Chapter 174: 174. Take care of our own
"You noticed it too right?" Levi asked Mateo the moment they were inside the Alpha’s office. Displeasure was written all over his face.
"We all did," Lucy said as they walked inside. Just like the Beta and Gamma, they were unhappy with what had transpired just a moment ago. It was so infuriating but they had to hold themselves back from harming them else the Alpha blames them upon his return. It was best to tolerate them until the Alpha and Luna returned and deal with them themselves.
If there was one thing they were sure about the Supreme Alpha and Luna, it was that they both had zero tolerance for disloyalty and disobedience, and their temper was similar in some way.
"What do we do with them?" Levi asked while Mateo made his way to sit behind the desk. There was no time to waste time when there was much work that needed to be done.
"We travel them to the mastermind and then wait for their Alpha’s return." He said and they looked at him like he had said something dumb.
"We handle it, that was what Alpha said." Levi protested. He was itching to find who it was and tecahrjen a season or two but now his brother was asking them to wait for the Alpha and Luna before actions could be taken even if they found who it was.
Mateo looked up at him without raising his head. He returned his attention to the computer screen and spoke. "This isn’t just any pack issue, Levi, this is the Alpha’s birth pack, we can’t make any drastic decisions, not without him."
"Won’t you say something to him?" He asked as he turned his attention to the two with his in the room. They made their way to the couch and made themselves comfortable with a cup of tea in front of them both. Emily walked in and joined and another cup of tea appeared in front of her. She smiled and they nodded at her before turning to look at him.
"He is right," Lucy said and took a sip of her tea.
"Alpha would be mad," Lucinda said with a shrug of the shoulders. Levi sighed and looked at his mate who pretended not to see him looking at her.
"Fine." He reflected and sat down. "But we have to do something to those two who think they can call us out as they like."
"Alright, do as please," Mayeo consented to his request. He was also angry so there was no need to be so reserved about it. Levi grinned and stood to leave the office. ["Will you be alright without me?"] He asked Emily.
Her head snapped up to find him looking at her and she nodded. ["I will be fine, I am not alone."] she replied. He nods and leaves.
"Why would you agree to that?" Lucy asked she asked with a blank face like she didn’t care about what was going to happen.
"Come on, Luz, you were mad at them too, so let him have some fun with them," Lucinda said smiling at her sister. Lucy gave a lazy look at her and then looked at Emily who did but seem bothered about it.
"Let’s hope he does not kill anyone," Lucy murmured.
"He won’t," Emily spoke making them look at her. She doesn’t talk unless Kora was around her. She was always like a bird that never stops chirping whenever her childhood friend was with her, talking nonstop. But whenever she was without her, she was so quiet that she could be mistaken to be mute.
"It is settled then," Lucinda said with a clap of her hands and grinning as she looked at Emily. "She has spoken."
Mateo looked at his sister-in-law and smiled at her demonstration of trust for her mate. At least between him and his brother, one of them got a happily ever after. The thought of that made his smile falter but he shook it off immediately. It was time to move on completely, forgetting everything so he could move on.

Raven walked into the Alpha office and found Lazarus standing by the window with his hands tucked in his pants pockets. He stopped right beside the door and stares at his back. "You need to rest, Lazarus,"
"The government is involved now, Raven." He said without turning to look behind him. "What will happen to the pack?"
"We will go through it together." Ezra’s voice came from behind Raven. His arrival managed to make Lazarus turn around to look at him. He has not been out of his room since the night he locked himself inside and he had not allowed anyone in and even blocked the mind link making himself unreachable. "Are you going to let the humans have the last laugh out of something that they started?"
"No," Lazarus said walking over to where they stood. "I won’t let that happen." He stops and held him on the shoulder, "Welcome back."
"I am glad to be back, and in time too." He said. He turned to Raven who smiled and they hugged. "I am sorry I took so long."
"You should be, I took all of your responsibilities upon my shoulders," Raven said and Ezra laughed at his humorless joke.
"What exactly happened?" Ezra inquired.
"The government of Hyder is now involved and I know that it would spread soon. The world would be in chaos if that happens."
"We will take care of our pack, there is no need to worry about others at the moment, let’s just make preparations for our pack’s safety first," Raven said and they nodded to his words.
The most important thing now was the safety of the lack that was theirs. Until and unless they were safe, they could not worry about other packs.
"We take care of our own," Ezra said.
"We take care of our own," Lazarus nodded. "Let’s make preparations while it’s still early, we have to be ready before anything starts and it becomes overwhelming."
"How did you know about the government involvement?" Ezra asked out of curiosity.
"We have people all over the sectors remember?" Raven replied to him with a smirk.
"Ah, right, but they have to be careful now not to get caught since the humans are aware of our existence." Ezra pointed out the truth and the office plunged into silence. They needed their men in there among the humans to serve as spies but they also could not let them get killed for that purpose either. They were caught in a tough spot.
The shifter placed among the humans were all important and their roles were solely for the benefit of the pack. Taking them out would mean that they would lose access to information but keeping them therebwould be close to suicide.
’Have them called back," Lazarus spoke. "They need to know exactly what they are dalng with." No matter what, the pack was more important. Every member counts.
"On it," Ezea said and took out his phone to make the necessary calls.
"What do we do about the humans?" Raven asked. He still guilty for the fact he was partially part if the cause if the trouble all because he was mated to a human. But he refused to blame his mate for her father’s actions. It was nut her fault. He would rather blame himself for jit handling the situation properly than blaming her for it.
Ever since rye situation with the humans became public and her father was among the humans listed as the enemies of the ahyfer race, she had become quiet and even the pack was no longer relating with her the way they used to do in the past. Though they never openly pointed fingers at her or speak ill of her in their presence, they al knew that it was happening and it affected Rossie greatly.
She had withdrawn to herself and the only one home she spoke freely to was Dana who was her only companion in the pack. Her position as the beta female also served greatly to keep any shifter who would want to harm her physically refrain themselves from doing so.
"Whatever we have to do lake sure that our pack, race and people are safe." Lazarus responded. Raven nodded and did but ask any further. It has been discuss before and the answer was but any different from this. "Jiw us your mate handling all of this?"
"She is doing better than when it all started," He replied with his eyes casted down. The thought of her being unhappy in his presence weighed on him. Nothing would be the same unless the humans have been taken care of. Her being human was problem on it own and now that her father was among those hunters, the only sure way was the death if her father and the storm that was on the had passed. For now, he has to make as happy as he could and keep her safe.
"I would like to talk to her." Lazarus said, taking permission. Though he was the Alpha, she was mated and to none other than his Beta, it would not be right if he just went ahead to see her without letting him know first.
"I will let her know." Raven said and excused himself to find his mate.
Ezra who had left the group to make some calls a bit furrtur away from them came back and saw Raven walking out and frowned. "What happened?" he asked sitting opposite Lazarus.
"Nothing happened, he just wants find his mate and make sure she is alright." Lazarus replied and Ezra realized that it has not been easy for Raven because of his mate.
"Is it alright if I go to talk to her?" He has neglected many things s and vennson of the issues going on with his friends. He could only imagine how Rossue was coping with everything now.
