Chapter 631: Hunt

Chapter 631: Hunt

In a span of a few seconds, the Minotaur closed in, swinging its large axe with a powerful strike. The force was so strong that it knocked down trees and smashed rocks that stood in the way. The next second, the wild boar stood no chance and was sliced in half.

Resting the heavy axe on its shoulder, the Minotaur moved closer towards the wild boar corpse, grabbed its legs, and dragged the boar in a random direction.

Whenever it took a step, the ground shook loudly and caused the surrounding trees to vibrate!

Meanwhile, Charles observed the minotaur’s every movement and was confused inside.

’I had anticipated that beings of Legend Rank would possess great intellect, but this display contradicts my expectations,’ Charles mused.

Even though it was a minotaur, it must have been alive for more than a thousand years. Even a magical beast with more than 100 years always has more extraordinary intelligence than a normal beast. But seeing such a dumb creature made him feel something was off.

’Maybe it is aware of my presence and trying to lure me closer?’ He couldn’t neglect that possibility.

At the same time, a row of information appeared before his eyes.

"Wow, it’s too strong." Charles quietly observed the screen and pondered. The minotaur was a powerful creature with strength alone, and he knew dealing with it wouldn’t be easy, thanks to the skin-hardening, berserk, and revitalizing burst skills.

Although he was strong enough to kill a Magical Beast alone, Charles knew it would require a considerable amount of time and effort.

’With the aid of the Skin Hardening and Revitalizing Burst, this creature will not meet its demise unless I sever its head completely, And if it went into a berserk mode, I’m damn sure its strength will increase.’ But Charles’s worry wasn’t this to begin with.

’I’m worried about its intelligence. What will happen if this creature isn’t a dumb one but a very intelligent one capable of planning multiple schemes?’ The result would be obvious.

’I’ll die in a matter of seconds.’

Charles also knew his limitations in terms of physical strength. Despite his other abilities and skills, he lacked the sheer power needed to overpower the being with brute force alone.

After careful analysis, he reached into his belongings and retrieved a leather sack filled with the potent venom of the Serpent. He meticulously applied the poison along the edges of his Scimitar.

Then, Charles flapped his wings and gradually descended from the sky, gracefully approaching the ground. Finally, he touched down a few hundred meters away from the Minotaur.

As Charles arrived closer, the Minotaur was also aware of his presence. It dropped the lifeless wild boar it held in its powerful grip; its attention focused on the intruder.

’From this point onward, I must act cautiously and leave even if a single anomaly occurs,’ he turned solemn.

Then, he cast [Accelerate Thoughts] on himself and entered a deep state of concentration, sharpening his senses and mind.

Simultaneously, he activated two additional skills, [Rune Eye] and [Faceless Eye]. Through his left eye, Charles witnessed twenty different future visions. Meanwhile, his right eye revealed the weaknesses of the Minotaur.

In contrast, the Minotaur tightened its grip around its massive metallic axe, enveloping its entire body in a strange, chaotic reddish aura.

After a brief movement, it charged towards Charles with incredible speed, displaying a ferocity matched only by its sheer power.

Charles knew that a confrontation with strength would be unwise. Instead, he relied on agility and quick thinking to outmaneuver his formidable opponent. As the Minotaur closed in, Charles used the ’Shadowstep’ skill and swiftly sidestepped, evading the initial swing of the creature’s mighty axe.

With his agile movements, Charles positioned himself behind the Minotaur, taking advantage of its heavy body. Seizing the opportunity, he imbued the Scimitar with Intermediate Sword Aura and lunged forward, unleashing a precise and swift strike with his venom-infused Scimitar.

The blade swiftly cut through the air, aiming for a vital spot on the Minotaur’s exposed back. However, the creature’s instinctual reflexes proved formidable as it deflected Charles’s attack with a swift twist of its muscular body, narrowly avoiding a fatal blow.

But Charles had long seen its following action. He activated his ’Shadowstep’ skill silently and moved towards a nearby tree like a shadow. As he approached the tree’s shadow, his figure gradually grew fainter until it disappeared entirely from sight.

