Chapter 1937: Sunless Darkness

The pond was only around three hundred feet across, not large at all.

The dense chaos mist rising from it was pure Grand Dao source power condensed into a liquid. It churned within the pool, giving rise to strange and mysterious visions of the first parting of primordial chaos.

The pure and impure were divided. The pure rose and transformed into the dome of heaven, while the impure sank, becoming the earth. As the world developed, Dark and Gold Essence was born, which in turn gave rise to creation in all facets: mountains, rivers, trees, and rocks…

Before long, suns, moons, and stars appeared in a self-perpetuating cycle, complete with the alternating of seasons and other phenomena.

Thunder boomed. Destruction and creation coexisted, and the world gave rise to living things…

These visions of the first parting of primordial chaos appeared reflected in the pool. It had an ancient, primeval quality that shocked all who gazed upon it.

Su Yi stood on the banks, gazing intently into its waters before making up his mind. He would go into seclusion here!

“The nine of you can go defend the Spirit Domain’s borders,” said Su Yi, summoning the nine Divine Puppets with a swoosh of his sleeves. “If anyone tries to enter, kill them without mercy, no matter who they are.”

He then used his divine sense to tell the puppets the garrisons’ locations, one by one.

“Yes, Master!” The Nine Divine Puppets instantly got to work.

Unlike ordinary puppets, the Divine Puppets had complete souls and bodies. It was just that secret markings of the Divine Dao had been refined into them, like threads manipulating a marionette. Their owners could control the puppets with the same facility as their own hands and feet.

The most wondrous aspect of Divine Puppets lay in their ability to cultivate on their own. It was just that they couldn’t make any further breakthroughs. They could cultivate, but all they could do was replenish their drained cultivation bases.

Even so, Divine Puppets made for terrifying killer weapons.

Su Yi had made these arrangements because he was certain that when word spread of his one-man invasion of the Ancestral Demon Grounds, the million demons who’d invaded the Immortal Realm would retreat immediately. And when they returned to the Spirit Domain, they’d have to pass through one of its thirteen garrisons. The nine Divine Puppets could kill the returning invaders until the ground ran red with rivers of blood!

In other words, he was laying an ambush along the periphery of his enemies’ nest. The puppets would intercept them as they tried to return from the Immortal Realm!

As for Su Yi? There was no need for him to rush back to the Immortal Realm. When word spread, the demons would retreat on their own, averting the imminent crisis.

Seven days have passed since I arrived in the Spirit Domain. I wonder what the situation is in the Immortal Realm… As Su Yi pondered, he walked into the Chaos Pool and sat cross-legged.

Dense, overflowing chaos source power surged into his body, and his vital energy rumbled and boomed.

To the current Su Yi, even immortal medicines fit for Great Unity cultivators were insufficient to meet his needs, but in the Immortal Realm, Great Profound immortal medicines were incredibly rare and precious. It was thus obvious how difficult it would be for Su Yi to further advance his cultivation. If all he did was cultivate assiduously, thousands of years might pass without tangible progress.

Fortunately, Su Yi had never placed his hopes on hard work alone.

The Chaos Pool contained the purest chaos source power of the Spirit Domain. It was far beyond Great Profound medicines. It would be unbelievably beneficial to his cultivation!

Even the Book of Karma flew out of its own accord and started absorbing the energy in the pool. It said that both the Immortal Realm and the Spirit Domain’s chaos sources were the most ancient power of the current epoch. They were enormously beneficial to chaos treasures!

Before long, Su Yi was fully immersed in his meditation.

All the while, the Divine Replenishment Furnace loyally and exuberantly scoured the Ancestral Demon Grounds for trophies…

The Ancestral Demon Grounds were the greatest forbidden zone in the Spirit Domain, the root of the Nine Great Demon Races. Numerous deeply secluded Demon Sovereigns had stood guard over this place.

But now, all of the old-timers were dead, leaving their belongings behind. The ground was practically covered in treasure.

……

“The Tyrant broke through Celestial Wolf Gate, then won a complete victory at Nightslayer Mountain. He crushed one hundred and seven Demon Sovereigns with unstoppable force!

“Today, he fought the greatest of the Demon Sovereigns outside of the Ancestral Demon Grounds. All of them, including their leader, Li Changsheng, were reduced to departed souls beneath his sword!

“Now, he’s fought his way into the Ancestral Demon Grounds! They say… that the Ancestral Demon Grounds have already fallen!”

As Su Yi went into seclusion, word of what had happened took the Spirit Domain by storm, causing enormous waves. The entire world shook.

“The Tyrant broke Celestial Wolf Gate just three days ago. Now, he’s already fought his way into the Ancestral Demon Grounds?”

Countless people were wide-eyed and tongue-tied. They found this difficult to believe.

Three days!

He’d crushed everything and everyone in his path like they were made of rotten wood. Who could block the sharpness of his sword?

“Nightslayer Ridge has been flattened, and all of the Nine Great Demon Race’s top experts are dead! Have even the defenders of the Ancestral Demon Grounds been slaughtered!?”

Countless demons broke out in cold sweats when they heard the news. They were overcome with terror and unease.

