Chapter 261: You Can Do It Well
When Christopher was around, as long as there were bones in the dishes, he would always remove the bones carefully for her. He had taken very good care of her, and now, when he was not there, she was like a baby who had lost her ability to take care of herself, and she was very bad at everything she did. Janice looked at the dishes with bones in front of her, and finally put down her fork angrily, "I’m not eating."
She lay down on the table with anger, and suddenly felt so wronged. The consequence of having a considerate husband was that she had suddenly become a baby who couldn’t take care of herself. Oh, she wanted to cry. What should she do? Janice suddenly felt depressed. "Madam, why don’t you eat? Don’t you like it?" Nanny Daisy asked quickly when she saw it.
Janice paused, then raised her head and said, "No, I just suddenly lost my appetite." Nanny Daisy didn’t know what to do. A pregnant woman was moody, and she knew it. But Madam was now the treasure of the entire Allson family. Both Mr. Allson and Miss Allson adored her very much. If she was hungry, what should she do? Nanny Daisy was a little anxious for a while.
"Madam, eat as much as you can. It’s not good to be hungry when you are pregnant." Nanny Daisy stepped forward to wait on her. Janice was a little embarrassed when she saw it. She had never regarded Nanny Daisy as a servant. She only regarded her as an amiable elder. How could she let her wait on her?
So she quickly stopped her, "Nanny Daisy, I’m fine, I’m just a little boring. Why don’t get some ice cubes outside for me?" Nanny Daisy breathed a sigh of relief when she said that and turned around to get the ice cubes. After Nanny Daisy went out, Janice was back on the table in an instant. When Christopher arrived, he was terrified to see her lying listlessly on the table. "What’s the matter with you? Are you not feeling well?" He hurried in.
Janice had been lifeless, but after hearing his voice, she sat up straight, and her eyes lit up when she saw Christopher standing in front of her. "Why are you here?"
Christopher was holding ice cubes in his hand, and Nanny Daisy had told him about it when he met her outside. "I was worried about you. What’s the matter?"
Without Nanny Daisy present, Janice didn’t need to lie, and said, "I don’t want to eat fish. It has too many bones, and it’s so troublesome." Hearing her complaint, Christopher couldn’t help but chuckle. It was why she was upset. He had thought something went wrong. He moved the chair over and sat down beside her, "I’ll remove the bones for you."
As he spoke, he picked up the fork and carefully removed the fishbones. Janice sat aside, admiring his serious look at picking the fishbone, and her mood instantly improved. Christopher looked up and met her big shiny eyes, and asked suspiciously, "What are you looking at? Is there something on my face?"
Janice shook her head. Christopher fed her a bite of the boneless fish. Janice couldn’t help sighing as she ate it. Christopher was so good at it, and there were no bones at all.
She couldn’t help but praise him, "Honey, I’ve found that you are so good at doing these things, but how can you remove this fishbone so quickly and accurately?" She was curious. Christopher smiled knowingly, "As long as you put your mind to it, you can do it well." With that, he gave her another bite of fish.
...
"You can achieve anything if you are in earnest." Christopher told her.
Janice thought for a moment and agreed with him.
However, she had no patience at all, so she couldn’t even remove the fishbones.
Recently, she had been thinking that Christopher was such a considerate person that he would definitely become a good father after their baby was born.
On the contrary, she was careless in everything, and she couldn’t even take care of herself.
"What if I can’t look after the baby well after it is born?" Thinking of this, Janice was a little pensive.
Noticing that she was in distress, Christopher frowned and asked, "What’s wrong?"
After a brief pondering, Janice suggested, "Why don’t we go to the bookstore after work? I want to buy some parenting books to study."
This was probably the only remedy she could think of.
However, Christopher frowned and disagreed, "You go to work every day and you have no time to read those books."
"But if I don’t read these books, what if I can’t be a good mother in the future?" Janice said.
She didn’t want the baby to think that she was a shiftless mother.
Hearing her words, Christopher put down his chopsticks and said, "You forgot that I’m here too."
"But you are you, and I am me. The father and mother have different work to do when raising children." Janice said.
However, Christopher couldn’t help but tapped her forehead gently and said reproachfully, "The baby belongs to the two of us, and there’s no need to distinguish so clearly between you and me."
"They all say that we should perform our own duties. What’s more, Dad and Mom play different roles in nurturing children." Janice still didn’t understand.
Christopher patiently answered her, "No matter what role you play, you just have to remember that parents are not puppets for the child. Those things can be done by nanny and professional nursery teacher. What we need to do is to give enough love to the child, and we should give it emotionally from the heart. If there are something difficult for you to do, you still have me. In a word, raising the child is our common responsibility. You don’t need to learn it on purpose."
