Chapter 169: Chapter 169: Talking Cooperation
Wen Ci nodded and reminded her, "Just to clarify, yesterday was the grand opening special at eight yuan per jin. Starting today, the clothes are nine yuan per jin."
"Nine yuan a jin is fine too!"
The young woman pulled a business card from her pocket and said with a smile, "I was looking for you, Boss Wen, to discuss a partnership. This is my card."
Wen Ci’s gaze fell on the business card: Li Miao, Sales, Jiangnan Mall, Tongzhou.
She looked up and asked, "What kind of partnership?"
Tongzhou was a two-hour drive from Beijing.
"I’m a sales representative. I usually sell things for my company, but this time, I want to buy clothes from you to sell back in Tongzhou."
"That’s fine, but you’ll have to cover the shipping costs yourselves."
Li Miao nodded, then hesitated. "Of course. It’s just that we might not need a large quantity."
Wen Ci’s eyes crinkled into a smile. "That’s alright. A few hundred pieces is fine too."
It didn’t matter whether she sold a lot or a little; she liked the young woman’s attitude. The sky was just beginning to lighten, and it must have taken her one or two hours to get here from the city.
"I spoke with my manager on the phone yesterday. We’d like to place an initial order for fifteen hundred pieces of clothing."
Wen Ci pressed her lips together. "I sell by the jin, you know."
If she sold by the piece, it would be a simple matter of counting the clothes and collecting the money. But since Wen Ci sold by the jin, she had to weigh each item to calculate the total weight.
"Mhm, our boss has already told our accountant to make a trip to Beijing. If they sell well later on, we’ll be back for more."
Tongzhou was a prefecture-level city, and Jiangnan Mall was its largest shopping center. There were even smaller branches of Jiangnan Mall in the county towns of Tongzhou.
"No problem."
Li Miao looked at Second Brother Su and said, "Sir, if you’re available, would you be able to make a delivery to Tongzhou?"
Second Brother Su didn’t reply, instead looking to Wen Ci. He had already promised Boss Wen he would handle her deliveries.
"I’ll probably be busy with their order all day today."
Second Brother Su nodded. "Alright."
Normally, a small truck like his only made deliveries within Beijing. Inter-city trips charged a higher price, but he wasn’t very familiar with the routes.
Tongzhou was different, though. His wife was from Tongzhou.
Even in summer, the early mornings in Beijing were quite chilly. Wen Ci invited Li Miao to come sit inside the warehouse.
Li Miao stared at the stock in the warehouse, dumbfounded. ’To think there’s still so much of this in-demand clothing.’
"Boss Wen, your supply channels are really impressive."
"I have a friend to thank for it."
Xu Jinghe’s factory was in urgent need of reform. If he dropped the price too low in his Southern region, he would be ostracized by his competitors. But if he sold at the same price, his inventory would just pile up. Therefore, he desperately needed to sell this batch of clothing at a reasonable price.
If it weren’t for the fact that Wen Ci was Huo Jingyuan’s wife, he never would have sold to her. He just considered it a way for Huo Jingyuan’s wife to earn a little pocket money.
Around eight o’clock, the accountant from Jiangnan Mall arrived. They had also hired two workers to help with loading and unloading the goods, so Wen Ci didn’t need to lift a finger.
She just needed to stand next to the accountant by the scale and keep count.
「Half an hour later.」
All fifteen hundred pieces of clothing were loaded onto the truck. The accountant walked up to Wen Ci, holding a ledger, and said, "Boss Wen, the fifteen hundred pieces weigh a total of 2,463 jin. Please confirm."
Wen Ci nodded.
The accountant from Jiangnan Mall had written it down right in front of her.
"According to the agreed-upon price of nine yuan per jin, Jiangnan Mall owes you 22,167 yuan. We’ll round that up to 22,288 yuan for you. Is that acceptable?"
Wen Ci blinked.
She had thought they would round it to 22,200 yuan, but they had rounded it up to 22,288 instead. That was an extra 121 yuan, which was not a small sum.
"You don’t have to round it up that much," Wen Ci said.
’It isn’t easy for anyone to make money these days.’
