Chapter 129: 129-Failed To Impress His Grandma
Gigi:
I had made a list of the dishes my maids were going to prepare for the Alpha King’s grandmother’s arrival.
The fact that it was practically my first meeting with her made me overly worried and cautious.
So far, every friend of Ragnar and his brothers, along with their business partners, had only good things to say about me.
So, this was essentially my first time meeting his family.
It wasn’t as though I had planned to introduce myself to her.
Ragnar had informed me that his grandmother was arriving and that he wanted me by his side.
I didn’t know much about Ragnar’s personal affairs. He rarely shared anything with anyone.
Not even his inner thoughts or family conflicts.
But I knew for a fact that he didn’t have a good relationship with his grandmother.
Theodore and Jaguar had made enough comments to make that obvious.
"Will you be staying over at the Alpha King’s place?" my mother asked as she walked over to me with some of her own maids.

I made the list, but I didn’t know much beyond that.
It was actually my mother who had trained the maids, so I really appreciated her help.
"No. Ragnar didn’t ask me to stay. Besides, I have salon appointments with my friends in the morning," I replied to my mother, zipping my purse after putting my phone inside.
"Why doesn’t your brother come with you? He’s been really down ever since that incident. It’ll cheer him up. The Alpha King and his brothers like him anyway," my mother suggested.
I stared at the wall ahead and took a deep breath.
"Mom, I’m not sure that’s a good idea. No doubt the Alpha King and his brothers like him, but tonight is about their grandmother." I paused to glance around, making sure Oliver wasn’t nearby before lowering my voice. "Besides, I’m not even sure they’ll have time to spend with me."
The truth was, I didn’t want the attention to shift to my crazy stalker.
Oliver still hadn’t transitioned, so the injuries on his face were still visible.
Ragnar’s grandmother would notice them immediately and start asking questions.
I didn’t want her to think her grandson was marrying someone who brought danger into their home.
"I hope you had a great day," my mother said, wrapping an arm around me.
After saying goodbye to her, I left for Ragnar’s mansion.
I received notifications from both Theodore and Jaguar that their grandmother had already arrived.
They had even had lunch together.
I was relieved.
I hated introductions, especially having to welcome guests into the house, serve them food, and make small talk.
I was glad that part was already over.
All I knew was that Lady Lucille was very judgmental, so I had to be on my best behavior around her.
As soon as I arrived, I had one of the servants carry the bouquet and chocolates inside.
Along with the scents of the Alpha King brothers, several unfamiliar scents lingered in the air.
"Oh, perfect, you are here."
Theodore, who was standing in the corner, apparently checking something on his phone, looked up and immediately came over to greet me.
"Where is your grandmother?" I asked.
"Everyone’s resting in their rooms, but I guess you can meet her," he replied as we walked down the hallway.
I frowned slightly.

What did he mean by everyone?
I had thought it was just their grandmother.
But I didn’t ask him. I simply followed him to the room.
It was a spacious suite with a sitting area at the front and another room to the side.
Large windows overlooked one of the gardens outside.
I took a deep breath and put on a smile as Theodore opened the door.
The moment I stepped inside to greet the old lady, my eyes landed on the girl sitting beside her on the bed, reading a novel aloud.
My smile immediately faltered before I forced it back into place.
I had worn a beautiful pink dress, hoping to make a good first impression.
"Hi—," I immediately tried to introduce myself, but Lady Lucille raised a hand without even looking in my direction, silently stopping me.
It felt incredibly awkward.
I figured there must be something important going on. But the girl was simply reading a novel to her.
I snapped my head toward Theodore, who had just walked in.
He scratched the back of his neck and shrugged, as if silently telling me there was nothing he could do about it.
I hated introductions and formal conversations.
The only reason I was here was because of Ragnar, Theodore, and Jaguar.
Otherwise, I wouldn’t have spent even a minute with someone like Lady Lucille.
"Ah, okay. We’ll continue reading tomorrow," the girl said, glancing up at me several times as though she felt bad for making me wait.
The hazel-eyed brunette had curly hair.
The way she sat comfortably on the bed beside Lady Lucille made it obvious she wasn’t a maid or a servant.
"Finally," Lady Lucille said with a smile.
It remained on her face until she looked me up and down.
Then she turned to the girl beside her, her nose wrinkling.
"Um, hi. I’m Jenna," the girl introduced herself awkwardly, giving me a small wave as if trying to smooth over Lady Lucille’s reaction to my appearance.
For a moment, it felt like my whole world shattered.

She hadn’t looked at me and thought, ’She’s beautiful.’
She had simply looked me up and down before disappointment settled across her face.
"And this is Lady Lucille," Jenna continued. "She’s Ragnar’s grandmother."
I barely stopped myself from snapping at her and asking who she was.
"And Lady Lucille, this is Ragnar’s girlfriend" Jenna paused, realizing she didn’t even know my name.
"I’m Gigi," I said, forcing another smile. "It’s really nice to meet you."
I directed my greeting to Lady Lucille, completely ignoring Jenna.
"Grandma, she’s talking to you," Theodore said gently, giving his grandmother’s knee a light shake as he sat in the bed with her.
For a brief second, I wondered if she had been stunned by my appearance.
The hope vanished the moment she spoke.
"Oh—so, it’s you."
Her voice carried nothing but disappointment.
