Chapter 2472: Chapter 2472: It’s Just That There Wasn’t a Chance
After chatting with Jasmine Yale for the whole evening, Kade Yuvan’s mood really improved a lot.
He wasn’t wrong about her, Jasmine Yale is someone who can make people feel happy; being with her doesn’t bring any pressure, it’s very relaxing.
His mood had been bad for several days, but tonight he said so much with Jasmine Yale, it was really great.
However, Kade also drank quite a bit.
When they finished dinner, it was still raining heavily outside.
Jasmine Yale knew where Kade lived and actively proposed to drive his car to take him home.
Everyone has their own habits when drunk, and this was the first time Jasmine Yale found out that Kade’s habit is to talk nonstop.
As soon as he sat in the car, he started babbling, chatting about everything under the sun.
"When I was in college, many girls pursued me, but I rejected them all. It wasn’t that they weren’t pretty, just no feeling. The word ’feeling’ is quite mysterious, I thought only girls cared about this, but I didn’t expect that even I, a big man, cared quite a lot. No feeling is no feeling, you can’t force it."
Jasmine Yale drove the car, listened to his ramblings, and laughed.
The rain blurred the car windows, even the wipers couldn’t help.
Outside the car was cold, and the north wind howled from time to time, but inside the car was very warm, the heating was sufficient.
Kade kept talking, making the car feel lively.
"When I was a kid, my dad used to hit me a lot. Do you know why? Because I was too naughty, liking to put cockroaches and frogs in the teachers’ desk drawers." Kade said while laughing foolishly.
Jasmine Yale listened to him, laughing all the while.
It was quite amusing.
"Jasmine, did your parents hit you? Were you naughty as a kid?"
Jasmine Yale was silent for a moment: "I wish my parents would hit me."
It’s just, there never was the chance.
"If your daughter is naughty, would you hit her?"
"Yes, if she is too naughty she needs a beating, otherwise she’d go too far."
"You’re just saying that, but surely you wouldn’t bear to." Kade laughed, his face flushed with drunkenness.
The car sped through the rain on the road.
All around was hazy rain, temperatures were low, and there were few pedestrians.
Around ten o’clock, Jasmine Yale dropped Kade off at home.
She didn’t linger much, waved goodbye after dropping him off at home: "Assistant Yuvan, I’m heading back first, will you be okay on your own?"
"Yes..." Kade leaned against the wall, drunkenly, his eyes bleary, "I used to often follow the president to gatherings, often got drunk, I always went home alone..."
"That’s good, take care of yourself, I’m going home now."
"Won’t you stay for a bit?"
"No, if anything comes up just call me, bye now."
"Mm... thank you, Jasmine, take it slow, it’s raining hard outside."
"I know."
Jasmine Yale waved goodbye to him, then left the residential area where Kade lived, holding an umbrella as she walked toward the exit.
It was really cold outside, the cold wind burrowed into her neck, even a thick scarf was useless.
Chicago’s winter doesn’t have any special sights, especially on days like this, with rain, the world is a muddled hue, exceptionally dark.
Jasmine Yale sighed lightly, stepped into the heavy rain, and quietly stood by the roadside waiting for a taxi.
She breathed into her hands, unable to cope with the cold.
She feared winter most of all, the older she got the more dreadful it became, wishing she could stay indoors all day long.
Standing with an umbrella in the pouring rain, her bright eyes gazed at the misty streets, the streetlights were warm, the light was bright.
In the world, Jasmine Yale’s figure blended into a small dot, disappearing in the mist.
