Chapter 2912 - The Power of Nirvana, the Destiny Heart Avatar
After describing the Abyss of Ceaseless Destiny and the Negative Karma Destiny Demons, Xiao Jian went on to explain what Su Yi really wanted to know: the third and most mysterious page of the Book of Destiny!
The third page was called the Nirvanic Destiny Lands. It was a highly unusual and mysterious place full of endlessly vast chaos grounds and countless unbelievable secrets. It was shrouded in chaos mist year-round.
And a pool lay at the heart of the fog. It wasn’t large, either, just ninety feet across.
It was called the Pool of Nirvana. The opening of a mysterious spring lay at its base.
Xiao Jian called it the Destiny Spring. The spring water was actually the concentrated source energies of the entire Book of Destiny, the “Power of Nirvana!”
Nirvana signified a transformation of one’s life and fundamental nature, like a phoenix reborn amidst the flame, or a caterpillar breaking free of its cocoon and becoming a butterfly.
This was the Power of Nirvana, a power that transformed one’s life itself, an unbelievable metamorphosis!
It was the most mysterious, fundamental power of the Book of Destiny.
According to Xiao Jian, opening the third page required an opportunity, and a special one at that. Moreover, he had to be a Heavenly Sovereign at the very least.
More importantly, he had to reach an even higher level in his cultivation of the heart. He needed a Destiny Heart Avatar!
The soul gave rise to avatars of will. The body gave rise to avatars of the Grand Dao, while the heart produced a special kind of avatar all its own: the Destiny Heart Avatar!
The Destiny Heart Avatar was a level beyond the Natal Heart Lamp. It fused the Heart Soul, Heart Lamp, and Light of the Heart into one, producing an avatar of one’s heart, life, and destiny. It could wander freely across the landscape of the heart, communing across the ages. It was mystical beyond measure.
And cultivating a Destiny Heart Avatar required the Power of Nirvana!
That aside, the third section of the Spirit Platform Chapter was located on the book’s third page, in the Nirvanic Destiny lands.
Now, Su Yi finally understood.
The Divine Punishment Destiny Ruin on the first page of the Book of Destiny was for cultivating Destiny’s Wrath.
The Abyss of Ceaseless Destiny was for cultivating the power of the Destiny Soul.
The Nirvanic Destiny Lands were for cultivating the power of Nirvana.
All were connected to the heart, life force, and destiny!
After learning the mysteries of the three pages, Su Yi couldn’t help but feel astonished.
The book had only three pages, yet they encompassed all things!
“Back then, I managed to seize hold of one of the mysteries of reincarnation and ‘fake death and live on’ even after I reincarnated. The secret that let me do so was hidden in the Nirvanic Destiny Grounds on the third page,” said Xiao Jian. “But even at my peak, I never grasped all of the mysteries of the third page. It’s not that I didn’t want to, but that I couldn’t.
“In the end, I concluded that only someone who fully grasped the Laws of Destiny could uncover all of the third page’s secrets.”
Despite himself, a hint of regret appeared on Xiao Jian’s face.
Back then, had he grasped all of the mysteries of the third page, he might never have wound up in this state of “false death.”
“Later, when you open the third page for yourself, you’ll understand what I’m talking about.” Xiao Jian pondered briefly, then added, “But that’s not what you really need to keep an eye out for. You should be more worried about the Abyss of Endless Tribulations.”
He knew that Su Yi needed to visit the Abyss of Endless Tribulations prior to becoming a Heavenly Sovereign. There, he had to end things with the Monarch of Endless Tribulations and the Buddha of Non-Existence.
Su Yi was instantly curious. “The Abyss of Endless Tribulations? What specifically should I be on guard for?”
“That place is the source of Tribulations of Destiny, as well as the place I acquired the Book of Destiny. Don’t you find that strange? The Book of Destiny was hidden in the Abyss of Endless Tribulations, so why couldn’t its ruler, the Monarch of Endless Tribulations, acquire it?”
Su Yi blinked. “I don’t know. Why?”
Xiao Jian’s gaze was inscrutable. “It wasn’t some sort of ‘only the fated can acquire this treasure,’ situation, nor was I lucky, nor was the Monarch of Endless Tribulations simply unlucky. Rather, I used the Sword of the Nine Hells!”
Su Yi couldn’t help but exclaim, “You used the Sword of the Nine Hells to earn the Book of Destiny’s approval?”
“That’s right.” Xiao Jian smiled. “I’m sure our first incarnation’s heart devil knows why. After all, the Sword of the Nine Hells was once his personal weapon; he understands it better than anyone else.
“He suggested that you visit the Abyss of Endless Tribulations before becoming a Heavenly Sovereign, but there’s no way he did so simply so that you could end things with the Monarch of Endless Tribulations and the Buddha of Non-Existence.”
Su Yi couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow. My first incarnation’s heart devil was actually hiding something like that?
“Actually, if you just fused with my Dao Imprint, there’d be no need for me to explain. You’d naturally learn everything you wanted to know,” said Xiao Jian. “I’m sure you’d be surprised, too. You cannot even imagine how many strange and peculiar things I’ve encountered over my years of cultivation, nor how many unbelievable encounters and experiences I’ve had. For example...”
But just as he was about to continue, Su Yi interrupted him. “I know what you’re trying to do. You want to tempt me to the point that I can’t resist the urge to fuse with your Dao Imprint. Well, forget it!”
Xiao Jian sighed. “It’s a pity. During my years as Destiny’s Chosen, destiny played many tricks on me, and I often...”
“Stop!” Su Yi said irritably. “That’s twice, now. Don’t let there be a third time!”
