Chapter 2347: Chapter 151: Isn’t That Seeking Your Own Doom?

Half an hour later.

Silver Hu Club

Momo was led by the Ye family’s old butler toward the fish pond.

This leisure fishing pond had a great location, sheltered from the wind but bathed in sunlight.

From a distance, Momo could only see an elderly man in military attire sitting by the pond, fishing.

"Miss Mo, that’s our old chief over there... The old chief loves fishing, and ever since Young Master Zhan was little, he loved accompanying the old chief to fish..."

Momo maintained a polite and appropriate smile, responding to the old butler.

As she approached, Old Master Ye turned around.

The first thing that captured Momo’s eyes were his sharp eyes, which had weathered many years of battlefield temperament, unlike the cloudy eyes of ordinary old men.

It was different from her grandfather, who spent a lifetime with a benevolent heart.

Momo felt an invisible pressure emanating from several steps away, originating from Old Master Ye.

After a few seconds of examination in his gaze, the wrinkles on his face stretched into a smile.

"Grandpa Ye!"

Momo spoke with a polite smile, this address was suggested by Old Master Ye during their phone call earlier.

He mentioned that he was Ye Zhan’s grandfather and asked her to call him grandpa as well.

Old Master Ye, smiling, pointed to the chair in front of him, beside which there was fishing gear, signaling Momo to sit down.

"Do you know how to fish?"

Momo turned her gaze toward the pond ahead.

The pond was large, and the clear water revealed fish swimming happily.

Momo smiled and said, "I used to play with my grandpa when I was little."

She said play, not fish.

"Give it a try."

"Okay."

Momo accepted graciously without hesitation.

Old Master Ye asked the old butler to take the fish he caught earlier to prepare for lunch today, which was fish.

He didn’t even ask whether Momo liked fish but made the decision for her.

However, he noticed that Momo showed no displeasure or any subtle change in expression due to his "presumption."

She was seriously casting the fishing rod into the pond, then silencing her phone.

She seemed oblivious to the conversation between Old Master Ye and the old butler, her gaze reflected on the water’s surface, focused, elegant, and serene.

Time passed slowly, second by second.

By the pond, there was a quiet silence.

A few minutes later, a hint of delight flickered in Momo’s tranquil eyes, and her delicate features blossomed into a joyful smile, "Grandpa Ye, I caught a little fish."

"Girl, that’s impressive, much better than my Ah Zhan’s first fishing lesson with me."

Old Master Ye praised her generously.

Momo sweetly said, "Thank you, Grandpa Ye, for the compliment."

She quickly and cleanly took the fish off the hook and returned it to the pond.

Then she cast the fishing rod into the pond again, "Actually, I was quite nervous just now."

"Oh, what were you nervous about?"

Old Master Ye raised one of his white brows.

He hadn’t noticed her being nervous; she claimed she was nervous, perhaps she was teasing him.

Momo teasingly said, "If my grandpa knew I couldn’t catch a fish, he would definitely say I’d embarrass him."

"Haha!"

Old Master Ye was amused and laughed heartily.

"Now you’ve not only not embarrassed your grandpa but also surprised me."

"Compared to Grandpa Ye’s catch, this can only be called shrimp."

Momo smiled, flattering him.

She had just seen the fish in Old Master Ye’s basin, much larger than hers.

Although she didn’t know why Old Master Ye wanted to meet her today, she felt it had something to do with the previous rumors about her and Ye Zhan.

"Do you play chess?"

"What kind of chess is Grandpa Ye talking about?"

Momo restrained her smile, cautiously asking.

"Military chess."

Momo gave a dry laugh, "You’re a seasoned veteran, playing military chess with you would be playing to lose."

"Then what chess do you suggest we play?"

"Let’s play Gomoku." Momo added with a smile, "I know a little bit."

"With the lesson earlier, I dare not believe you only know a little, this young girl looks harmless but is silently formidable."

Old Master Ye sized up Momo, speaking earnestly.

Earlier, she had only mentioned accompanying her grandpa for fun, not that she was skilled in fishing.

Yet, in a few moments, she beat him.

Earlier catching a fish.

Old Master Ye let the old butler return from the kitchen to prepare, pulling up the fish biting the rod and letting it go.

He entered indoors with Momo to play Gomoku.

"Call Ah Zhan, see if he’s had lunch. If not, invite him over to eat fish with us."

Old Master Ye picked up a black piece and instructed the old butler.

Upon hearing this, Momo’s gaze flickered.

Her slender fingers picked up a white piece.

"Girl, you go first."

Old Master Ye let Momo take the first move; she wasn’t shy about it, knowing her earlier success in catching a fish was mere luck before Old Master Ye.

This time playing chess, she was even more focused.

The butler went nearby to call Ye Zhan, unable to resist glancing in the direction of Old Master Ye and Momo.

Seeing their old chief genuinely happy and smiling, he felt delighted too.

Thinking internally, Miss Mo is a wonderful young woman, good both in appearance and temperament.

Despite her youth, she was gentle and polite, with a hint of liveliness and charm, no wonder the old chief liked her.

Even though the old chief had previously allowed Shi Zhen to frequent the Ye Family, and Shi Dongping had the intention of joining families.

He was never as amiable to Shi Zhen or Shi Xi as he was toward Miss Mo.

Until Ye Zhan’s rich, deep voice came through on the phone, the butler gathered himself, smiling and saying, "Young Master Zhan, the old chief and Miss Mo are fishing and playing chess at Yinhu; they asked me to give you a call. If you haven’t had lunch, come over to eat."

Ye Zhan was busy tracking Shi Dongliang and investigating Shi Dongping, likely off-schedule for meals.

As Old Master Ye suspected.

Ye Zhan had not eaten.

Moreover, he had just left the airport; an hour ago, he received a call from a subordinate saying there was suspicious activity involving Shi Dongliang near the airport.

He immediately rushed over.

Upon hearing the butler mention his old man and Momo fishing and playing chess together, he was momentarily stunned.

His feet followed suit in halting.

Which elicited a surprised look from the subordinate beside him.

Ye Zhan’s gaze swept across the scene, prompting the other to resume walking forward.

He stood straight on the square outside the airport, a slight movement in his brow as he contemplated.

"Are they playing chess now?"

"Yes, the old chief and Miss Mo are playing chess."

"What chess are they playing?"

"The old chief initially suggested military chess, but Miss Mo declined. They are playing Gomoku now."

The butler relayed the earlier conversation between Old Master Ye and Momo.

Joyfully saying, "I’ve never seen the old chief be this fond of a young lady before. Young Master Zhan, the old chief really likes Miss Mo. Since you two are friends, if you can make time, come over to have lunch with the old chief and Miss Mo."

Ye Zhan’s lips subtly curved, his voice low, remaining clear yet cold, "If I have time, I’ll be there."