The Minotaur, startled by the sudden vanishing of its opponent, let out a low growl of frustration. Driven by anger and confusion, it swung its massive axe toward the tree where Charles had been moments before.

In that instant, a burst of chaotic energy exploded from the axe’s edge. The wild, uncontrollable force surged out, creating a powerful shockwave. The air vibrated with magical energy that seemed beyond understanding.

It was no ordinary shockwave. It embodied pure, chaotic energy, an overwhelming wave of destructive power. It expanded rapidly, resembling a blinding light that radiated with an intense and unstoppable force. With each passing moment, the wave strengthened, spreading like wildfire and consuming everything in its path.

In seconds, the chaotic energy wave tore through the land, turning everything nearby into ruins. The vibrant surroundings were devastated as trees were torn up, rocks shattered, and the ground shook from the immense force. The destruction stretched over two kilometers, leaving a barren wasteland where nothing remained.

The creature stood amid the wreckage, its heavy breaths showing rage.

Meanwhile, Charles had barely managed to evade the Minotaur’s attack and find refuge in the shadows of a rock. Hidden from sight, he watched as the destructive power of the chaotic energy wave decimated the surrounding landscape.

’It’s instinct is so good, giving me no opportunity.’ But everything was still within his calculations.

’I’ve only one chance. I’m going to aim for the deep scar on its chest.’ Charles muttered.

With a resolute nod, Charles braced himself and swiftly dashed towards the Minotaur’s back. Upon sensing his killing intent, the creature instinctively turned towards its left, raising its massive axe in preparation for another strike.

But just as the Minotaur prepared to swing its axe with full force, a peculiar purple fire erupted within its mind, erasing its current thoughts and causing it to enter a half-dazed state. Confusion clouded its eyes, and its movements faltered momentarily, granting Charles a fleeting advantage.

Seizing the opportunity, he enacted the [False Blink] spell. In an instant, he closed the remaining distance to the Minotaur, taking a stance with his Scimitar pulled back, ready to strike.

Without any delay, Charles thrust his Scimitar toward the Minotaur’s chest with precision and speed. Though the Intermediate Sword Aura alone couldn’t deliver a deep wound, its purpose was different this time—to allow the venomous poison to enter the Minotaur’s bloodstream.

The blade made contact with the creature’s flesh, and the venomous essence seeped into its veins.

In an instant, the Minotaur snapped out of its dazed state, its anger resurfacing as it realized what had transpired. It growled fiercely, its eyes narrowing with fury and determination.

However, before Charles could safely retreat from his successful attack, the Minotaur abruptly stretched out its massive arms and unleashed a mighty roar that reverberated with thunderous intensity. The sound waves generated by its roar rippled outward at supersonic speeds, creating a shockwave that moved in all directions.

The shockwave swept through the surroundings, causing the air to tremble and distort. The forceful impact of the sound waves created a destructive force capable of shattering objects and rending the very fabric of reality. Trees were uprooted, rocks were pulverized, and the ground quaked under the immense power unleashed by the Minotaur.

Alas, Charles had long cast the [Golden Shield] spell and reduced the impact to an incredible level. He had long anticipated the approaching shockwave and swiftly executed a nimble backflip.

The Minotaur watched him with shock and surprise. A second later, it let out an angry roar and activated the [Might of Berserk] bloodline spell. Its eyes glowed dark red, and its horns grew larger, giving it an even more imposing appearance. Its muscles swelled, making it appear even more powerful.

At the same time, a thick, chaotic aura burst from its skin, swirling into a reddish mist that surrounded its body.

Before Charles could react or plan his next move, the Minotaur crouched low and used the [Bull’s Charge] spell.

It shot forward at incredible speed, closing the distance between them in an instant. The sudden acceleration left Charles stunned.

A sense of danger surged in his mind.

If not for the [Accelerate Thoughts] skill, he would’ve been completely overwhelmed by the Minotaur’s speed.

As he watched the creature barrel toward him, Charles realized there was no way to escape in time. The charge was too fast and too powerful to dodge or block. Worse, he needed over twenty minutes to cast [Rebirth Domain], time he didn’t have.
