imagined Nia Mitchell would say such a thing.
"You’re a strange one. Just because you invited me, does that mean I have to go? You invited Maxwell too. Why don’t you try to force him when he refuses to go?"
Phoebe Walker widened her eyes, her face filled with disbelief.
"You’re actually comparing yourself to Maxwell?"
What she really wanted to ask was how Nia knew she had invited Maxwell and that he had bluntly declined.
Could it be that Alan, the Special Assistant, had leaked this information to Nia Mitchell?
But that couldn’t be right. How could Maxwell possibly tell Alan Morgan about such trivial matters?
So, had Nia Mitchell figured it out herself?
"Why can’t I compare myself with Maxwell? We’re all human; we’re all equal."
Nia Mitchell held her head high, glaring angrily at Phoebe Walker.
She wouldn’t go. That way, she could save time and spend more of it with Uncle Peary.
Why should she waste her time making herself miserable?
She wasn’t an idiot!
Now, it wasn’t just Phoebe Walker who found Nia Mitchell ridiculous; the entire Secretary Department thought Nia was being naive.
She was indeed too young, daring to compare herself with the Company’s boss.
Didn’t she know that Maxwell was the one standing at the top? Unreachable by anyone.
