Chapter 2927 - Outside Roaring Dragon City

Su Yi chatted with the Qiongqi Mountain Lord a while longer before returning to the hall. There, he took out the Book of Destiny and sent his heart power into its first page.

The Divine Punishment Destiny Ruin instantly appeared reflected within his heart.

“Fellow Daoist Su is here,” the Monarch of Endless Tribulations called out.

“What happened to him?” Su Yi discovered that Li Shouhu’s imprisoned soul was now incomparably dim and weak.

The Monarch of Endless Tribulations smiled and explained, “The two of us joined forces to extract a portion of his memories, but rest assured that his soul survived the process. He won’t die or otherwise alert his true body.

“Fellow Daoist, these are the memories we extracted. I hope they’re useful to you.” The Buddha of Non-Existence extended and flicked a finger, sending a sealed power flying toward Su Yi.

Su Yi couldn’t help but find this surprising. He’d come here to find Li Shouhu in the hope that he could learn something about Three Purities Temple’s connection to the Malevolent Sword Venerate.

He would never have guessed that the Monarch of Endless Tribulations and Buddha of Non-Existence would be so considerate as to extract some of Li Shouhu’s memories for him!

They’d effectively done him an enormous favor in advance, entirely unprompted.

“Many thanks!” Su Yi said solemnly.

“This isn’t about currying favor or establishing positive karma. It was a trivial matter, something done easily in passing,” the Monarch of Endless Tribulations said with a smile. “You needn’t take it to heart. It’s enough that you come see us in the Abyss of Endless Tribulations before becoming a Heavenly Sovereign.”

“When it comes to cultivation, those who focus on speed never reach their goals. You needn’t rush your cultivation. After all, my enmity with the Monarch of Endless Tribulations has lasted a long, long time already. We don’t mind waiting a while longer.”

There was no denying it; their words were far too pleasant to the ears. They were subtle, yet they thoroughly instilled Su Yi with goodwill. How could he possibly refuse them now?

Naturally, he accepted their generosity, accepted Li Shouhu’s extracted memories, and put the Book of Destiny away.

After examining the memories in full detail, Su Yi couldn’t help but sink into thought. The memories were fragmented and incomplete, so Su Yi didn’t learn much, but it was enough.

First, Li Shouhu was from a branch of Three Purities Temple known as the Greater Purity Sect, and he worked for an expert called Yun Wuxiang.

After the God Domain’s Battle for Order, Li Shouhu joined Yun Wuxiang in setting a trap for the River Lord and Gongye Futu!

Second, Yun Wuxiang should have been dead, but his little martial uncle, Lonely Heights, had brought him back.

And it was the Big Boss of Sword Sovereign City who’d killed Yun Wuxiang!

Third, Yun Wuxiang, Li Shouhu, and the others had left the Far Shore of Destiny and come to the Eternal Heavens Domain in part due to the destruction of the Eternal Pact.

However, due to the restrictions of the natural order of destiny, as well as the threat they presented, they were lying low, as were almost all experts visiting from the Far Shore of Destiny.

Fourth, Yun Wuxiang had really set his sights on the Malevolent Sword Venerate and the Heart-Tempering Sword House a long time ago. He saw the Malevolent Sword Venerate as a pawn, but his ultimate goal was to locate Su Yi, the reincarnation of the Big Boss of Sword Sovereign City.

Fourth, Li Shouhu’s clone had come to the River of Destiny to accomplish three goals. He wanted to find the Key to Endless Tribulations, the Book of Destiny, and leads to the Jade Record of Fortune.

Su Yi already had the Key to Endless Tribulations and the Book of Destiny in his position. Naturally, he knew what they both were.

But this was his first time hearing of the Jade Record of Fortune.

Unfortunately, Li Shouhu didn’t know just what kind of treasure it was, either. All he remembered was Yun Wuxiang telling him that the River of Destiny had four mysterious, unfathomable treasures.

The Book of Destiny, the Jade Record of Fortune, and two others that had long since been found and claimed.

And it turned out that Lu Shi was the key to finding the Jade Record of Fortune!

Or rather, Lu Shi’s Writing Brush of Genesis.

This discovery was outside of Su Yi’s expectations.

The Writing Brush of Genesis was one of the Nine Mysteries of Chaos, and it was now in Su Yi’s possession.

Su Yi had long since planned to find an opportunity to fuse the Writing Brush of Genesis with the rest of the Nine Mysteries of Chaos.

He just didn’t realize that the Writing Brush of Genesis was somehow connected to the Jade Record of Fortune.

Su Yi committed this to memory. He planned to get to the bottom of this when it came time to fuse the Nine Mysteries of Chaos.

Those were all the useful leads that Su Yi gleaned from Li Shouhu’s memories. The rest were too scattered, fragmented, and random to be useful.

They were, however, at least somewhat enlightening. Su Yi now realized that it was Li Shouhu who’d send Lu Shi to search for the Key to Endless Tribulations, and that Lu Shi and the Winged Dragon River Emperor had been working together because their backers, the Ape Ancestor and Li Shouhu, were acquainted.

This was also Su Yi’s first time learning that Li Shouhu’s clone had been on the verge of going to the Eternal Heavens Domain to make contact with his true body when the Qiongqi Mountain Lord suppressed him. Had Li Shouhu’s clone managed to leave, he’d have returned to set a trap for Su Yi.

Unfortunately for him, the Qiongqi Mountain Lord ruined his plans before they even began.

This information no longer meant much to Su Yi. Still, it served as a warning. He now realized that if his location came to light, powerful enemies would covet his treasures and target him!

