Chapter 2942 - Subtly Shifting Reeds Indicate an Impending Storm on the Far Shore

Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan glanced at Heavenly Sovereign E, then laughed coldly. “What, you can’t even take responsibility for something so trivial?”

His voice was rife with disdain, but Heavenly Sovereign E thought nothing of it. Instead, he pondered briefly, then nodded. “Very well. I’ll represent my fellow Daoists in agreeing to this condition!”

Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan snorted. “Don’t act like I demanded a chunk of your flesh. It’s disgusting!”

Heavenly Sovereign E burst into uproarious laughter. Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan was the founder of the Taiwu Sect, as well as the greatest Demonist cultivator in the Eternal Heavens Domain. He was vicious by nature, and he spoke with abandon.

Heavenly Sovereign E naturally wouldn’t take offense. He pondered briefly, then said, “In that case, it’s settled. Might I ask how long you’ll need to fulfill your end of our bargain?”

Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan frowned. Inwardly, he was at a bit of a loss. He’d heard about the battle outside the Literati Continent, and he knew that Su Yi and Lu Hongpao were still alive.

However, there’d been no word of either of them since. Finding either one of them would prove endlessly difficult.

But out loud, he said with displeasure, “I agreed, so I’ll naturally fulfill my end of the bargain as soon as possible. Go back and wait for further news.”

Heavenly Sovereign E’s eyes flashed. “I naturally trust your character, but I still must warn you: dark currents are flowing beneath the surface, and the future is unpredictable. We cannot wait too long.”

Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan’s eyes narrowed. He naturally knew that Heavenly Sovereign E wasn’t just trying to scare him.

Of late, far too many variables had arisen in the Eternal Heavens Domain. For example, experts of the Far Shore had been involved in the battle outside the Literati Continent from behind the scenes!

And they were planning to rebuild an Eternal Throne. If word got out, the whole world would pay attention. There was no telling how much of a commotion this would cause.

“Rest assured. I understand that full well,” Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan said calmly.

“Then I’ll be on my way.” Heavenly Sovereign E smiled, rose, and turned to leave.

That very day, Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan left Flowing Abundance Pavilion and emerged from seclusion.

......

News also spread that same day that Su Yi had appeared in the ruins of the Heart-Tempering Sword House, killing Heavenly Monarch Lu Yang of Limitless Palace and taking Heavenly Monarch Bi Hu alive.

Rumor had it that Heavenly Monarchs Xiu Hu and Qiong Ye of the Court of the Southern Heavens had died brutal deaths by his hands, too!

This development shook the entire Divine Wandering Continent. Within just one day, it swept across the other continents like a storm, causing a massive wave of uproar.

Su Yi was the reincarnation of Jiang Wuchen, the founder of the Heart-Tempering Sword House. The world knew him as a young Divine Wandering Realm sword cultivator, but he’d vanished following the clash in the Literati Continent.

Who could have imagined that he’d appear again strong enough to cut down Heavenly Monarchs?

This was far too astonishing, to the point that when word first spread, everyone’s first instinct was to doubt it. It seemed impossible. How could a Divine Wandering Realm sword cultivator cross three realms to cut down Heavenly Monarchs?

There had to be more to this than met the eye!

“This can’t possibly be Su Yi’s own strength. He’s got to be using some sort of terrifying external power!”

That was what the vast majority thought.

Those who understood Su Yi knew that he was shrouded in mystery and had numerous unbelievable cards up his sleeves. It was for this reason that the vast majority of them assumed he’d used one of these external powers, not his own strength, to cut down all those Heavenly Monarchs.

“But they say that Su Yi fought barehanded in the ruins of the Heart-Tempering Sword House, and that he never used any sort of external power!”

“That’s right! And someone saw that he was using Silent Realm cultivation!”

“Eyewitness testimony is often unreliable, and Su Yi has so many cards up his sleeves. Who’s to say he didn’t use external power?”

“I’m sure Su Yi showed up to avenge the Heart-Tempering Sword House! After all, his past life was its founder, Jiang Wuchen, the Greatest of the Unthroned!”

Similar discussions took place throughout the Eternal Heavens Domain. After this battle, Su Yi had returned to the forefront of public consciousness, becoming the subject of heated debate across the Five Great Continents.

Limitless Palace, Sevendeaths Court, and the Court of the Southern Heavens were furious. They’d joined forces to set a trap in the ruins of the Heart-Tempering Sword House, hoping to capture the survivors and use them to find leads to the Cauldron of Fate.

But Su Yi’s appearance had ruined their plans!

Practically that very day, the three factions issued a joint decree. Su Yi was wanted. Anyone who provided useful leads would be rewarded generously!

Su Yi’s portraits were now plastered all over every city in the Five Great Continents.

In one such city, Wang Zhiwu stood with his hands behind his back, admiring a portrait hanging from the city walls. “Tch, tch. That good brother of mine sure is ferocious. He’s only just returned to the Eternal Heavens Domain, but he’s already caused such an enormous disturbance.”

The portrait depicted a man in blue robes. This was, of course, none other than Su Yi.

“Patriarch, come with this disciple, and you’ll see that everything I told you was true!” pleaded the short old man kneeling humbly beside Wang Zhiwu. He was hunched over and red-nosed from habitual drunkenness, with slanted eyes and thick red Daoist robes.

“Quit trying to trick me!” Wang Zhiwu said coldly. “How many times must I repeat myself? I’ve never joined any kind of orthodoxy, nor have I ever taken on any disciples. How could you possibly be my grand-disciple? Hurry up and get the hell away from me!”

Wang Zhiwu shook his head impatiently, then walked off.

