Chapter 1120: Chapter 1119: Glad You Weren’t Affected

I don’t believe it.

Without saying anything more, Nia Mitchell just sat there playing on her phone. Around nine o’clock, Maxwell Peary called.

"Why aren’t you at home?"

After being busy almost the whole day, Maxwell’s head was buzzing. When he drove back home, he discovered that little Rabina wasn’t there.

This kind of situation—her not being at home—was obviously not a good sign.

Maxwell sat on the edge of the big bed and reached up to rub his temples.

On the bed, the little rabbit plush that Nia liked was still there.

"I’m at Evelyn Peary’s place. I was just about to head back. Uncle, you’re home?"

Since he knew she wasn’t home, that clearly meant he was already back.

"Yeah, I’ll come pick you up now. Stay there a bit longer."

Maxwell nodded and immediately started reminding her of a few things.

Nia looked puzzled, but she still had a smile on her face.

"No need, Evelyn is coming over later anyway. I can just take Evelyn’s car."

There was a free ride, so of course there was no need for the CEO to come pick her up.

Only, Maxwell completely ignored her.

"It’s settled then. I’m heading over now."

He stood up in one swift motion. Ignoring his own exhaustion, he grabbed the car keys and walked out of the Main Bedroom.

His jacket was still in the Living Room. He simply grabbed it and put it on. It was still windy at night, and no matter the situation, he had to take good care of himself.

"Young master, where are you going?"

Frederick Goldsmith was just busying himself with dinner. He hadn’t expected that just when dinner was almost ready, he’d see Maxwell about to head out.

"I’m going to pick up the young madam."

To pick up the young madam?

He had already heard the driver say that the young madam had gone to Madgar Pavilion, so was the young master going there?

But Miss will be coming over later too. The young madam could just come along in Miss’s car.

He really couldn’t figure out what was going on. A CEO this sharp couldn’t possibly have overlooked that.

Maxwell’s driving skills were excellent, and it was nighttime, so this stretch of road wasn’t that congested. Very quickly, he arrived at Madgar Pavilion.

When Maxwell came over, Nia was just drinking a bowl of sweet soup.

Well, because she had been waiting here for the CEO earlier and got bored, Evelyn had made her a sweet soup.

She’d heard that this sweet soup wouldn’t make you gain weight and everything in it was very healthy.

Anyway, she didn’t really understand the logic behind it—things like beauty and whitening and all that, she had no idea.

She only needed to know one thing, which was that Evelyn wouldn’t lie to her.

"Uncle?"

Nia’s face lit up with joy when she saw Maxwell.

"Mm."

Maxwell walked over and saw her drinking sweet soup.

"Haven’t finished yet?"

Maxwell was a little curious.

"No, it’s not that. I’m just killing time here."

Having a drink to kill time—totally normal, okay?

"So are we leaving now, or do you want to finish it first?"

Maxwell reached out and ruffled her hair, smiling as he asked.

"Let’s go now."

Nia put down the spoon in her hand and smiled as she took the CEO’s hand.

Maxwell was a little surprised by little Rabina’s initiative, but it was only for a split second.

The two of them completely forgot to go say goodbye to Evelyn and just left like that.

In the car—

Nia sat there with a constant smile on her face.

Seeing her like this, Maxwell’s mood instantly got much better.

"I’m really glad you weren’t affected by what happened today."

That meant little Rabina trusted him a lot.