Li Shouhu decided to set a trap for him the moment he learned of Su Yi’s presence in the River of Destiny. Others would likely do the same given an opportunity.

Su Yi sat in the hall, pondering in silence for a while before concluding that the Malevolent Sword Venerate’s death was most likely connected to Yun Wuxiang.

However, there were still lots of questions he had no way of answering.

Was the Malevolent Sword Venerate really dead?

And where were the surviving members of the Heart-Tempering Sword House? Several major factions of the Eternal Heavens Domain knew they were still alive. Would they try to hunt down or otherwise harm the survivors?

After pondering for a while, Su Yi made a decision, got up, and left the hall. Then, he called the others over.

“I’ve decided to leave the River of Destiny and return to the Eternal Heavens Domain,” said Su Yi.

The others exchanged glances, but none of them found this strange. The Qiongqi Mountain Lord had already told them about the Heart-Tempering Sword House, so they naturally understood that Su Yi’s decision was due to the destruction of the Heart-Tempering Sword House.

“I’ll go with you,” said Wang Zhiwu. “It’s on the way.”

The Qiongqi Mountain Lord nodded. He planned to return, too. He had to go back and report on his mission.

“Do you need my help, my worthy younger brother?” asked River Ancestor Shen Xiao.

“I can accompany you too, Fellow Daoist Su,” offered River Ancestor Lu Shu.

Su Yi knew that experts like Shen Xiao and Lu Shu could leave the River of Destiny, but that if they went to the Eternal Heavens Domain, they’d be subject to the restrictions of its natural order.

It was much like what happened to Heavenly Sovereigns who tried to enter the River of Destiny. Either way, something was highly likely to go wrong.

When they saw that Su Yi had made up his mind, they made no further attempts to persuade him.

Later that day, at their farewell banquet, Star Toad was in low spirits. River Empress Peacock seemed dejected, too.

But the two River Ancestors seemed to accept the situation. Both told Su Yi that if the Eternal Heavens Domain proved too dangerous, he could just come back to the River of Destiny. With them backing him up, even Heavenly Sovereigns would get more than they bargained for if they tried anything.

Furthermore, both of them gave Su Yi their tokens and told him that when he returned to the River of Destiny, he could use them to make contact with them immediately.

When the banquet ended, Su Yi, Wang Zhiwu, and the Qiongqi Mountain Lord set off. The others accompanied them to the surface, then returned to the water.

......

Half a month later, in the Divine Wandering Continent.

As one of the Five Great Continents, the Divine Wandering Continent was a gathering place for experts. Its orthodoxies were numerous and flourishing.

Limitless Palace, one of the nine Heavenly Sovereign factions, was based there, as was the Heart-Tempering Sword House.

Late at night, in Roaring Dragon City, Su Yi stood alone on the roof of an inn, gazing into the distance. When he peered through the night, he could dimly discern the scenery outside the city.

When the Devastation ended, ushering in the early days of the New Beginning, the Heart-Tempering Sword House established its base atop a divine mountain eight thousand miles from Roaring Dragon City.

The mountain was originally called Blue Jewel, but Jiang Wuchen renamed it “Heart-Tempering.” It became the ancestral grounds of his sect.

Su Yi stood there in silence for a long time before returning to his room.

When he and his companions reached the Eternal Heavens Domain, the Qiongqi Mountain Lord set off on his own. He was reporting back to Divine Reverence Pavilion.

Wang Zhiwu bade farewell and left a few days prior. He said something urgent had come up, and he needed to resolve it immediately.

In the end, Su Yi came to the Divine Wandering Realm alone.

This was the nature of cultivation. Everyone had their own path to walk and their own business to take care of, and it wasn’t always under their control. People gathered, then parted ways, a process as unpredictable as the wind.

That was what made reunions between old friends so precious.

Su Yi sat in his room and crossed his legs. He planned to visit the ruins of the Heart-Tempering Sword House tomorrow.

But for now, he had other business to attend to. With a wave of his sleeves, the Nine Mysteries of Chaos floated into the air.

The Writing Brush of Genesis, the Blade of Divine Loathing, the Sword of Proximity, the Sky-Stealing Hook, the Book of Karma, the Heaven-Covering Boat, the Yin-Yang Diagram, the Realm-Demarcating Ruler, and the Umbrella of Tribulations.

All of them flowed with chaos power, and each emanated a distinctive light of the Grand Dao.

A resentful voice emanated from the Book of Karma. “Su Yi, if you refine me, who will help you relieve your boredom? Where else will you find someone as wholeheartedly good to you as me?”

Over the years, Su Yi occasionally took out the Book of Karma to converse with “Sixth Brother Book.”

“I’m not refining you; I’m fusing all of you into one,” corrected Su Yi. “This won’t hurt a bit, so don't worry.”

The Book of Karma was instantly agitated. “When you fuse us together, First Brother Brush’s source power will have supremacy. There’ll be no place left for me!”

Here, the Book of Karma changed tack. “Of course... if you were willing to use my source power as the basis for our fusion, I’d reconsider!”

Su Yi laughed coldly. “You’re the only one complaining, you know. You really are a whiner.”

The Book of Karma sighed and was just about to say something when the Writing Brush of Genesis shifted, and an inscrutable aura emanated from its tip.

Sixth Brother Book jumped, then fell silent.

Su Yi, meanwhile, sensed the meaning within the Writing Brush of Genesis’s mysterious energy fluctuation.

“Don’t pay any attention to that whiner. Nine represents the limit. Together, we nine shall become one. Only then can you learn the true secrets of the Nine Mysteries of Chaos!”