He’d bumped into the red-robed old man not long ago, while gathering information about an ancient tomb from the Primordial Era. The old man said he was from the Sect of Endlessness, and that his Daoist Title was Mu Yu. He was apparently the disciple of the sect’s Grand Libationer. Most ridiculous of all, he proclaimed that Wang Zhiwu was the patriarch of his lineage, the founder of the Sect of Endlessness!

What a crock of shit!

What dogshit Sect of Endlessness? Wang Zhiwu had never even heard of it. It had to be some tiny sect from a backwater.

And this Mu Yu person had to be some kind of charlatan or scam artist!

Wang Zhiwu didn’t hesitate to tell him to scram, but against all expectations, Mu Yu stuck to him like toffee. Try as he might to chase him off, Mu Yu was relentless.

The old man furrowed his brow, clearly stressed but not deterred. “Patriarch, I said it already, there’s more to this than meets the eye. If you don’t believe me, come with me to see the Grand Libationer. You’ll naturally understand then!”

Wang Zhiwu just picked up his feet and dashed off, ignoring the man completely.

“Patriarch! Patriaaaarch!” Mu Yu chased after him like mad.

Although Wang Zhiwu didn’t know it, and although it seemed like they were just talking out loud, no one else could hear their conversation.

Naturally, Wang Zhiwu had no idea that Mu Yu, the disciple of the Grand Libationer of the Sect of Endlessness, was an expert in his own right, a high-ranking authority responsible for maintaining discipline in the sect. Moreover, he was infamous on the Far Shore of Destiny!

But no matter how dense Wang Zhiwu might have been, he naturally understood that something wasn’t quite right about this old man.

That was part of why he tried to fob him off and leave immediately.

Unfortunately, that was easier said than done. There was no getting rid of Mu Yu.

......

Not long after Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan left the Blackwater Celestial Capital, he learned of Su Yi’s battle in the ruins of the Heart Tempering Sword House. That kid is seriously this strong already!?

Then, he smiled. That makes things simple. When the wind blows, it leaves behind its vestiges. When a goose flies, it leaves behind its call. Now that he’s shown up, given my abilities, tracking him down will be no trouble at all!

......

The Qiongqi Mountain Lord stood respectfully in Divine Reverence Pavilion. He’d only just reported Su Yi’s appearance in the ruins of the Heart-Tempering Sword House to his mistress.

Ruo Su stood beneath the gazebo, a thoughtful look on her calm, tranquil face.

“Some in the River of Destiny are trying to acquire the Key to Endless Tribulations, while some in the Eternal Heavens Domain are trying to locate the Cauldron of Fate. Still others are trying to rebuild the Yitian Eternal Throne. All three of these goals... are intended to bring about a new Heavenly Sovereign,” whispered Ruo Su. “The ducks are the first to know of the coming of spring. Similarly, when a storm rises, the Heavenly Sovereigns are the first to sense it.

“It seems that the Heavenly Sovereigns have realized that the end of the Eternal Pact means an unpredictable storm is heading here from the Far Shore of Destiny.”

The Qiongqi Mountain Lord’s heart shook as a lot occurred to him at once.

The Key to Endless Tribulations could be used to visit the Abyss of Endless Tribulations, while the Cauldron of Fate was connected to the Sea of Fate.

And the two lost Eternal Thrones were in the Abyss of Endless Tribulations and the Sea of Fate respectively!

Each represented an opportunity to become a Heavenly Sovereign.

And if they successfully reforged the Yitian Eternal Throne, it could be used to create yet another Heavenly Sovereign!

Of late, there’d been numerous new developments surrounding all three possible opportunities. This was unquestionable proof that Ruo Su was right. A storm was brewing, and those who’d sensed it had already begun preparations!

“Mistress, Fellow Daoist Su has already acquired the Key to Endless Tribulations, while the Heart-Tempering Sword House has the Cauldron of Fate. Now that Fellow Daoist Su has returned, he’ll soon take over rule over the Heart-Tempering Sword House. That will naturally include the Cauldron of Fate,” the Qiongqi Mountain Lord said suddenly. “Doesn’t that mean he’ll have gotten his hands on two out of the three available opportunities to become a Heavenly Sovereign?”

“Mm,” said Ruo Su. “That’s the most troublesome part. If anyone realizes this, Su Yi will find himself in grave peril.”

“Then... should we do something about it?” asked the Qiongqi Mountain Lord.

Ruo Su laughed, then shook her head. “Don’t underestimate Fellow Daoist Su. He’s far more capable than either of us realizes.”

Su Yi had already assumed control over Fangchun Mountain’s ancestral grounds. That proved that he’d earned the recognition of everyone left there.

Based on that alone, Ruo Su had complete confidence in Su Yi.

Ruo Su sat casually beneath the gazebo and said, “But we can’t just watch, either. Take a trip into the outside world and investigate the factions from the Far Shore. Quite a few have appeared already.”

A hint of imposing light appeared in the depths of her gaze. “This time, I permit you to use your true power!”

“Understood!” The Qiongqi Mountain Lord quivered, then nodded his assent and turned to leave.

Ruo Su sat there in silence, a dazed look on her face.

The storm was still brewing. It had yet to blow over from the Far Shore.

Still, there’d already been far too many unprecedented developments. When the storm actually struck in earnest... how would the world change?

Waves first took shape amidst the ripples, and great winds rose from the tips of the reeds.

Everything was still unknown, but there were already signs!

I just hope that when the storm arrives, Fellow Daoist Su can become a Heavenly Sovereign. If he can’t... Ruo Su couldn’t help but sigh.

She still didn’t understand just what had led to the pending storm, or why the Eternal Pact had been destroyed, nor did she know what had changed deep within the All-Wonder Dominion.

All she knew for sure was that when the storm hit, Su Yi would be in unprecedented peril!
