Chapter 69: 69-Burns Me Alive
Theodore:
Going to dinner with Gigi was an absolute must.
I had put all my friends on hold because I needed to make things right with Gigi.
I had made a mistake, and I had to fix it.
That day, I had seen Verity at the office too.
To be honest, all those feelings came rushing back, but I had challenged myself to do something different for once.
I could not hurt Gigi over a woman.
I convinced myself that maybe I was only going crazy over Verity’s body. Her scent, her skin—
Then, when I met up with Gigi, she accidentally touched me again.
She was very innocent.
She did not understand these things.
She would accidentally touch people anywhere without thinking much of it.
She never felt anything from it, but I did, because, at the end of the day, I was a man.
A lot of times, my attention would drift to her clothes.
Whenever she bent down, more cleavage than necessary would end up in my line of sight, and then I would blame myself for noticing.
She was innocent, and looking at her that way felt wrong.
What was I supposed to do?
Her nonchalance sometimes made me feel strange.
Embarrassed.
Ashamed.
Feelings like that.
Then I told her about Aster.
I could tell she was a little upset, but because she never wanted to fight with us, argue with us, or make us feel as though she was forcing her opinions on us, she always swallowed her discomfort for our sake.
Honestly, I did not like Jaguar for it. What the fuck was wrong with him?
All he had to do was come to Gigi and ask for her permission before bringing Aster back into his life.
Look at me. I was fucking dropping Verity for Gigi. And Aster was no competition to Verity.
When we arrived at the hotel, I had booked a luxurious table for her on the rooftop.
We had a great time. We talked, ate, and planned the trip.
Then Gigi accidentally got a little too excited and spilled some of her drink on herself.
"Oh no," she uttered. "Is it bad?"
She slid her chair closer to me. I quickly grabbed a napkin and started wiping the drink from her neck.
While doing so, I noticed that her dress had slipped down significantly.
"Do it here too. I feel so dirty," she complained, pulling her dress down even more without realizing how much she was exposing.
Her dress edged to the side, revealing her areola.
I swallowed hard but did not say anything. Otherwise, she would feel awkward and guilty.
So I continued helping her clean up.
My fingers and the napkin brushed against her areola, and I felt my heartbeat start to rise.
After all, I was just a man. Not just any man, but an Alpha.
Under circumstances like these, anyone’s desires would go crazy.
"I don’t know. It seems like a lot of this drink got on me."
She grabbed a tissue, and as I pulled away, she took over herself, slipping her hand under her dress from the top.
I watched her rub at her chest without even realizing where my eyes had wandered.
I felt as though I was witnessing something forbidden.
She continued rubbing more aggressively, making her nipple show up and go into hiding and my eyes became even more fixed on her.
I knew I should look away, but for a moment, I could not.
It was right in my line of sight. How could I ignore it?
But then my phone suddenly beeped, and whatever I had been feeling vanished instantly because the name that popped up on my screen was none other than Verity’s.
For a second, my hand tightened around the phone.
Even while I had been watching Gigi, I had felt some sort of tingling, but not enough to make me hard.
The moment Verity’s name appeared on my screen, however, I felt my cock twitch in my pants.
It was as if I suddenly wanted Verity sitting in front of me instead.
I shook my head, and when I looked down again, the call had already ended.
It seemed it had been nothing more than a missed call.
This time, I did not look back at Gigi. I simply looked away.
A few seconds later, she asked for another drink.
That was when I glanced over and noticed she had fixed her dress, thankfully.
"Um, I think we should head home," I said with a smile and she agreed.
I could tell her mood had soured, probably because of the drink. She seemed really uncomfortable after what had happened.
We finished dinner, I paid for it, and then I got in my car to drop her off.
Throughout the car ride, I tried to stay quiet. I tried to talk to her, but I just could not.
My mind kept drifting back to Verity and why she had called me.
It was nighttime, and if she needed me, what if she had been calling me to come over?
Had I missed a chance?
But what chance?
I reminded myself that I was not going to act on my feelings anymore, so I ignored her.
At the same time, I could not focus on Gigi either.
When I finally dropped her off, she walked over to my side of the car, made me roll down the window, and leaned in.
My eyes drifted to her breasts, and I quickly looked away.
"Thank you so much," she said as she leaned down and pressed a kiss to my cheek.
Tonight, the kiss felt different.
I will be honest. If she were not Ragnar’s girlfriend, I would have dragged her back into the car and fucked the shit out of her.
"What the fuck are you thinking about?" my wolf snapped, and I realized she was already gone.
"It’s not that," I muttered.
"Then what is it?" my wolf growled.
"This is just frustration," I began to say, but he started chuckling, almost as if he already knew what I was going to say.
"It is Verity," he mumbled. "You’re frustrated because you stopped things with her, and now your horny cock is going crazy for everyone."
Well, he was not wrong, but I ignored him.
I got home and texted Verity, asking about the call. Her single reply spoiled my entire mood.
She had been calling someone else.
Who the fuck was she calling in the middle of the night, and why?
I did not respond to her because I did not know why I was fuming, seething with anger when there was nothing going on between us.
At the same time, I wanted to know who the fuck was getting her attention to the point that Verity was calling him in the middle of the night.
And did she end up calling him? Did he come? Did he touch her? Did he fuck her?
Those thoughts kept me awake until morning. When I finally texted her, all I sent was:
"Okay."
I had nothing else to say.
There was nothing going on between us anyway.