Christopher’s words comforted Janice a lot.
She agreed with what Christopher had said. What parents have to do is to give their children enough love and emotional dedication from the heart.
Other things were just icing on the cake. Maybe she really didn’t have to worry, and she could learn step-by-step.
With that thought, she felt more open-minded and said, "Then I won’t buy those books, but the parenting class is still required. I have asked my colleagues who have children, they all have taken parenting class before giving birth."
Christopher did not object to her. "If you want to attend the class, we can apply for one. However, the precondition is that you will not tire yourself too much."
Janice nodded and replied, "I won’t."
Christopher didn’t say anything more and picked up his chopsticks again.
That afternoon, he asked Rob to sign up for a parenting class.
Before that, he deliberately did some research.
He advisedly selected a childcare institution with easy class content and short class time.
After Rob enrolled in the parenting class for them, he informed Janice of this news.
When Janice heard this, she was so happy that she immediately held his face and gave a kiss on his lips.
"Honey, it’s so great to have you by my side." She said.
Feeling her excitement, Christopher could not help chuckling.
"Then do you still need me to take care of you?" He asked.
"I do," Janice replied without hesitation. "You have to follow me wherever I go."
While she was talking, she took his arm very clingingly and nudged it in his embrace.
...
Christopher could not refrain from smiling dotingly.
"By the way, Yvonne may already be in Tomaville. Wait for a moment, I’ll call her." She said, stood up and walked to the window, then dialed to Yvonne.
The other end of the line was connected soon.
"Yvonne, Do you arrive here? Sorry, I forgot to call you." Janice said.
On the other end of the line, Yvonne frowned and said, "You have a baby and a husband now. It’s amazing that you still remember me." She said in a reproachful tone.
Janice felt even more guilty when she heard this.
"Yvon, don’t be angry. I was too busy. How about I invite you to dinner tonight? As an apology to you, okay?" Janice said.
Feeling her seriousness, Yvonne couldn’t help laughing. "Come on, I’m kidding. But I can’t have dinner with you, I have to go home."
"All right. We can make an appointment when you’re free." Janice said.
"Okay." When Yvonne hung up the phone, she had already stood in front of the gate of the White’s villa.
She stopped there for a while, looking at the tall iron gate before her. After taking a deep breath, she walked inside.
"Miss White, you are back." The butler Yancy hurried to greet her when he saw her.
"Uncle Yancy, where’s my dad?" Yvonne asked.
"Mr. White is in the study room. I’ll inform him." Yancy turned around and was about to go upstairs.
However, Yvonne stopped him. "No, I’ll go up by myself."
Hearing what she said, Yancy quickly moved aside.
Only then did Yvonne go upstairs.
The study room of the Whites was located in the innermost part of the second floor, occupying half of the area.
Yvonne walked over and found the door was open. She stood at the door and saw rows of neat bookshelves inside.
There were a variety of books on the bookshelves which were comparable to a small library.
Brant White was a bookworm indeed. As long as he had time, he would stay inside the study room all day.
Yvonne still stood at the door but did not enter.
She was told that her father didn’t go to the company today, so he must have been staying here all the time.
She paused and walked in. After passing through rows of bookshelves, she finally found her father who was sitting in front of the desk.
He sat there, wearing a pair of gold-rimmed glasses. There was a thick book before him, and he had almost finished reading it. Presumably, this was the result of his day’s work.
Yvonne frowned and walked over. Finding that he didn’t respond, she reached out her hand and knocked on the desk.
But Brant still fixed his eyes on the book, without raising his head. He said, "What’s the matter? You can tell me after I finish reading the book."
Yvonne was not surprised by his reaction.
In her past memory, even if it was a life-threatening event, he would still keep this attitude.
She had been used to Brant’s attitude since she was a child.
She did not disturb him to read. Instead, she pulled out a chair and sat opposite him.
It didn’t take long for Brant to finish reading the last page. He closed the book in a good mood, then took down the glasses and wiped them clean. After doing that, he put on the glasses again, realizing that Yvonne was still there.
He was stunned for a while, "Yvon? Why are you here?"
Yvonne glanced at his shocked expression, sneering inwardly.
After so many years, he still couldn’t recognize her own footsteps.
"I’m here to tell you that I’ve had a blind date, but the other party wasn’t satisfied with me." She indifferently stated the result.
Brant felt a little guilty and said, "It doesn’t matter, Yvon. I know I have wronged you this time."
"Since you know that, don’t arrange blind dates for me again." Yvonne said directly.
She sneered at their hypocrisy.
