Chapter 131: 131-My Savior Arrived
Gigi:
After that, Lady Lucille rather bluntly dismissed everyone, saying she was tired and needed to rest.
I rose from my chair. Just as I was about to leave, I heard a voice behind me.
"Jaguar, Theodore, did you two show Jenna her bedroom?"
My body stiffened. My steps slowed.
I lingered, pretending to watch one of the maids put the chair back.
"The room is right next to yours. Why do we have to show it to her?" Theodore replied, his tone more playful than argumentative.
I shifted slightly so I could watch them through the mirror in front of me.
Jenna seemed to be enjoying every second of Theodore talking about her, even though it wasn’t a big deal.
"Oh, come on. Don’t be like that," Lady Lucille complained. "Go on and show her the bedroom. And remember, she’s going to continue her studies here, so you two will be responsible for picking her up and dropping her off. I don’t want any excuses."
The way she gave orders made me feel my place in their lives slipping away.
After this woman arrived, I didn’t think things would go my way anymore.

People always say there can only be one queen in a house, and she was replacing me.
The attention I wanted from the brothers, she was now demanding they give to Jenna instead.
Both Theodore and Jaguar exchanged a glance before nodding at her, completely forgetting that they were supposed to discuss decisions like that with me first.
After that, I walked out of the room. Instead of leaving, I stayed in the sitting area.
I pretended to be giving instructions to the maids about bringing in new plants and improving the view.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Jaguar and Theodore walk out.
They casually followed behind Jenna.
Then Theodore stepped ahead and opened the bedroom door for her.
Those two bedrooms were going to be occupied by Lady Lucille and that fucking leech, Jenna.
"Come on, Queen. Let’s show you around your room," Theodore said, trying to be playful.
She giggled and stepped inside, almost skipping like a child.
As soon as she walked in, I watched the two brothers glance at each other.
Then Jaguar pulled his hands out of his pockets, and they suddenly exchanged a high five.
It was a subtle gesture, but I knew exactly what it meant.
They were checking her out. More than that, they were reacting to her behavior.
They liked the way she acted.
And I knew that because I wasn’t inexperienced when it came to men.
I knew men very well.
I had many goals in life, and one of them had been studying men.
I’d spent plenty of time in groups of guys as just a friend, so I knew exactly what those little gestures meant.
As soon as Jaguar and Theodore stepped inside, they started closing the bedroom door.
Then Theodore looked up and spotted me.
I think he realized I’d seen everything.
He immediately left the door open, smiling at me as if to show he wasn’t going to close it.
I didn’t smile back. Instead, I continued talking to the maid before walking away.
I could tell Theodore noticed that I didn’t like them hovering around Jenna like butterflies.

After that, I spent the rest of the day in the kitchen, but I honestly couldn’t keep myself together.
My eyes filled with tears more times than I could count.
I didn’t even have the courage to step outside.
Theodore and Jaguar called me three times.
They texted me too, of course. They had figured out where they’d fucked up.
Even so, I stayed silent. I kept working, just as I had promised I would.
Finally, dinner time arrived.
Before anyone else could come looking for me, Ragnar returned from work.
From his messages, I already knew he had no interest in sitting with his grandmother.
When he arrived earlier, he had only greeted her briefly before leaving again.
Now he was back.
The moment he walked in, he asked everyone where I was and came straight to the kitchen to find me.
"How are you?" he asked, resting a hand on my head and giving it a playful shake before pulling it away.
"I’m good," I replied, stealing a glance at him while watching the staff carry the dishes out of the kitchen one by one.
"Why did you work so hard on all this?" he asked, stepping into my path as I was about to leave the kitchen.
He rested a hand on the counter, his eyes waiting for mine.
"Because I wanted to impress her," I mumbled, keeping my gaze lowered.
"And?" he prompted.
When I didn’t answer, he gently slipped a finger under my chin, lifting my face until I looked at him.
"You don’t have to please anyone to be with me, Gigi. And none of them gets to criticize you or expect anything from you either."
Ragnar’s words lifted my spirits so much that a smile spread across my lips.
"So tell me, what happened?" he insisted again.
I took a deep breath before stepping closer and placing my hand on his chest.
"I didn’t know anything about Jenna."
The moment I said it, I looked up to see his reaction.
I could immediately tell he wasn’t very fond of her.
He drew in a quiet breath.

"Yeah, I figured you wouldn’t be comfortable," he muttered under his breath.
"It’s not about that. It’s not even her," I said quickly, raising my voice slightly. "It’s just that I felt like your grandma liked her more."
"Did she say something to you?"
I noticed Ragnar’s eyebrows knit together and his jaw clenched.
I wanted to understand how serious the tension was between Ragnar and his grandmother so I could act accordingly.
"She kept comparing me to her, making me feel so small, like I —was nothing," I stammered, leaving small pauses between my words as though I were on the verge of tears.
"And yet you came here and prepared all that dinner for them?" he asked.
I looked up at him, and my lips began to tremble.
That was when Jaguar and Theodore arrived.
I noticed them stop a few steps behind their brother.
They didn’t interrupt right away, but they quickly realized something was wrong.
They were definitely listening to my conversation with Ragnar.