Xiao Jian laughed, then gave up on convincing Su Yi to fuse with his Dao Imprint. He rose, shook his sleeves, and put his hands behind his back. “The remaining power of this imprint will fuse into the second page of the Book of Destiny. It’ll seal the Abyss of Ceaseless Destiny so completely that you’ll have no need to worry about the Negative Karma Destiny Demons escaping.
“Also, there’s something you have to keep in mind. Don’t open the second page until you’ve acquired a Natal Heart Lamp. Disregarding the other potential consequences, that old bastard Mo Hanyi would be more than enough to kill you.
“Finally, I’m going to try to convince you one last time: don’t fixate on bringing me back. I was once Destiny’s Chosen, and I understand far better than you that it simply isn’t possible. Obsessing over it will only hurt you.”
Su Yi said with exasperation, “No matter how I look at it, it sounds like you’re passing on your last wishes and parting words. That’s going to feel awkward when I manage to bring you back.”
Xiao Jian froze, then threw back his head and laughed.
Scholars were often mocked as good-for-nothings, but even a scholar could take up the sword and sever the injustices weighing down on his heart.
His only regret was that he never got to see the big sister he’d once relied on again...
Xiao Jian’s figure silently dissipated into a rain of light, then vanished.
Meanwhile, a clamor of frantic, enraged voices emanated from the second page of the Book of Destiny.
“Xiao Jian, you wouldn’t dare!”
“Dammit! He’s gone insane! He’s going to seal us completely!”
“Mo Hanyi, we’ve endured for countless years. This is our opportunity to break free. Why aren’t you doing anything!?”
As a cacophony of voices arose, a strange, rumbling power appeared over the Abyss of Ceaseless Destiny.
But then, all of the voices faded away. Soon, even the rumbling in the Abyss of Ceaseless Destiny sank into silence.
Su Yi gripped the Book of Destiny in silence. He knew that Xiao Jian’s imprint had now fused fully into the Book of Destiny; there was no longer any sign of it.
If he wanted to bring Xiao Jian back now, his only option was to use the Dao Imprint sealed in the Sword of the Nine Hells.
After a while, Su Yi emerged from his reverie, got up, and left.
“My worthy younger brother.” River Ancestor Shen Xiao was the first to approach and greet him. He smiled. “Fellow Daoist Wang told me about some of your past accomplishments, and I’ve got to say, I couldn’t help but sigh with admiration. It was like hearing a legend!”
His eyes were full of undisguised admiration and closeness. It wasn’t faked, either. Wang Zhiwu had hidden a lot of information, but his tales of Su Yi’s exploits were shocking nonetheless.
Just listening to his account of the Battle for Order was enough to make Shen Xiao’s heart jump with excitement and terror.
As old as River Ancestor Shen Xiao was, when he learned that Su Yi won in the end, becoming the Master of the Epochs, his blood boiled, and he couldn’t help but slap his thigh repeatedly with excitement.
Naturally, River Ancestor Lu Shu, River Empress Peacock, and the others felt similarly.
It wasn’t the heights of someone’s cultivation base that made them a legend, but rather their experiences and accomplishments.
And all of Su Yi’s past feats were full of mysterious flair. Who wouldn’t have been impressed?
Fortunately, Wang Zhiwu had no idea how the grand battle in the Literati Continent had ended. Had the group learned that Su Yi had faced numerous Heavenly Sovereigns and survived, they’d have been even more astonished.
Of course, setting all of that aside, Su Yi’s performance in the Cave of Obsession had been more than unbelievable enough.
“Compared to you, Daoist Brother, I’m only a junior. I cannot bear such high praise.” Su Yi waved dismissively, then looked at Wang Zhiwu. I wouldn’t have guessed he was such a blabbermouth.
Wang Zhiwu hurriedly transmitted, “I just told them things that are common knowledge in the Eternal Heavens Domain. I didn’t reveal anything private!”
Su Yi naturally wouldn’t make trouble for him over this. He just said, “Come on, let’s get out of here.”
Everyone was visibly relieved. If they hadn’t been waiting for Su Yi, they’d have left this blasted place as soon as possible.
Only River Ancestor Lu Shu was somewhat sad about it all.
The Cave of Obsession was the manifestation of his heart and cultivation base. If all went as he expected, the moment he left, the entire place would collapse and vanish into the Silent Annihilation Forbidden Domain in the depths of the River of Destiny.
But he wasn’t overly upset about it. After all, living on in the form of a Destiny Soul was like a second chance at life.
The group soon set off under River Ancestor Lu Shu’s leadership.
Crunch! Crack!
Not long after the group left, the scenery cracked throughout the Cave of Obsession. The earth caved in, the sky fell, and the entire world fell apart.
Countless dark, turbid currents flowed in from all sides, enveloping the shattered world completely.
The currents were strange and full of dense, negative karmic power. They came from the Silent Annihilation Forbidden Domain!
The Cave of Obsession had lain within the Silent Annihilation Forbidden Domain, so when it shattered, the place it had once stood was instantly enveloped in water.
“That’s the aura of the Book of Destiny... Don’t tell me a new Destiny’s Chosen has appeared?”
A group silently emerged from the black depths of the river, like water grass swaying in the current, their features indistinct.
One of them gripped a fragment of the now-shattered Cave of Obsession. From it, he sensed a wisp of the unique aura of the Book of Destiny!
The figure flipped his palm, producing a strange, unearthly flower. It blazed like a blood-red lantern, its petals scattered deep red radiance.
This was a Whirling Netherworld Blossom, the distinctive flora of the Silent Annihilation Forbidden Domain.
“Pass on my commands. Tell all of our forces stationed in the outside world to search for leads on the Book of Destiny in the River of Destiny!”
The figure pointed and raised his fingertip, and the Whirling Netherworld Blossom shook, its petals dispersing and burning into ash.