Long ago, when Wang Ye fought his way into the Spirit Domain, he caused an enormous storm of bloodshed. Still, in the end, the demons managed to halt his advance at Nightslayer Ridge.

He never even laid eyes on the Ancestral Demon Grounds.

Even so, this was enough to instill terror in the entire Spirit Domain. Fear of the Tyrant was carved deep within their hearts.

Now, countless years later, Wang Ye’s reincarnation fought his way into the Spirit Domain. This time, he reached the Ancestral Demon Grounds in just three days, killing everyone who stood in his way. This was unquestionably far too terrifying!!

“Just how strong is Wang Ye’s reincarnation?”

“Don’t tell me he’s already become a god?”

“I’m afraid the Ancestral Demon Grounds have really fallen. Otherwise, why hasn’t there been any word from the defenders?”

“Don’t tell me that no one in the Spirit Domain can stop this?”

“No heroes have arisen. The Tyrant has single-handedly taken control!”

The entire Spirit Domain was in uproar. Every faction of demons shook.

“Everything is about to change!” an older-generation cultivator said bitterly.

Indeed, after this battle, the Nine Great Demon Races’ control had completely broken, leading to a complete shift in the balance of power!

That, in turn, meant slaughter, warfare, bloodshed, and turmoil as experts vied for supremacy and new heroes rose to prominence. Who knew how much blood would be shed as others fought to seize the Nine Great Demon Races’ former authority?

The Spirit Domain was thus destined for an age of turmoil and upheaval!

“No, the Nine Great Demon Races won’t fall so easily. Don’t forget the army of a million demons that invaded the Immortal Realm! When they return, they’ll save the Nine Great Demon Races!”

“Hah! In just three days, the Tyrant fought his way into the Ancestral Demon Grounds. So what if the army returns? They’ll be helpless against him!”

“That’s right. The Tyrant is a godlike being. If he wants to destroy the Spirit Domain completely, he can do so with ease! That is, unless gods intervene to stop him!”

……As the Spirit Domain was plunged into chaos, in one of its many cities, a woman in plain cloth robes stared blankly into space and murmured, “Senior Su actually managed to reach the Ancestral Demon Grounds….”

This was none other than Qin Yixian, the descendant of immortals whom Su Yi had saved not long ago.

Her entire body quivered with excitement, and her expression filled with the utmost reverence and delight.

The Spirit Domain is destined for turmoil and strife, but that makes this an ideal opportunity to rise to prominence. No matter what, I absolutely cannot let Senior Su down. I have to do everything in my power to rise up and avenge my mother, and all of the other immortals and immortal descendants who’ve suffered here, too!

Qin Yixian took a deep breath. One day, I, Qin Yixian, will crush the demons beneath my feet, just as he did!

Her gaze was staunch and determined. Her will blazed like an undying flame!

Meanwhile, the experts of the Nine Great Demon Races were overcome with terror and unease as other factions seized the opportunity. They were all eager to swoop in and seize the Nine Great Demon Races’ territories.

The Spirit Domain was plunged into unprecedented despair and panic. The winds rose and the clouds surged. Dark currents flowed beneath the surface.

Su Yi, the reincarnation of the Tyrant Wang Ye, was like a dark cloud obscuring the skies of the Spirit Domain. Everything was plunged into sunless darkness.

He was just one person, but he’d shattered the Spirit Domain’s balance of power.

He was just one person, but he’d overturned its law and order!

He was just one person, but he’d transcended the Spirit Domain entirely. The whole world trembled at what he’d done!

This was a day sure to enter the annals of the Spirit Domain’s history. It would leave an indelible mark, and the demons would speak of it for ten thousand generations to come.

“Word of what happened has already spread. When the divine son learns the full story, he might punish us, but most likely not too severely,” said a long-robed man. A massive weight lifted from his shoulders.

Eight others stood around him. These were the divine emissaries Su Yi had let escape the Ancestral Demon Grounds!

They’d played a role in spreading word throughout the Spirit Domain, stirring up waves from behind the scenes. Otherwise, word could never have spread this quickly.

They were doing this in hopes that the massive changes to the Spirit Domain would make Huo Jianfeng aware of just how terrifying Su Yi was.

Then, when they next saw Huo Jianfeng, they’d be able to explain themselves, and that would reduce their punishment.

“Those nine Divine Puppets expended an enormous amount of the Three Purities Daoist Court’s treasures, and they represented an enormous amount of effort on the divine son’s behalf. These were the killer weapons he prepared to vie for divinity, but now, they’ve fallen into Su YI’s hands. I’m afraid… that he won’t forgive us so easily….” someone else said somberly.

The Divine Puppets were enormously precious, and Huo Jianfeng’s chances at divinity were at stake, but Su Yi had seized all nine of them. How could Huo Jianfeng possibly let this go?”

“Accompanying a ruler is like accompanying a tiger. If we didn't have divine marks in our souls that would kill us the moment we chose betrayal, I’d flee as far and fast as I could,” sighed another divine emissary. So what if they were divine emissaries? The position might have seemed lofty, but the consequences of failure were dire!

“We can only take things one step at a time,” sighed another emissary.

Meanwhile, word of what had happened in the Spirit Domain left the Spirit Domain and reached the Immortal Realm as if it had grown wings.
