Chapter 47: 47. A glimpse of the past
Blood moon pack,
"Alpha," A man said as he walked into the alpha’s office with Lazarus seated inside behind the desk.
"Speak, what is it?" Lazarus asked without lifting his head from the files in front of him. Because of the birthday, he was forced to sit through earlier, work had piled up and he was running late and didn’t need any unnecessary distractions.
"It’s the Shadow moon pack." The man said and Lazarus’s hand that was holding the pen paused. "The pack is under attack as we speak, alpha."
Lazarus finally looked up at him with a deep frown on his face. "How is the pack holding up?" Lazarus asked.
The pack is doing fine." the man responded and Lazarus nodded his head and said nothing more. "Shouldn’t we help them?" the man asked again. He was surprised because his alpha did not say anything other than just humming to him and nodding his head.
"If he needed our help he would have said so but he didn’t, so he can handle it on his own. He has enough packs at his beck and calls to do his bidding all he has to do is say the word." Lazarus said and the man seemed to have finally understood what he said. "Go back and keep watch, report back to me if anything goes wrong."
"Understood, alpha." The man said and walked out of the Alpha’s office and out of the pack.
Soon after the man left, Dana walked into the office with a tray of tea and biscuits and placed it on the desk beside the documents and files, she walked and stood beside him. We placed her hand on his arm and rubbed it lightly. "You should have some rest." She said and he looked up at her.
"I will, I just need to finish some urgent work," Lazarus said. He snaked his hand around her waist and pulled her closer to himself and buried his face in her stomach and breathed in her scent. "Stay here while I finish up." He said against her stomach.
Dana had her hand placed on his head and combed his hair with her fingers. She smiled and said, "Okay, but first drink your tea." taking her hand from his head, she poured some tea for him which he took and took a sip of it.
"Thank you," He said giving a soft smile. Dana sat on the chair’s arm and watched as Lazarus worked away while playing with his hair and occasionally drawing circles in his arm.
After spending some more minutes in the office, Lazarus was finally done with his work and Dana sighed in relief. "Shall we, alpha?" Dana asked and Lazarus smile before carrying her out of the office, bridal style.
"We shall, my Luna." Said Lazarus as they walked out of the office and headed in the direction of their bedroom. Dana helped to open the door and he carried her in and place her in the bed gently. He hovered over her pinning her against the bed, he leaned forward to seal her lips in a passionate kiss.

Kora had a book with a piece of paper placed on it, it was obvious that the piece of paper was torn out from the book. She had placed the paper on her lap and held a pen on her and with the pen cap in her mouth thinking of what to write. Looking down at what was already written on it, she read the few lines on the paper and added a few more words and folded the paper, and slipped it into her pants pocket.
She looked outside the window, the sky had been painted orange indicating the setting sun on the horizon. She waited patiently for particular someone who will help deliver her letter. After waiting for a long time and there was no sign of him, she became worried.
It was her birthday and she wanted to tell her friend about it but she did know how to tell except through a friend of his who was usually around their pack. He often come around this hour to check up on her but he had not come yet and she was worried for him.
She pulled a chair towards the window and sat down with hands resting on the window sill and stared in the direction of the Shadow moon pack when suddenly she felt her surroundings change and she found herself amid a battle She looked around and found the man who she wanted to write to in his beast form. His breathing was heavy and he looked furious there were cuts and claw marks on his body as she glares furiously at one particular person in front of him.
Kora blinked for a second and she found herself back in her room and still seated beside the window. Understanding what was happening, she rose to her feet, dragging the chair behind her and placing it back where it was, she walked out of the room and went to the back to where the cave was.
Standing by the cave’s entrance, she looked inside and turns to look back at the Packhouse thinking about whether to go in or return to her room. Finally stepping inside, she went to lie on the mattress that she had taken in there as she liked staying there whenever she wants to be alone especially since no one else could go in and disturb her.
She lay there and slowly drifted into a deep slumber while hugging a pillow.
Kora opened her eyes and found herself standing in a crowded place filled with murmurs and unfamiliar faces and wondered where she was. Looking around she realized that she was still in the Blood Moon pack. Though the place looked different, it still felt the same to her.
Moving forward and leaving the crowd she reached the cave and saw a girl and a boy who looked her age, the girl had blue eyes and dark hair with blue stripes while the boy had red eyes and fiery red hair. They were playing and drifting away from the crowd. She was surprised that there used to be shifters like her in the Blood Moon pack before and wondered why there weren’t any now. She followed them as they ran into the woods playing happily and she smiled along with them as they played hid and seek until she heard a shrill scream from the girl and she also turned alarmed.
Looking at where the boy was standing as he sought his sister, she saw an old spell caster who had her hand around his neck while he struggled to break free.
