Chapter 172: Chapter 172: Young Madam
The address "Young Madam" made her skin crawl. Fortunately, the airport wasn’t crowded, so few people heard it. Otherwise, she would have been genuinely worried about being reported by someone with malicious intent.
These days, any report would trigger an investigation.
Outside the airport, a gleaming black sports coupe was parked by the entrance. The airport was in a remote suburb, and with so few people flying, cars could park wherever they pleased.
Just as they got in the car, the brick phone next to Uncle Wang in the driver’s seat rang. He picked it up and put it on speaker. "The young master and the Young Madam have been picked up. We just got in the car."
Then, Uncle Wang handed the phone to Huo Jingyuan. "The old madam would like to have a word with you," he said.
"Alright."
With the phone in Huo Jingyuan’s hand, Wen Ci clearly heard a kind voice say, "Ah Yuan, could you wait at the airport for a bit? Would that be okay?"
"What is it?" Huo Jingyuan asked.
"That girl from the Su Family... for some reason, she’s been sent back from Beijing. Your aunt asked me to look after her a bit. Her flight gets in half an hour."
’That girl from the Su Family.’
Upon hearing this, Wen Ci immediately thought of Su Wanqing. A small frown formed on her face. ’Why is Su Wanqing so hard to shake off, like gum on a shoe?’
’You run into her everywhere.’
"Wait for half an hour?" Huo Jingyuan’s brow furrowed. Noticing Wen Ci’s mood, he took her slender hand.
His large, calloused hand caressed the back of hers as if to comfort her. In a calm and steady voice, he said, "You can just send another car to the airport. I want to bring Ah Ci back to see you first."
"Alright, then."
After hanging up, Huo Jingyuan handed the phone back to Uncle Wang and said calmly, "Uncle Wang, let’s head straight back to West Lake."
"Understood."
Wen Ci felt him still caressing the back of her hand. She shot him a glare and whispered, "Don’t get fresh with me."
"This is getting fresh?"
Huo Jingyuan replied intimately, leaning close to her ear.
Though they spoke in whispers, the car was a small space, and Uncle Wang heard everything clearly. He glanced at the rearview mirror.
Mr. Huo hadn’t lived in Hangzhou for long. But in all his time with the Huo family, this was the first time Uncle Wang had ever seen him so expressive. Before, his handsome face was always cold—the very picture of a man who wanted no one to get close.
Wen Ci asked curiously, "What’s Su Wanqing’s relationship with your family, anyway? Didn’t she grow up abroad?"
"The Su Family was one of the first to emigrate. Su Wanqing’s grandmother knew my grandmother, and after they went abroad, the Su Family lived next door to my aunt."
Wen Ci understood.
The drive from the airport to Hangzhou City took about an hour. Hangzhou was a Southern city, its development rivaling that of the coastal metropolises.
Some of the large department stores downtown were playing songs from Hong Kong. Wen Ci closed her eyes, captivated by the vintage sound.
"You like it?" Huo Jingyuan asked.
Wen Ci slowly opened her eyes and replied, "The tune is quite interesting."
The bright afternoon sun illuminated her face. Gradually, the scenery of West Lake filled her vision, with Leifeng Pagoda not far in the distance.
’At this point, it seemed the smash hit *New Legend of White Snake* hadn’t been released yet.’
Wen Ci silently recalled the details. ’*Legend of the White Lady* was imported from Taiwan in the nineties, wasn’t it? They’re probably still casting for it now.’
’Taiwan and Hong Kong are two different places.’
"What are you thinking about?" Huo Jingyuan asked.
"I was just thinking how beautiful the scenery is here."
Suddenly, Uncle Wang slowed the vehicle, stopping at a gate. He rolled down the window and presented his identification.
Huo Jingyuan looked out the window at the guards and the security barrier. "Has it gotten this strict to enter the West Lake area?" he asked.
