Chapter 2470: Chapter 2470: He Likes to Conquer
Kade’s face turned a little red, and his emotions were slightly heightened.
He started talking more, as if he’d finally found someone to confide in.
"How long have you been following the new CEO?" Jasmine Yale asked.
"Not long, a week. Each reign brings a new set of ministers. The new CEO rarely takes me out for social events, and since he’s from UT, our communication isn’t convenient, and our ideas often clash, so he doesn’t like to use me much. He prefers to employ his former subordinates."
"It’s just work, why take it so seriously? You get your salary, have a position to advance to, isn’t that enough?" Jasmine said calmly.
"You’re mocking me; you know I’m not that kind of person. I’d rather work overtime, travel for business, manage projects, than hold a pointless position doing mundane tasks every day," Kade said, a bit excited. "I was happy to follow CEO Cheney because he always took me along and taught me things I didn’t know. With him, I broadened my horizons and gained courage. Following him for almost a year, I saw myself truly progressing."
"I don’t like life these days; many thoughts are bottled up inside with no one to share them with. Actually, I’m really disappointed in the CEO; it’s one thing if he doesn’t need me, but he doesn’t even want you, Jasmine. He’s truly a hypocrite who discards people after using them," Kade said, reddening while voicing Jasmine Yale’s injustice. "He’s always with CEO Janus, affectionate and loving, which is infuriating to watch."
"Why are you angry? Love is personal freedom. He and I weren’t married; if we don’t fit, we can split up, it’s no big deal," Jasmine Yale seemed unconcerned. "I see it more openly than you. Why are you so angry? He and Erin also make a good match—he’s talented, she’s beautiful, and there’s a future inheritance from a conglomerate. If I had to choose, I would choose Erin too."
"You’re not angry at all? I don’t believe it."
"Getting angry only harms your own health and doesn’t affect others in the slightest, so why be angry? He has his future, and I have mine. Leaving him doesn’t mean I can’t survive. Same goes for you; not working with him doesn’t mean you can’t work, so why be so pessimistic."
"Jasmine, how can you be so open-minded? Anyone else would be furious being played emotionally like that."
"It’s unnecessary and not worth it," Jasmine Yale lowered her eyelids, a deep glimmer in her eyes.
Kade took a large gulp of red wine, his heart stirred.
Jasmine Yale ate the coconut milk soup before her, chewing slowly and patiently.
Outside the window, the sound of rain fell steadily, drop by drop, producing crisp sounds against the glass.
On a winter night, everything was silent, and every rustle of the wind or grass could be clearly heard.
The private room was warmly heated, as cozy as spring.
An obvious contrast between inside and outside.
Jasmine Yale ate with some warmth, yet her expression remained calm.
Kade was different. His emotions were a bit high, probably due to the wine; his heart was restless, pounding intensely.
He kept drinking, one glass after another, the red wine in the goblet emitting a cold, beautiful luster, shining under the lights.
"Alright then." After a long while, he murmured gently, "In the future, find someone who’s sincere towards you. A man like CEO Cheney isn’t someone you can manage. His desire to control is strong, he likes to conquer, not submit. Such a man is like a proud lion, won’t bow to anyone."
